Enjoyed a lovely meal here on grill night. Salmon was moist with crispy skin and nice bernaise sauce. The sauce Diane was excellent. Service good, pleasant staff, value for money. Well worth a visit. Only niggle was background music, need something more in the easy listening range as found the music a bit irritating. I’m sure this could be remedied...? 👍

My wife and I visited the Gallery just after the start of the new academic year and were really pleased with the quality of the food, its presentation and the attention of the students. Well done to everybody involved in this excellent enterprise.

We have been enjoying immensely dining in the restaurant of our local college. The food has been cooked and served by enthusiastic talented students. We attended the Christmas lunch, the Grill nights, looking forward to the lamb taster night and another lunch booked for next week. Give this restaurant a try. You will not be disappointed

We have organised our Xmas lunch here for the last several years, and there were 25 at atble. One must bear in mind that this is a training restaurant. This year the menu choice was as usual, varied, presentation had been worked on since last year, portions are generous and kitchen standards are high. OK the service is a little gauche, to be expected. Liquor prices are realistic. Congratulations to the management!

Me and her in doors tipped up here on 09/03/17 for the steak night which was a 8oz sirloin with chips large mushroom an a thick slice of tomatoe with a choice of sauce, now I had peppercorn sauce with mine which was a tad watery and not very peppery My steak was medium to well done it was not to bad a little more fatty on the edge then I am used too but hers in door's steak was really fatty which she cut off and left apart from that it was not too bad she had it medium The waiter came across to clear the table and asked how our meal was it was pointed out about the excess fat and watery sauce which he said he would let the kitchen know we were giving a complimentary drinks Now we know that this is a training college and if the students don't get to know what's going on in the restaurant then they'll not be able to put it right so onto the sweets I had fruit cocktail which I am not to sure but I thought it came with ice cream which I didn't get and my wife had lime posset with shortbread which see found to be very tasty and I finished off with a latte so all in all will we be back more then likely as I said this is a training college and everyone has to learn We'll just have to wait till next month's menu comes out

This Restaurant was visited by her indoor's for Christmas lunch at the beginning of December 2016 who obtained a menu up until the end of January 2017 and I noticed a Game night was on the menu for the evening of the 26/01/17 so we booked up for six o clock it was priced at 2 courses for £10 or 3 courses for £12 starters were as follows Pigeon terrine with cumberland sauce with melba toast,Chicken consomme, Smoked salmon & asparagus salad with horseradish dressing& shiso. Mains Venison loin with roasted shallots saffron potatoes, celeriac & garlic puree with red wine jus ,Sauteed breast of duck with confit duck leg fondant potato baby broccoli green beans & orange sauce. Chicken with pea & mint risotto Desserts Cinnamon churros with chocolate sauce, Vanilla souffle with chocolate ice cream, strawberry pannacotta with strawberry preserve. We started off with the smoked salmon which came with a warm bread bun we both agreed it was very nice and our main's was the venison which we waited for about less then ten minutes for the venison was very very nice and cooked to perfection as was everything else that came with it. I had the strawberry pannacotta for dessert and her in door's had some thing that had actually been changed on the menu but not worded she had apple cheesecake which she enjoyed, The pannacotta was fantastic. Now the portions weren't huge but they were very filling and the presentation was very good as well, obviously as the address suggests this is a training college and the tutor did come out to meet us unfortunately we were the only dinner's in that night he did mention that a few table's had cancelled on the night (probably due to the coldest night this winter up to now had summit to do with it) he told us that they were trying to build up the restaurant I reckon if they keep producing fare like we had it shouldn't take long hopefully, We had drink's with our meal 2 rose wine's a larger, lime& soda a tea & coffee and the total Bill came to £36 a bargain eh,We also came away with another menu for February which includes a steak night less then £20 for two think we'll be back for that So we enjoyed it so why not be bold and give it a go they also have a lunch time menu and afternoon tea

Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews. The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food... ... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake. Superb.

My cousin and I were hugely impressed by Castaways. I had been reluctant to go because about 20 years ago the original café had been taken over by a useless couple. But when I passed and looked in, I could see that its original atmosphere had been recreated by the current management. Our reception was very friendly. The café was full (always a good sign) and we were third in the queue. Our table was soon ready and we were seatedby a waitress. We were very comfortable and the atmosphere was nice. Many pleasant people there as customers happily dining and chatting. Good choice of food and drink. I had the traditional breakfast and my cousin had… I think it was avocado and egg on sourdough bread. We were both very content with our lunch. I will certainly return and bring members of my family to enjoy castaways. Nicely sited, easy car parking and great views over Seaton Sluice and the sea. Get yourself along there and have a treat!
