We know this place well, mainly for the amazing breakfasts (pancakes and bacon oh my). We sat outside on the sun terrace at the back with our beers today just peaceful and friendly. A warm welcome. A wonderful place....

One of the best places we've ever been. A beautiful cycling themed cafe, but don't fret if that's not your scene as it caters for everyone. Beautiful cozy atmosphere and amazing food. Breakfast, burgers and pancakes were all excellent. The cafe also features an outside sitting area for when the weather is nice.

Poped in after a bike ride Had an amazing lemon scone and the coffee is always 10/10, staff are great dead chatty and it has a really nice ambience

I had the American pancakes, except in my experience these seemed to just be the small, thin prepackaged pancakes you get in the supermarket. They didn't seem to be fresh fluffy thick american pancakes. They were £7.50 and i was really disappointed. But the place is nice and the burgers and fries look good so does the English breakfast.

After a long dog walk this is a great place to relax, have a drink, a bacon and tomato bun, drink and biscuit for the dog, without worrying if your muddy boots are gonna wreck the furniture. Old comfy seats and sofas, basic wooden seats and tables. Superb tunes. Great cyclists memorabilia with a cycle workshop on hand. And if the sun is shining sit outside and enjoy a beer. Lovely friendly staff.

We called for breakfast , on passing . Waitress very unfriendly !!! Ordered breakfast , 2 out of 3 drinks ordered came . Had to chase 10 mins later for third drink . Food came a was very unimpressive . Took home for the dog ! Someone else also returned two breakfasts while we were in . Definitely wouldn’t recommend ! Service with a smile goes a long way these days .

Stopped in for our first ever (long overdue) visit and were really pleased with our decision. Food cooked fresh. It was tasty (it's not until you taste it that you are reminded of the sort of processed slop you get served in even medium-priced restaurants!). Also plentiful and reasonably priced. Very pleasant staff. Wouldn't hesitate to call in again.

My son was calling in to Pedalling Squares on his way home and called me to ask if I wanted anything bringing home. He knows I can’t eat Gluten hence asked what was gluten free and was told anything could be served gluten free apart from the black pudding. I opted for a gluten free burger and wedges and to his amazement when they presented the order they told him there were no gluten free buns Hanse there was no bun or they could give him an ordinary bun. I am sorry but it’s unacceptable to present a cooked burger and not let the customer know there were no gluten free buns. Even worse was to offer a ordinary bun to someone that can’t eat gluten. There was no reduction in price for the omission of the bun and this place really needs to take care as allergens are very dangerous and obviously this could of been a near miss.

Our favourite place for breakfast! Me and my partner came across Pedalling Squares when I lived around the corner. We now live 30 mins away on the other side of the river, but always come back over and over again. The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the decor is really interesting. We tell everyone we know about it. The veggie breakfast is also the best I've had anywhere.

Found this place while in Newcastle for the weekend and was up early on a Sunday morning with almost everywhere closed. The coffee is superb, the staff efficient and friendly & my sausage & bacon bap was excellent quality & very tasty. If I lived closed, I’d be a regular!

I live few miles away but regularly walk here. It's a great place to relax, have a glass of wine or cake and coffee. They play great music, it has friendly staff and a chilled atmosphere. It's dog friendly and a top spot for cyclists.

We often visit peddling Squares because the food is always lovely and the place has a nice feel to it and tonight was the same but we wanted to say a particular thank you to the young lady who was working tonight, she was working on her own in the restaurant area and it was quite busy but she was so polite and attentive and never stopped, I didn't get the young lady's name but she is a credit to the business.

Found this little gem on trip advisor this morning. Love that it’s open from 9 on a Sunday. Kate and the team were really efficient at looking after us, we got exactly what we asked for. Really tasty! We will be back. Thank you.

We visit the area around 3 times a year and stay at a local B&B, due to COVID they have stopped serving breakfasts so we looked around for somewhere to eat and stumbled across this place, so glad we did and have been back for breakfast on every visit. The food is perfect, especially love the pancakes and bacon, staff are lovely and friendly and the place is really quirky with a mix of tables and comfy seating and a little outdoor area. Next time we visit we are going to try an evening dinner as the burgers look amazing!

I’ve been a regular since the early days, never have I ever had cause to be even slightly unhappy with anything! I studied most of my degree here, I’ve hidden from bad times, and also had some of the best times here. Me and hubs had our first dates here and continue to do so, just with less smooching 🤣. Hats off to Ade and all the family and staff for bringing this delightful place to my doorstep! Amazing coffee, amazing food, amazing service and a great atmos in an abundance. 🐾☕️🍔❤️

I believe it is a former garage which now houses the cafe along with a bicycle repair area. I come mainly for the coffee which is divine and is from a local roastery in Newcastle. I can also vouch for the coffee and walnut cake...

I had never heard of this place before but I'm so glad I visited. It is unique and the food we had was fantastic. You need to stop by if you are in the area.

Anoche visité aquí por primera vez la Blaydon Race After Party. Aunque en realidad no corrí ayer, el club con el que solía correr vino a celebrarlo. Fue una noche fantástica, el lugar es realmente genial con buenas vibraciones. Creo que tiene un gran potencial para una fiesta privada, es un tamaño realmente bueno con terraza exterior. Pedimos comida y, a pesar de estar muy ocupados, llegó rápido y estaba delicioso. Me encantaría probar más comida aquí en el futuro.

Lo pasé muchas veces y me intrigó cuando mi padre tenía un negocio de muebles en este edificio hace cuarenta años.Tuve el desayuno de todo el día, que era genial, especialmente el pan frito. El café era bueno y la bienvenida muy amable.Un lugar muy peculiar que sirve buena comida.

Met a friend here who lives nearby. I’ve drove past here loads of times but never realised what it was. The place is very laid back and the burgers looked excellent. It’s got a nice atmosphere and a great place to relax.

A perfect stop off for a mid ride coffee and snack. It’s a homely, friendly place with great coffee and those little extras that will keep you going on you cycle ride.

Four of us visited this morning at 11.30 . It was busy so we sat on sofas near the fire , bit too hot there so we moved to a table when one became vacant . Coffee was good and strong . 3 had bacon and halloumi rolls and one bagel with avocado , all nice. Two shared a Dutch apple tart which had a lot of cinnamon in it but that was fine. Nice casual atmosphere . Outdoor seating if the weather was fine . Popular with cyclists of course .

In celebration of pancake day. Visited her a few days prior for some pancakes. Had the bacon, maple syrup American style pancakes and they were lovely. They had icing sugar on them. Very nice for a sweet tooth. Eager to try the fried breakfast next time. Very quirky venue, a hidden gem.

I was nervous bringing my 3 month puppy. However, no fear. The staff were fantastic. Niko felt so welcomed. Lots of cuddles.

Came in to get my bike serviced and thought I would stop for a coffee and relax.. very glad I did. The atmosphere is great and the customer service is amazing! I will definitely be back soon!

Whether you a cyclist or not you need a very good reason not to give this place a try. The only problem is that other people have different items off the menu which means that you wish you had a bigger belly . The soup that we did have was lush

Pedalling Squares is quirky, friendly and has the best burgers you can buy. There are board games to keep the little ones entertained, and a licensed bar for mum and dad. The food is lovely and the staff are attentive and friendly. Would certainly recommend!

What a great little cafe/bar. Almost enough to make you want to go out and buy an old bike for the excuse of coming to get it repaired at this lovely little place. Tucked away behind jashin and nisha on the bank you would be forgiven for not knowing it was there. But now we k is this is going to become a firm family favourite.

Absolutely loved it here. Food great, service great. Good value and hearty sizeable food. Clearly all home made . The ambience is very cool even if you’re not a cyclist. We went with two young kids and they enjoyed the novelty. Even baby changing facilities. Perfect stop off if heading round Newcastle north or south. Give costa or Services a miss!

Brilliant place sit and shoot the breeze or catch up with friends. Celebrate all things cycling/triathlon, drink coffee eat cake and peruse the menu. Bike racks for your pride and joy and comfortable sofa's for your rear. Get your bike repaired by the brassworks. Cake is spot on here and staff friendly, really warm atmosphere

Great place to go if you fancy a dance in a really relaxed environment. The venue is quirky, a cycle cafe by day and is transformed in the evening. There is a bar, food is mainly burgers but really good burgers. Ambiance is good and d j plays an eclectic mixture of soul and funk. You feel as though you are in a private club but it is open to all. Would recommend a visit if you want an evening with a difference.

Visit regularly with my cycling buddies for coffee and cake, it is brilliant and great value... The cakes are always spot on and a generous portion

This place is great for breakfast - five of us were served with tasty well presented hearty food and steaming hot tasty drinks in no time at all; a centrally placed wood burner keeps you toasty and there's a lively quirky atmosphere with cyclists coming & going the whole time.

I'm lucky enough to live nearby and stop in whenever possible. the food is top quality, with some good beers to go with it. the staff are very friendly and always fuss over my dog when i bring him in. I cant recommend the place highly enough, well worth a visit

Fantastic cafe for all types. You never know who will walk through the door. Informal atmosphere, informal quirky decor (cycling orientated). Friendly staff. Food is always excellent. This is now turning into a weekly or fortnightly visit. Fantastic team, keep it going.

I went out for lunch with a friend. Unsure of what to expect.

Had heard good reviews about Pedalling Squares and in our quest for the perfect coffee stop chose a route to make a visit. We were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted with the offer of bringing our bikes indoors. The menu looks scrumptious and reasonably priced. The coffee was delicious and the ‘Geordie Banger company’ sausage Stottie was one of the best we’ve had. (And we’ve eaten a lot of bangers!). Patrick the mechanic was approachable, gave some good advice and happened to have some colour coordinated bar tape handy to fit on my return.

I went for the 1st time and was greeted with a good atmosphere brill quirky place to meet have coffee n chat or eat. I was pleasantly greeted and asked what i would like very quickly and informed of what was going to happen over the next few weeks with music events. A must go to place to meet with friends n chat and try the menu .a very good mix of people of all ages go and love it

I've been here a few times on recommendations and pure force (which I'm super pleased about) The guys who work there are beardy and super friendly! If you love cycling then this is the place to go. Lots of cycling magazines, memorabilia, and a tv to watch the Tour De France or whatever cycling is on. A very relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a sandwich or pancakes (which I had).

Have only just stumbled upon this little gem, even though I lived in Swalwell and now in Blaydon and must have driven past more times than I care to consider. A great atmosphere and no you don't need to be in Lycra to visit....although you wouldn't feel out of place if you did! Only visited twice (on consecutive days) so far, but will be far from my last visit. Food sampled was fresh and very reasonably priced. Coffee was strong as I like it.... feel privileged to have discovered this on my doorstep and look forward to returning soon.

Brilliant and very unusual place love the feel and atmosphere inside, all bikers, walkers and dogs are welcome which is very appealing to us. My partner had a burger which he said was one of the nicest he'd had and it was very reasonably priced. It was our first visit after reading the great reviews about the place and we will definitely be back. If you like a nice laid-back atmosphere around friendly people I'd definitely visit this place, it's a hidden gem.

I've been meaning to come here for ages but somehow it never happened. I was nearby a few weeks ago but couldn't find the places-it's tucked away up a side street. Yesterday I finally made it and it was so worth the wait. So if like me you have trouble finding it-persevere-you will be glad you did. Everything about it is perfect. it is firstly a cycling enthusiasts meeting place and repair shop, but it's also just a great place for a coffee and a bite to eat. I had a quality Americano and fried egg sandwich for brunch. But the menu is extensive. Halloumi, breakfasts, burgers, paninis, pancakes, falafel, waffles, jackets and chocolate sweets galore for sale at the bar. All this surrounded by cycling memorabilia, half assembled bikes in the repair shop out the back and friendly bearded staff. I can't praise this place enough. Next time I might even come on my bike. Thank you pedalling squares. See you again.

I was cycling C2C with a group and we happened upon this place, the staff and food were excellent, just what we needed after nearly a day in the saddle. One of our group had an issue with this bike and the workshop in the cafe was able to sort out the problem and also replaced a set of worn brake pads for another in the group. I would love to live closer to this place as I would be there a lot... Thanks....

Popped in here just out of curiosity as heard lots of good report s . Definitely didn't disappoint really really quirky not what I was expecting at all but I liked the feel of the place and very friendly staff , we just had hot chocolate , tea and cake they were all absolutely yummy ( love the tin mugs ) can't wait to go back to try there main food. The food looked lovely what other people were eating around us .

Called in after a walk with our dog, it was really nice. We called just before it closed but they went out their way to make us some food. Had the falafel and it was lovely and plentiful. Got some real ales on and plenty of choices for non alcoholic drinks. Lovely staff and our little dog was very welcome.

Called for lunch, but were almost put off by problems parking and the appearance of the cafe. Dont be! Its - quirky? with tables made from pallets and tatty chairs. You'ld expect it to be a typical "greasy spoon" - but the food is GREAT.

We love Pedalling Squares. The staff are really friendly, the cakes (especially the muesli bar) are gorgeous and venue is quirky and a great place to take our kids and play the games they have there. They also do a buskers night which is a good night out too. Definitely worth visiting

Great atmosphere and ideal for smaller parties downstairs but with the option of having a larger part in the studio upstairs. Location is close to a1 and they do a nice selection of teas, coffees, local beer, continental lagers and wines.

A quirky little place, full of cycling stuff and memorabilia that stir recollection of old times. Casual and friendly environment combined with (really!) great coffee and tasty food. We had the full english breakfast and the nutella & banana pancakes and they were good, both in terms of quantity and quality! Defiinitely a place you would like to visit if you are passing (or cycling) by!

I chose Pedalling Squares as the venue for my husband's surprise birthday party, because he loves the café and I wanted somewhere with personality and quirkiness for the event. They were very accommodating with the plans, and really friendly when I popped in to make the final arrangements. The whole thing went brilliantly. There were about 100 people, including young kids, and everyone loved the unusual setting and relaxed atmosphere. The hot buffet food was delicious and plentiful. All the staff were efficient and helpful, and patient with us when the taxis were late in arriving at the end of the party. Thank you so much - and I wouldn't hesitate to use you for any parties in the future.

We visited this bar cafe recently and were really pleasantly surprised. It's almost hidden away, but worth finding. The design and furnishing of the building was amazing. The theme of the decor is cycling and as I understand it, is because of the owners interest in cycling.

Best coffee in all the land. I have nicknamed it holy water. Amazing friendly staff. My boy has autism and is such a handful but nobody bats an eyelid in this place to his quirks and odd meltdowns. I can enjoy a beautiful cup of their black stuff while I bring in the chaos.

Had been meaning to try this little place for some time, as I work close by.. So took the husband yesterday for a late lunch... it was absolutely brilliant.. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming even if you aren't a cyclist enthusiast.. we went for a burger, and boy was it good, it looked as good as, if not better than any magazine picture, and it was tremendously tasty, the chips were fresh cut, chunky style home made best tasting.. portions are more than adequate, and the prices more than fair.

I keep seeing all over Facebook how this place is the best coffee shop in Newcastle. For a start it is in Swalwell, not Newcastle, and in fact it isn't even the best coffee shop in Swalwell, and there's only two of them.

I know everyone will disagree because this is obviously one of the current "trendy" places to go but I just just don't get he hype about this place! I've been twice now for breakfast and lunch and on both occasions I've felt like I'm interrupting the lad serving whilst he's on the computer. The food was fine, just ok, it felt like cheap coleslaw and ingredients but a decent cup of coffee in a grubby environment that's trying to be too cool. I just don't get it, I want to, it's on my door step and prices aren't too bad, but I really don't get it. Sorry!

We came down for brunch. This place is on the doorstep yet we've never actually been. We did have a little wait for food but we're in no rush so it wasn't an issue. The food that arrived was really really good.
