We were well satisfied with both the food and the beer. Crispy and tasty fish and chips and a salad full of varied, good quality ingredients in a thriving community pub with friendly staff.

Welcoming and kind folk! I was visiting my grandmother's home and stopped for the night in Dinas Powys. The young man (Patrick? I've forgotten his name) accepting orders helped me figure out why another close-by restaurant was closed (understandable reasons), and then gave me great conversation and good food recommendations for a classic Welsh pub experience. Nothing fancy--just good, honest food. I wish you well in all future endeavors!

Welcoming atmosphere. Staff helpful and efficient and polite. Food was timely and very tasty. Well presented and extremely good value. Most enjoyable experience.

It's a pity they won't do something about the tables that you stick too. They've been like it for years and they blame the sanitizer.

Booked in for Sunday roast at 1:30 pm. It was not worth the cost or the calories. Roast, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, stuffing balls... All dried out, cold or too tough to eat. Very disappointing.

Everything about this restaurant was perfect! The food was fresh and well-cooked, the atmosphere was charming, and the staff was welcoming and efficient.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere and advised of big food orders before ours making us aware there may be a deal in our but still we had I good time and very tasty too

I came in on my own for some food before an event at the parish hall. It was quite a busy evening for the staff with reservations but they were friendly, welcoming and quick to serve me. Fully recommend this pub.

This is one of the friendliest places we have been which is why we keep going back to it. Everyone is met with a smile and made to feel welcome. My husband has Alzheimias and is quite deaf but he gets uneasy in noisy environments. At the Star no matter how busy it is, because of the layout the noise level is never overbearing. He is always at ease here. The food is great, the staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is lovely. I recommend the Star to anyone, you will not be disappointed. Great village pub in Dinas Powys

Tasty meal served quickly with a good atmosphere in the pub. Had good banter about the rugby and was pleased that Wales ended up doing better than the chap I was talking to thought.

Came here for a family meal with my extended family. I had a gammon it was beautiful. We asked for a slightly quieter area since my grandfather is ill, they were lovely and very accommodating. The atmosphere and the attitude of the staff were very comforting and patient with my grandfather. It’s a great place would definitely dine with them again!

We have seemed to have made the Star Inn as our regular Sunday Lunch. Always very good service and good food.

Decent pub. Food is fine. Drinks are reasonable. Plenty of parking behind. Did have difficulty getting serviced at bar and slow wait times but could have due to staff shortages or more people than usual at the time we went. Over all would go again. I looks very nice at Christmas 👍🏻

As someone with allergies I often dread eating out, but at The Star they have an allergen menu and I had a delicious burger with a gf bun and fries (rather than the usual ‘you can have the burger without the bun’ oh and ‘the chips aren’t gluten free’!!). The staff were super friendly as always and gave my dog a few treats which made us feel very welcome. Thanks to the all the team for the yummy food and great service!

First Class Service and good quality food at reasonable prices.

One of my favourite places to come for delicious lunch or dinner, excells normal pub grub. The menu is great! What really makes this place is the extra friendly bar staff. Very attentive and always with a glowing smile on their faces. Thank you once again for your service

Have just had a Sunday lunch at the Star Inn and it was fabulous. Unfortunately we had not booked a table, but without any bother they managed to fit myself and grandson in with no problem. The managers and staff were brilliant and the food excellent would recommend the Star Inn to everyone for their amazing hospitality and food. Excellent all round

Food was good, waitress was lovely but the Duty Manager is in the wrong job. We wanted to pay at time of order but the blue light app was taking a while to load, the person taking the order said its ok they will open a tab and we can pay at the end. When we paid at the end the duty manager said no as he walked past to the blue light we asked a simple question about Blue light as it is in the app to be used 7 days a week but he refused it with no explanation and said 'no it's my decision and that's final' no reason why, and he said it with attitude. I came home after thinking we would have nice evening out as a family feeling very annoyed due to the duty managers attitude. I think the hospitality industry is the wrong one for him.

First time here and as soon as I walked in I loved the atmosphere. The place feels so homely with great decor. The bar looks amazing with lots of information about their events like a regular quiz night. I had a cheese burger meal which was superb. All the staff were friendly, asked me how my day was going and I had a nice chat with Sara the landlady. I love that there is a beer garden too. I will definitely return here as my whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you 😊

The staff at the star are absolutely amazing. They honestly can't do enough every time we visit and are the friendliest and most welcoming staff. We love coming here for a date night and the food is always really good too!

Average chain pub food. Service was awful so glad tipping is not expected in the UK! The Star has really not improved much since my last visit in 2022. The food is really terrible and I only go there for a pint every now and then. If the food could be improved this could be a nice place to eat but currently it is well below par. I am really surprised that there are positive reviews for the food served here.

I would like to express and highlight my distaste to the female member of staff, that was extremely rude towards my family and myself when attending your pub yesterday evening at 1800hrs for my birthday meal. I was confused and still am as to why someone would state when I ordered myself a starter ‘you know this is going to hold up everyone else’s food don’t you’ ? The teenage female who had dark hair and was wearing a black t shirt was extremely helpful and also the manager in the floral shirt. This turned out to be an extremely poor experience for myself & my family and for this reason I will not be returning to this pub. Certain staff need a refresher on how to treat customers, times are tough enough as it is and it’s not everyday you get family together for a sit down meal.

The gentleman at the bar mike was an absolute delight. He was able to help our party with fussy allergens and vegetarian options, whilst also entertaining us with his sincere serenading renditions of the frozen soundtrack (let it go was a sheer delight). The landlady Sara made us feel at ease without being to imposing and the rest the staff were incredibly accomadating. Food was top notch and my halloumi baguette was incredible. Will definitely come back.

Absolutely amazing Christmas Day lunch - just so lovely. We’ve never had Christmas lunch out before and this didn’t disappoint! Staff were amazing, so friendly and worked so hard and the food was outstanding! Massive congratulations to everyone and a huge thank you to those working on Christmas Day to deliver such a lovely meal - thank you!

The service was fantastic. As someone with allergies I felt thoroughly looked after by the manager and in safe hands with the staff. I highly recommend for anyone who has dietary requirements as they went above and beyond to ensure I had a lovely meal. I felt very looked after and that nothing was too much hassle. The manager is a credit to this establishment a shame I did not catch his name. Thank you very much as I have had many awful experiences with allergies and this was a masterclass in how to deal with them ! 5🌟

Service was excellent. Food was very nice, lovely atmosphere. The only negative was no Mixed Grill on the menu that evening.

We had a lovely Christmas catch up here. Staff were friendly and polite. Food was piping hot but also served really quickly (bonus when you're starving). We all really enjoyed the food and our evening. Reasonably priced as well.

Our birthday celebration proved to.be an excellent experience as on numerous previous visits The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble The food is hot first class cooking and very prompt service The only disappointment at this visit was the fact that we were unable to finish our meal with a.lovely coffee as their coffee machine was broken which was a great shame as we do.love to complete our dining experience with their first class coffee

Went today for a family birthday meal. As usual, the food is amazing and the staff are warm and welcoming. A perfect family village pub.

Sara and her team were fantastic when our mum’s wake was held there last Tuesday. The buffet food was really lovely and plenty of it. The staff were as friendly and welcoming as always.

The wife meets up with her sisters every week here. They have a great to.e and say the food and service are good. I have had a few meals here and yes they are not bad. Good value and the service is good.

Another fantastic evening at the Star. Usual amazing staff ready to give a warm welcome along with some new friendly faces. Food was excellent! We got to try the specials menu which was delicious, the chicken and chorizo kebab was delicious. 10/10 as always!

Thought we would drop in for early meal. Very busy just managed to find a table for 5. Ordered meals , meals came quiet quickly. Only problem asked for medium rare steak more medium than rare. Came out more medium than rare. Asked servic this was wrong. Fair play taken straight back to get new one. Was very tasty 😋 thanks nice meals. ....

Called in the other day for an afternoon meal. Opted for the fish and salad rather than chips as I never eat them. Lovely piece of fish and an exceptional salad for a local pub. It really was a very good meal. Nice atmosphere and very polite and helpful staff. It's not my first time and certainly won't be my last. Thanks you very much to all at The Star.

We love The Star Pub in Dinas Powys. It has a lovely country pub feel, with welcoming staff, excellent service, and great traditional pub food. We’ve been here for Sunday lunch a few times and have always been really happy. We’ve been searching for a great local pub for Sunday lunch for a while, and we’re so glad to have discovered The Star. *Update* we since have returned midweek to eat from the main menu, the food was also excellent! 😊

Although we have dined here quite a few times especially on special occasions I was actually appalled at the way my friend was treated when she called in to book a table for 14 for 30 september.we have booked for the same amount of people before without any problem provided the food order in advance as requested and have always enjoyed ourselves so I'm finding it hard to understand why this booking was refused for September 30 but we could go on Oct 1st.The reason for this booking was a birthday and definitely not for the offer of 30% off - I will add that the team member was going to take this booking but the chef refused so please be prepared to have your bookings for large parties refused although the website says groups welcome -other than this occasion the food the service and the atmosphere has always been very good and Sarah the manager amazing -such a shame because we doubt if we will celebrate there again.

My husband and I ordered a drink. Sat down then ordered food. My curry was an Wednesday deal with a drink. Went to get my drink included with the meal but was told as we had paid outright and not on the tab cldnt have the drink. The bar lady hadn't offered me a drink when I placed my order. Not very Impressed
