Only went in for a drink but seemed a lovely pub

We had a fab lunch on Saturday, plenty on the plate, even the smaller sizes! Really tasty and beautiful presented on the plates. Staff really friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely visit again. 👏

Really good place for food and drink. So sad that the gorgeous Mary has left, she lit up the whole place with her smile.

Ordered trout meal rice was not fresh rice wasn’t fresh was very dry lumpy obviously reheated ,Daughter meal was chicken she also said it was very disappointing wouldn’t recommend if wanting fresh quality meal

Just had a drink here would have had a meal but place had children everywhere. Now I enjoy kids around but so many of them and they were all around the lounge and restaurant. Dogs too and they don't bother me either , xcept there were lots of them...most were ankle / calf size . None ignored same as kids but busy. It was bright but cold so families not keen to go in garden. I will try there again another weekend.

It's a decent old pub with a nice garden and a fire inside when cold. Had the burger which was pretty good and there is a decent selection of real ales and lager. Service was very good too.

This is a lovely atmospheric pub with delicious food and great beer. Service is very friendly and in no way pretentious. Starters of Leek & Potato Soup and Sautéed Mushrooms in Cream Sauce were nicely light and perfectly flavoursome. The mains of Pork Belly and Chicken Breast were equally well cooked, including the vegetables.

This is a lovely local pub which we have visited regularly for great food and drink. It is usually hospitable and friendly. However if you arrive after 9pm the atmosphere suddenly changes. The management and some staff changes to one of aggression and an attitude of please leave as we want to go home. So disappointed with this change in attitude

Service as always was great and friendly and the atmosphere in the pub is always welcoming. Visited on a Sunday with my family and was slightly disappointed this time with the roasts. Have never had an issue before so could have been a one off. The roast potatoes were quite solid and not crispy and for the price per roast paid the portions were smaller than other local pubs. My partners sticky toffee pudding looked a little dry and needed some more sauce, however the crumble was great and was able to swap custard for ice cream with no issues of additional charges.

This pub in the centre of Romsey is very friendly,dog friendly has car parking and serves excellent food,especially their home made meat pies👍😋😋. You have to try them as I've never seen a pie so filled up with meat etc,we had the chicken and mushroom with lovely homemade chips and vegetables and gravy etc and it was absolutely delish and we finished off our meal with some black cherry and vanilla ice cream,thats all we had enough room for,we were full.😋😊 We'll be going back!!!.

First class pub food, Tuesday is pie and pint day, blooming lovely Chicken, bacon and leek pie with a few beer! Beautiful curry for my wife and excellent service. Highly recommended

Had our family Christmas gathering here on 27th December in their side room which was just right Unfortunately due to weather conditions (rubbish) and distances travelling we were an hour late for sitting down but they accommodated us without fuss. We'd pre ordered and all the food came out together (20 of us) that's excellent on the part of the kitchen, and hot too. Very tasty and never rushed us to leave after 4 hours. We had presents to open!! Well done and thank you xx

This is a very cosy pub, my friend and I popped in for a quick drink and warm up on a Sunday. We had a couple of soft drinks, sat as close to the open fire as possible, which has two sofas adjacent to it, but were occupied, I can imagine the sofas by the fire are never easy to get, but still, the pub was nice and toasty. The staff were lovely and friendly, the resident dog said hi and the drinks were cheap and refreshing. The pub offers food and next time I think i'd like to eat, on this visit, it was just a quick stop off to grab a refreshing drink before heading home.

Me and my brother had fish and chip meal (5th January 24) such a lovely homely atmosphere, and proper log fires. Would visit again

Fantastic pub all round! We come fairly regularly and it’s always a joy. Rob & Anita are so friendly and go out of their way to accommodate our daughter who has serious allergies and they always make us feel at ease and give plenty of options which is very hard to find! We came today to celebrate a birthday as a large family group and as always it was great, we had such a lovely time. Thank you both and your staff for such a nice day we really appreciate it. We will be back again soon.

Thankfully we ate in the restaurant area which was tastefully decorated for Christmas. There were too many yapping dogs in the bar area for my liking. There was a small menu but the food was excellent and the service pleasant. There is a great outdoor area which would be excellent in the warmer months. The pub's website does not do justice to how good it is inside

If it was not for the miserable owner that barks orders it would be a great pub. I will not be coming back, fed up with your attitude, I am sure there is plenty more pubs in Romsey that would appreciate us.

Visited for pre-show dinner. Nice proper pub with friendly locals, cozy seating and dog by the hearth. It’s a 10 min walk to Plaza theatre, easy to find and good parking available. Meals available in small size version which was just right for us 4 ladies of modest appetite 😉

This was the second time I had been for lunch there in 4 days. We had booked both times. On Friday there were two of us but we waited 40 mins for our lunch to be served but were given coffees on the house to compensate for the wait. I did put our wait down to the fact that a lot of people were having the Christmas menu which was pre-ordered so they didn't have to wait too long for theirs and we were ordering from the ordinary menu. Today there were six of us booked in for 1.00pm. Again there was quite a wait for our starters and once we'd finished them we then had a good 25-30 mins wait for our main courses. We couldn't put this down to people having the pre-booked Christmas menu as it is not offered on a Monday. In fact we were at first given the Sunday menus as the staff had not changed them to the weekday menus! One of the main courses was returned as the beef was so tough the person wasn't able to cut it. I ordered a coffee after the mains and there was one pudding ordered. My coffee took more than 10 mins to arrive and after another long wait we cancelled the pudding order and asked for the bill. The cost of the beef was deducted but there was no apology for the long waits. We won't be going back.

Absolutely everything a great pub should be and more. Food that was insanely good. Great beers and wines. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. And at very very reasonable prices. Literally couldn’t find a single fault. Will be back whenever I can

We wanted to see the menu first, but before we could get our bearings, we felt we're backed into a corner as the very effusive bar person mmedaitely asked us what we'd like to drink. We hadn't seen the menu at this stage let alone sat down. The belly pork meal was quite pricey yet a very small portion. The vegetables were hard and the dauphinoise potatoes warmed up. The belly pork itself was supposed to be served with a black pudding crumb but it wasn't evident. Disappointed.

Yet another fabulous evening meal in the Old House at Home. Met up with long lost friends and had delicious food.... 5 different pies available plus the normal menu. Steak and kidney was lovely as were veg and chips. All food tasty and well presented, waiting staff helpful and welcoming. Free parking available

A cosy country pub right in the centre of Romsey. Tasty dishes well above the average pub food. Plenty of parking spaces on site as well as in the nearby public car park that is free to use after 4pm.

I didn't eat. The place was beautiful and relaxing. Traditional snug and comfortable. Wonderful experience and fantastic service. Would definitely go back and have a meal.

Held the funeral reception for my Dad here. The team were excellent, from the landlord right through to the bar staff. We had use of a separate section of the bar and the food was promptly served. Food quantity was spot on and quality was also excellent, including the dairy free option. A plastic free box was provided to take the few leftovers away - hurrah - and of course, the London Pride and HSB were very good too. Recommended - and thanks to everyone involved.

Mid week and late decision, 3 dogs in tow, cannot rate this place highly enough, service was lovely, the girls were welcoming, friendly and polite, the food was amazing, not cheap pub grub, but certainly worth the money, 2 main meals and 2 pints coke for £40, thanxu to the staff ❤️🥂

A great place for a Sunday Roast! It was my first time in Romsey, and I didn't know where to have lunch. After reading the reviews, I decided to try this place, and the food was delicious, and the service was excellent and quick. We didn't have a booking, but they quickly set up a table for us. Lovely place very welcoming and friendly.

Food tasted... Odd, as though it had been prepared by someone who hadn't washed their hands or cleaned the kitchen in a while. And when I couldn't eat it, I was challenged by a very rude barman and told in a stern voice that it was basically my fault for not liking it 🤣 I went and bought a sandwich from Waitrose which was about a quarter of the price, three times the portion size and far tastier.

Wonderful Sunday roast beef dinner. Couldn’t fault anything - portion size perfect, taste great and a lovely atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly couple running it - gave us advise on local area - spot on!!

Went to this pub a few years ago, was busy and cheerful with great food and drink. This visit was a disappointment. Expensive low quality food, especially the pork and chicken. The only let down in the area, which we visit often.

Went in with my wife for a Sunday roast. It was amazing, beef was pink in the middle, definitely home cooked. My wife’s roast pork was also delicious. I highly recommend this pub.
