Have to say what a delightful place to say , staff friendly , engaging and just lovely , thank you for the welcome and showing me to the room. I’m here with work over the next few months so based on tonight’s experience I will be back for the next few weeks.

Excellent food and lovely service

Firstly and above everything, I have to say I don’t think I've ever felt so welcomed in a pub. This is all thanks to Ben and his incredible staff. We were on a camping trip just staying around the corner, and found this little gem on a walk. We initially stopped for some mid afternoon drinks. As soon as we stepped into the pub we were greeted with incredibly friendly staff with amazing hospitality. We decided to book a table for some food and boy did they not disappoint. The Brasenose burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I’d personally like to thank Rebecca also for being incredible with our 5 year old daughter. You all made our little family holiday incredible. We will be returning very soon! Thank you all once again.

Just went in for a couple of beers so we didn't eat. To be fair, the food we saw being taken to a family group looked very nice. However the staff, whilst polite, seemed more interested in sitting round a table having a chat rather than serving. It was mid afternoon and it was relatively quiet so maybe that's why. The tables were very tacky to the touch.

Fantastic meal. Huge portions and the food was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the Brisket and Guinness Pie if they have it on! To top it off, they gave my daughters an Easter egg as well. Pay these guys a visit, you won't be disappointed x

Lunch here on Tuesday 26th March. An excellent lunch. I had the Steak and Ale Pie my wife had the salmon. Both were well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pub had a nice atmosphere with friendly customers. Pleased we stopped off for lunch.

Food and service is excellent. Atmosphere really nice and in a lovely little village. We had a Sunday lunch here, which was exceptional and the way it was served onto the plate was very unique and pleasing to the eye. We also had a mid week dinner, one day which was again very very good but be warned the portions are very large!

Lovely spot to stay overnight for our trip to Colready Highlands. Might have found my new favourite place to stay.

Not happy with our Mothers Day meal. I'm so dissapointed and annoyed, can't be bothered to put all on here. Owners/managers fobbed us off. The waiter was lovely. Will never visit again!!! Last years Mothers Day lunch was amazing which was why I took my daughter and partner this year

Great pub in a quiet village outside Banbury. Food is scrumptious and very friendly staff.

Met friends for Sunday lunch, a very warm welcome as we entered the bar, shown to our table and from then on the service and food was excellent, along with a great atmosphere, will be returning.

I am a ground worker, I have been working for a few days in front of the pub, I just want to say thank you for your kindness ! Very special people!

This was a lovely pub with great food. My partner and I also stayed over in one of the 5 en-suite rooms. The rooms were very nicely decorated, smelt lovely and had a huge bed. Shower was also huge. They were very clean. Food was excellent! A bit of a wait but it was a busy Saturday night - the braised steak and rice pudding were amazing. Did note that there was a lot of noise at times with people upstairs walking around / having a shower early in the morning so would advise to ask for an upstairs room. Breakfast is pre-ordered the night before but this was no issues for us. A few tweaks I felt needed regarding furniture in the rooms - such as having a desk / vanity area to use for hair and make up as had no where to sit and do this - maybe take out some of the bigger decorative furniture to have space to add this in.

Absolutely love The Brasenose! Came here for a roast on Sunday and it was quite possibly the best roast I’ve had in a long time, certainly the best in Banbury! Such huge portions, for such great value, without compromising on quality! The service is also top notch, we were running late as had to re-route due to road flooding in Cropredy and we nearly missed food service, but we rang ahead and they kindly took our order over the phone and had the food ready when we arrived. Only slight downside is it’s location outside of Banbury making it slightly less accessible for some, however it’s definitely worth the drive and only less than 10 mins north of the town. Hidden gem! The rest of the menu is also divine, highly highly recommend a visit!

Once again a super nice meal, in a friendly environment with super helpful staff. I had the vegan bean curry, really taste and a generous portion.

A Burns supper evening, and a nice welcome with a piper playing outside. Busy night as restaurant was full with a lively pleasant vibe in dining spaces which are small and cosy - lovely country pub feel. Burns appropriate menu* choice, served well, timely and very tasty. Piper addressed a haggis in the traditional way. Didn’t stay over but the bedrooms do look welcoming and comfortable. *Cullen skink or mulligatawny; bashed neeps and tatties with haggis (vegetarian available); Cranachan.

Absolutely fantastic. Not enough words to say how happy our club members were with your dinner service last night. It was Cropredy Clay Shooting Clubs annual Christmas Dinner and the staff and owners went above and beyond to cater for us all. Needless to say we will be booking our next annual get together with you guys again. Food was fabulous, all dietary needs were catered for. Service was seamless and all the staff were very welcoming. Well done guys.

Needed a dog friendly stop off for lunch and boy did this place deliver. Delicious food - super attentive staff - who were so lovely to my dog and thoughtful bringing him treats and a bowl of water - and they even bought us Christmas crackers to have with our meal! Big table nearby having a whale of a time and all the food looked amazing not just ours. My pie was clearly home made delicious and huge portion. Huge kudos - we’ll be back! Don’t hesitate to go here it’s great 😊

The Brase did lunch for 18 of us today and it was absolutely brilliant. Food was great and the staff were so calm and accommodating with lots of dietary requirements and putting up lots of dogs and children getting in their way. Thank you!

Small country pub, small bar, excellent restaurant food, the only problem, tiny car park, have to park on the road, not ideal for such a small village

Came here to eat with a few mates. Fantastic food and excellent service. The atmosphere was so magical that it even gave us some inspiration for a business idea.

As always a great place for a drink and a bite to eat. The Christmas Fayre was lovely with a good range of things to buy. Staff always make us feel so welcome.

From the moment we walked in Ella made us feel welcome. The menu was varied, good portions and extremely well prepared. This place clearly has a superb chef. We asked for substitutions from the menu to reduce carbs and add greens. These requests were provided without hesitation.

Last minute dinner booking for a mid-week treat in the restaurant (as opposed to bar). Staff welcoming on arrival, happy to handle request to change tables (away from a boisterously loud party). Excellent menu options. Thoroughly enjoyed Whitebait and Beetroot pate starters, ham hock and maple chicken mains. Very generous portions so didn't have room for dessert (sadly). Lovely wine. Staff attentive throughout. Highly recommended

Great meal tonight. This place delivers what so many places promise and then fail to deliver. Great pie, great burger, great mac n cheese,lovely puddings, pleasant surroundings and friendly staff and a short walk from canal.

We were lucky they could squeeze us in on a Saturday night. We were made very welcome . The ambience was great and the food and wine absolutely top notch. I’d recommend the tomahawk pork and blackberry Bakewell- one of the most delicious puddings ever ever eaten!

Excellent light lunch. The food was full of finely balanced flavours and plenty of it - and well-priced. The service was excellent: friendly and attentive. The environment was clean and well-thought out.

Our first visit in over a year and what a change! We wanted a decent meal so ignored the extensive and reasonably priced bar manu and chose from the a la carte. Quite simply the place has changed from serving boring pub grub to producing quite delicious and imaginative dishes that any good restaurant would strive to produce. Service is first rate and the young maitre d is welcoming and professional. We will be back!

An exceptional experience - Ben, Becky and the team were just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Stayed in one of their well-appointed rooms with en suite. I cannot fault the experience - professional, friendly and relaxed.

I was one of four people who decided on a pick'n'mix at the Brasenose. We've know each other for many years so we tried four starters from the restaurant menu with a few sides from the bar menu. The other's liked the Whitebait (but not for me!) The Cantonese Chicken was succulent and well complemented by the sweet chilli sauce. One of our ladies decided that the triple Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms were amazing. The Beetroot and Walnut Pate was smooth and an eye opener as I've not had much success with plant-based cuisine meals - wow! The homemade apple chutney was like my mother's! The service was great and a perfect balance attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommended.

At a recent business lunch at Brasenose, where four of us decided to try the 'one of each and lets share' approach from the starters on the 1777 menu at lunchtime, mid-week. The dishes, true reflections of the diversity of the establishment, made a good impression. The Cantonese Crispy Chicken was a pleasant surprise. Its succulent, crispy exterior paired excellently with the sweet chilli sauce. The combination of sweet and savoury notes was a real winner. For the vegetarians among us, the Triple Cheese and Tarragon Stuffed Mushrooms were a standout. The blend of cheeses and tarragon created an explosion of flavours. Served with a rocket salad and garlic oil, it was a perfect balance of taste and texture. The Beetroot & Walnut pate was a revelation in plant-based cuisine. The earthy notes of beetroot, the crunch of walnuts and sunflower seeds, and the creaminess pate were a match made in culinary heaven. The apple chutney provided a lovely cutting contrast. The Whitebait with lemon and tabasco mayonnaise was a delightful treat. The crispy coating revealed tender, flavoursome whitebait, and the dip added a zesty kick. We added some sweet potato and regular fries to these to make a varied and lovely mezze. A good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, including beer, cider, gin and Nosecco were offered. Service was attentive yet relaxed, striking a perfect balance. The staff at Brasenose ensured our dining experience was enjoyable and hassle-free. In summary, our business lunch at Brasenose, was exactly what was needed and good value for money. Each dish showcased the skill of the chefs. I wholeheartedly recommend Brasenose for a business lunch - its great food, friendly service, and comfortable atmosphere.

Fabulous Sunday roast as ever but the service was well short of our usual experience. Staff seemed very disinterested in checking on whether we wanted anything to follow the roast : there was more attention paid to cleaning and resetting empty tables. Hope this gets sorted on another visit.

I am reviewing this just as a pub for drinks not food. Clean sterile zero atmosphere, bar staff seemed like it was a choir to serve us. A little disappointed as we thought this would be a nice friendly country pub. Looked more like a restaurant than pub I'm sure the food would be good.

Had a beautiful meal here. Really attentive staff. The best burger I have ever had !! Absolutely beautiful Stilton cheese on the burger beautifully presented. Gorgeous blackberry bakewell to share for pudding not too sweet complemented perfectly with clotted cream. Just right. The Ghost ? Shiraz was gorgeous too served at perfect temperature. We were camping in Cropredy and popped into the village for some lunch . We found the Brasenose arms who welcomed us in with our 2 dogs . The service was excellent , the food was amazing and such good value for quality food ....

Nice place, lovely village. Big events area outside. Good beer, food was okay ish, we didn't order anything special though. Service was excellent, and they served us late during lunch which was nice of them. Seems a little pricey but perhaps to be expected for Cropredy.

This little gem (which also does B&B apparently) is right by the canal. We travelled over to meet up and have lunch with friends and was definitely worth the hour drive!! Being a Sunday, we plumped for the Sunday roast, and I'm soooo pleased I...

Stopped off here whilst on a canal boat for dinner. Lovely modern pub with contemporary interior. Received a warm welcome and drinks order taken and served quickly. Good choice of beers and wine available. The food was “nice” nothing special but on the whole tasty....

Great place for live music and events as well as friendly staff and superb food.

The food was amazing,I had the pork,potatoes and veg,partner had the burger and my son had the buttermilk chicken! All really tasty! Desserts were just as good,we had lemon posset😋. Gluten free available too,a bonus!!

What a ripoff. I bought a 250ml glass of Pinot. £8.20p!!!. She even looked embarassed when she asked me for it. The place absolutely stinks of fish as well. Won't be going back.

Great fringe venue during the Fairport festival

Was close to Banbury when we needed to eat, managed to find this place the food was ok although the buffalo Cauli wings were not really buffalo and tasted burnt and overcooked, the burger was ok.

WOW!! That was what first came to my mind. An adorable n utterly quaint, unique, country pub. The food was first class and the ales 🍺 perfick 🤗 The prices are steeper than it used to be, but one doesn't mind when it's sooo good. The service, from all staff, was excellent, and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that it's thanks to Dominic, who's Head of House. Dominic is a true asset to the place. We are going again today for Sunday dinner 😋😊

Lovely and friendly pub. We got there at 2:30 and they still served us food at no bother at all. The food was so delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids even got a chocolate bar on the way out. Thank you very much.

If you're lucky enough to find yourself wandering the fantastical, almost Tolkeinesque Oxfordshire village of Cropredy, be sure to pencil in a stop at The Bracenose. This gorgeous 17th-century pub - which maintains much of its olde-worlde charm - is everything a weary traveller could want, with plenty of local ales on tap to quench the thirst, cosy ambience, cheery staff, and an up-market feel. The beer garden is of particular note; I'd be more inclined to call it a beer *meadow* - it's huge!

Excellent Sunday lunch, beautifully cooked with ample portions and served by charming staff. There is great attention to detail and nothing is too much trouble but the best part was booking in for a 12pm, 2pm or 4pm slot so you know the table is...

We have really enjoyed our meals here. We have dined here 5 times and had a wonderful meal and service each time. We travel by boat and it is a lovely place to stop and enjoy a meal

Very poor service. Went in and barmaid was eating in the bar. Felt like we were an inconvenience ordering drinks. Also people vaping in the bar. Very nice looking place though.

This place was really busy when we went, queued for the bar, but they were well organised. Was just a drink we went for, however the food looked great. Lovely garden, with pods to sit in, all named after the village hero's.

The Brasenose was always value in a budget sort of way, but was starting to look neglected. Now, under new management it has had some needed improvements. The staff are helpful and food ok. It is good to see it on the up. TV by app only and wifi sometimes a bit insufficient for it.

Just wanted a quit pint on the way home. But at £5.70 for a pint of real ale! Won’t be visiting again soon. Londons cheaper.

Popped in for lunch on canal boat trip, large seating area outside very well kept, good food and good beer. Our dog, Buddie, even had a play with his ball on the spacious lawned area to the rear, so a 🐾 up from him too.

Dropped in for a Sunday roast and a couple of pints great service and a delicious meal in great surroundings.Would thoroghly recommend the Brasenose without hesitation.
