The servers (donna and alex) were amazing and polite lovely people.food was 12/10 best meal we have had in a while the chef (steven) even brought our starter out for us made us feel special will definitely be coming back.

Donna who served us was one of the nicest people you could meet. We came me, my partner and my child. she even give him a pound for a toy. She needs a raise never stops smiling and helping people out.

We come here quite often, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced, service is always very friendly we very rarely go anywhere else.

We visited for a family meal and the food was lovely! Staff were friendly and attentive. We have also been previously for fundraisers and events (Leek Show) which have always been organised well and make the pub a great place for families to visit.

Booked table for 6.30. Pub was very busy. Staff explained that wait would be in excess of one hour. Did not to want to wait that long so left without dining

Had chicken and mushroom pie pastry was rock, hard ..complained he said sorry ,,my friend had sausage and mash ,.sausages were burnt .complained .the meal was take back to kitchen and they scraped the burnt off and returned it back to table .After we had waited 35 minutes for food my other friend had salad bow, with bacon and chicken which was nice

Visited today. Lovely friendly pub with fantastic views over the Tyne River towards Newcastle city centre. Beer very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My husband and I were served by a lovely lady called Donna who was extremely welcoming. Looking forward to going back and trying out the food as the menu looked great

Donna was amazing with my children. She really went out of her way to treat them so well. They’re autistic and my younger son has cancer and she was so welcoming with them and never treated them any different to anyone else. She’s so pleasant and clearly loves kids.

I am a regular at the highwayman and I was excited to try the new menu. The new menu was absolutely delicious I had the Boss burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had.

I visit the highwayman regularly at all different days and times and each time it's great. The staff and management are very friendly and they can't do enough to help with anything. The regulars in the bar are very friendly too I could listen to there banter all day. It's reasonable prices and the Carling pint is always a good pint.

Came up with my mother in law and family for her birthday. The food was perfect and the service exceptional. The outside looks very tired and could put some people off but once you get inside it's lovely. Staff are very friendly definitely worth a visit.

Good food for a decent price, the kids enjoy it too. Staff are lovely and friendly to approach, got a stake and chicken combo, cooked the way I wanted & the kids got a main and a pudding for £5 can’t go wrong.

The Highwayman is a brilliant local pub but we were dissapointed at the lack of vegan and vegetarian mains. Unfortunately we all had to go and eat elsewhere.

Awful. You can tell by the owners replies to the lowest rated reviews on how they treat people and what they think of them!. They simply don't care!. Food and service is terrible. Avoid at all costs!.

First impressions from the outside are not great it looks a bit tired and dated however the the smells from the kitchen are very inviting. Inside the restaurant area is comfortable and welcoming. The staff are friendly and welcoming especially Donna who does her utmost to make your visit memorable.the food is well presented tasty and very reasonably priced. Great views from the restaurant across the valley to Newcastle taking in all the bridges. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning soon I hope

Just to say a great big thank you to the staff at the Highwayman on Saturday night. It was a fantastic private party, great food, decoration and a fun time. A lot of hard work must have gone into the preparation to deliver an excellent party atmosphere. We'll done.

Great for brunch, lunch, dinner, snack or quiet (even not so quiet) drink! Been many times, always good grub, decent prices and excellent staff service. So friendly! My partner has to be careful what she eats and asst manager Vicky so helpful and knowledgeable with allergens and menu choices. I realise it's a chain restaurant but we're not locals as not all of this chain are equal. The Highwayman is one of the best in our opinion!

I'd like to thank The Highwayman team for sorting out my brother's funeral wake yesterday. The buffet was fantastic and very well priced with loads of food. The team were fantastic. Thank you all for making a difficult day easier and hassle free. Much appreciated

Me and my daughter came to spend a voucher we had gifted to us for xmas. We had starters main and desert. Starters was over cooked. Meal was steak and was very fatty and did not taste like a good steak at all amd the hunters chicken was wet and tasted like pre cooked chicken from a packet. It was wet and not much sauce at all and the chips are frozen chips. Desert was brownie and was not brownie at all. It was like mushy cake and tasted terrible. We are very dissapointed in our visit. When i cane in i seen a chip on the floor squashed and staff walked past it many of times and no one picked it up and it was at the steps so someone ended up standing on it including me as i came in. The lady behind the bar was very nice and helpfull.

A warm welcome is always on offer and the food and drinks are excellent. We regularly pop in when visiting family. Donna is a star.....

Nice pub for a drink but food poor. We ordered the surf and turf . The frozen scampi burnt to a crisp and steak very well done when we asked for medium. Very basic food which seems difficult to even get right.

We have again had our granddaughter's eighth birthday party for our family. This is our family tradition to go their, every year as the food is good, staff are great and its reasonably priced. Our grandchildren love it. We will be back again next year

When people book tables maybe put the table number on the reservation board on the table so you know people can't just move the reservation boards to other tables.

SHOUT OUT Just had a lovely light lunch can highly recommend BLT Wrap and Crispy Haloumi wrap with chips don’t usually do chips but whole light lunch was BEAUTIFUL With a free soft drink for that price worth treating yourself Short staffed but would never have known as meal came so quick. Thank you to Joanne manageress who was in the kitchen as her chef off and to Donna who was keeping front of house ticking over and the friendly other young lady on duty. See you all again soon J & D
