The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in North East

Had a wonderful evening, the service was efficient and friendly. The food was outstanding. I had halibut and my husband had the ribeye steak. Both were exceptional. For a special night out I would highly recommend it.

We have had great visits to Vesuvio recently, and stayed for a few drinks. Yesterday 4 of us stayed for only one as didn’t feel welcomed by barman. Upon asking for wine advice he replied ‘they are all good, we are not Wetherspoons’. And continued to have an unfriendly manner. We left after one drink each and spent our money in Twenty2’s. We will look in door next time to see who is working.

Had creamy garlic mushrooms to start followed by lasagne. Very disappointed with the food quality and quantity. The mushroom starter had about 3 mushrooms sliced up in it and a lot of sauce, too much sauce for the 2 very small pieces of toasted bread it was served with. The lasagne portion was small and there was very little meat in it. Overall I left the restaurant still hungry. Service was good which is why I gave it 3 stars and not 2.

Great prices on spirits. Lovely selection of real ale. Great Beer garden overlooking the river. Very busy bar filled with locals and dogs. Lovely separate lounge with double doors onto a beer garden. No loud music. Old music videos on tvs but not turned up loud (good!) monthly live music on Sunday afternoons.

Phil and team always are welcoming,service with a smile and banter. A gem of a little pub in heddon.

We booked a festive afternoon tea back in October and arrived today to find our corner table reserved for us and beautifully laid with China crockery complete with Christmas crackers. We enjoyed hot turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches and fruit scones served with huge pots of fresh cream and strawberry jam. A mince pie each and chocolate fudge cake for my hubby and a slice of homemade Christmas cake for me were all absolutely delicious. The icing on the cake for us though were the fabulous, attentive, friendly staff who work tirelessly to ensure that our visit was perfect, thank you all so much!

Great place, good food and wonderful staff. Only reason I've marked it down on atmosphere is that it was a week day at noon. It's not a nightclub or an edgy restaurant, it's a lovely cafe with food solid food options and a decent coffee. Would recommend.

This one is a bit confusing, is it The Golden Lion or is it The Lion House? It was the Golden Lion the last time I was in Allendale and TripAdvisor reviewed this venue in 2021, but anyway, let’s press on with this review, a table for two booked for 1430 for the lady friend, myself and the two dogs in tow. We arrived in good time, we were shown to a nice little table located at the back wall of the main bar near a very warm fire, a lager shandy and Guinness were immediately ordered in. We had a look through the Sunday lunch menu, but soon afterwards the first disaster struck, our first choice of starters, the Harissa lamb was all gone! So I opted for the baked Camembert sharer as second but the second disaster struck as this was also all gone too! So we begrudgingly had to go for the cream of mushroom soup, I wasn’t interested in the chilli prawns. I opted for a three-meats lunch, but disaster struck a third time as it turned out there was no roast chicken left, all the unexpected walk-ins had eaten everything, so I had the beef and pork loin, the good lady having beef. Extras of cauliflower cheese were ordered. Puddings ordered were sticky-toffee pudding and double-chocolate brownie, thankfully I wasn’t too stuffed to eat this! All food arrived within reasonable time and thankfully was better than we’d expected, portions were huge, the soup was good, the meat beautifully seasoned and the puddings satisfyingly sticky and sweet. Service was very attentive and super friendly. The venue itself a good mix of locals and walk-ins creating a lively atmosphere and good ambiance for a Sunday afternoon. Happy to recommend The Lion House but I advise getting there earlier than we did, as random walk-ins might have been in and gobbled everything prior to you getting there!

Went in today again as I was here Saturday gone. As always amazing cakes. Got my new favourite the White Chocolate Cheesecake and a coffee. My mam got the Strawberry Tart. Absolutely amazing loved the food, coffee and the staff. If in Stanley this place is a must. Thank you ladies.

Mis amigos y yo tuvimos una reunión en The Wolsey esta mañana. Ser celíaco es un poco doloroso, por decir lo menos, pero todo el personal de los servidores a los gerentes eran increíbles. Me sentí en muy buenas manos con su cuidado y atención. A pesar de que probablemente era un dolor 🫣, el personal fue muy servicial al permitirme sentir que podía disfrutar con confianza del brunch más delicioso, a pesar de mis problemas dietéticos que tristemente pueden hacer que comer fuera un gran desafío. Qué equipo tan increíble, muchas gracias de nuevo.

Tenía la hamburguesa 'De Vlaeminck' y era excelente. Una empanada jugosa muy espesa con un sabor encantador. Tenía una porción generosa de pastrami que se cortó en rodajas delgadas tan agradables y ligeras. Las patatas fritas eran muy promedio. No muy crujiente y solo eran tibios. Mi novia estaba más satisfecha por sus patatas fritas cursis que se mantuvieron calientes sobre todo debido al queso. Usaban rodajas de queso de tan poca calidad pero no eran demasiado caras por lo que eran. El personal era muy agradable y el lugar es acogedor, así como claramente popular. Es local para nosotros en un área limitada, así que probablemente a algún lugar vamos de nuevo.
