Very disappointed this previously pleasant cafe is now a "sweetie shop". Still selling teas and coffees (slowly) in takeaway containers; but the focus is clearly now "takeaway".

The burger and cider was very nice, but the main issue was that none of the staff were wearing face masks or gloves. Whilst queuing for the toilet, we saw our burgers being made but the cook was not wearing gloves and was breathing over the food without a mask on. Put us off eating the burgers to be honest. There was also only one unisex toilet available. This was inconvenient particularly as the queue snaked around the courtyard where customers are sitting. Only having one toilet is also a concern given the coronavirus situation. It is such a shame as such a lovely cafe with a lot of potential, but measures not been implemented properly!

Stumbled on this cafe after reading the reviews on TA and we were on our way to the metro centre. Cafe is on the main road with a general free car park very close by in the side street. The cafe itself is small with wooden seating and pleasant staff who serve quickly (cafe was empty mind). The food itself (scrambled eggs, for me was just warm and bland) but brown toast was of good quality, my son thought his fried eggs were nice. Toilet door (unisex) was broken (unable to close as it was swollen) and a little on the dirty side (and it was only 10:30am.). Latte was one of those made from a pod (like a Tassimo). The cafe was also very cold in temperature. Not a place I would come to again as were not local to it and feel for £10 we could have a better breakfast in warmer conditions.

Go regularly to this great cafe. Regular breakfast is just enough to fill you but not leave you stuffed. Very friendly staff and very quick service

A great little traditional 'British style cafe' with good food and great value for money. Pros: Not prententious or hipster or punk in any way shape or form - this is a traditional cafe and doesn't pretend to be anything else, and I like that. Food is good, cooked fresh and hot. Good size portions so great value for money. Friendly staff (who are the owners too I think.) Cons: It's right next to the pretty busy road but to be fair plenty of other cafes are close to roads. I wasn't given a choice of breads for toast so I guess it's sliced white only which I'm not a fan of; and maybe it's the most popular choice here but I'm used to at least a choice of wholemeal/brown or white at cafes. The seating area is quite small with 4 small tables but benches around 50% of the wall space, yet the kitchen area is very big so perhaps they do a lot of catering orders. No espresso here but that's also a good reason to have tea instead (which I did.) I had scrambled eggs and bacon on toast with a pot of tea and it was cheaper and nicer than typical Wetherspoons. Definitely worth a look for cooked breakfast, brunch, lunch or something to take-away if you are in the area. You can also have a pre or post walk along the side of the river Tyne which is only a couple of minutes walk away.

This cafe is quite new, the food is breakfast based with a good selection of home cooked scones and quiches, immaculately clean, fresh decoration and clean windows, keeping the windows clean close to a busy road must be difficult call in and try it out, its small and local the standard of service was very good and good value George

Been several times now, sometimes with friends, sometimes with my partner or my 3-year-old niece. Every time we are made to feel very welcome; the staff are lovely. There is a homely feel about the place. The food is all homemade, hearty and tasty. Great to see a local business doing well!

Visited for the first time and I must say that it is a lovely little cafe that sells lots of home made food and makes food to order. The prices are amazing and the staff are lovely. Such a nice change from the expensive cafes that dominate the high streets today. Thanks girls
