Great food at a great price and friendly service.

My wife, Kath and I cycled up the cycle track from Durham with the intention of regenerating ourselves at the farm shop at Knitsley only to discover it was closed on Mondays. Desperate for at least a sniff of cake we had to commit to the extra three miles into Consett where we discovered Edward's. It's a cracking little place that serves good, honest hot and cold food. We had a hot pork, stuffing and gravy bun with chips chased down with a cake. Lovely! The young lady that served us was lovely. Friendly and very helpful. No famous high street coffee shops or fast food franchise for us. Real people giving a good service.

Buena comida, realmente disfruté lo que tenía. Había unas 4 señoras trabajando y siendo súper amable con los clientes. Mientras me abría paso en la cola me di cuenta de que un miembro del personal era tan inteligente y miserable que temía ser servido por ella! Por supuesto que la entendí a ella y la expresión miserable, las pestañas falsas horribles gigantes y el hecho de que ella estaba llamando a todo el mundo compañero era solo poner para mí personalmente. Vergüenza porque ella era el único problema destacado

Was lovely when it first opened got cheese brger n chips few weeks ago and a cheese toastie burger wasn't good chips were hard and toastie was lovely

Really lovely cafe, super friendly welcome from the staff and regulars alike. The freshly baked scones were, according to J, "top tier". Will definitely come back to try our the breakfasts. Only comment would be that a plant based milk on offer would be great for the vegans/lactose intolerant.

Best place for breakfast and teas in Darlington

Excellent value, home cooked mince & dumplings. I was recommended by my friend John and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I'm a cancer sufferer and Charlie, the boss, couldn't have been more helpful.

Popped in for a quick pit stop today. First impressions - bright, airy and spacious. Choice of toasties, soups, sandwiches etc. We had an epic bacon roll and a bacon/cheese scone. Both were delicious. Service was good and food brought to the table within 10 minutes. Free iced water on the counter to help yourself was a nice touch. We will be back!

Lovely pub opposite the river in this pretty village. The pub is spotless and thoughtfully laid out as you don't feel on top of other tables. We ate here twice, the first being a scrummy bubble and squeak pie with Guinness gravy and the best chips we've ever had. Second was the Sunday veggie roast which is also potentially the best we've had in a pub. The texture and taste of the lentil loaf was amazing and the sides and yorkies were amazing. Highly recommend.

lovely carvery - recommend getting small plate as you can always pile up the food. Rabeya was great she was attentive and checked we were happy with eveything
