Very pleasant surroundings but in the middle of outside refurbishment making parking a problem but this is only temporary. Friendly staff and decent food.

Really lovely welcoming place. Very busy but we had booked a table. Staff very attentive and pleasant. Food was amazing and great choices. There is building work in progress which will be great with the terrace and extra space. Cannot wait to return. Many thanks to all

Another 1st and another one to come back to. Currently getting some building work done, but didn't distract was it was on the outside. Dog friendly, always a winner. I had the double burger and my other half had a huge plate of nachos. Very nice. They also do food for dogs, we got a selection of meats for our schnauzer with some veg. That came in a paper bowl, so we were able to bring back what he didn't eat. It was early on and not many in, but others have been later and it's always busy. Well worth the journey.

Haven't been here for a while so thought we would try. So glad we did. There is some building work going on but that didn't affect our visit and it will be nice by the looks of things when finished. We booked a table of 8 which was ready when we arrived. Inside is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Staff came round quickly for drinks orders and then food. There is a good choice on the menu. All the food came. Quickly despite being busy and was plentiful and very tasty. Prices are in line with most other places but food is very tasty here. We would definitely recommend and will go again

Wonderful food served with a smile and in a lovely setting, what more do you want? The menu always has some options for nut free or gluten free meals. There is always the great British classic, hearty meals. There are also always options representing other cuisines, such as Chinese, Japanese, Indian or French dishes. The puddings are to die for. We often go as a family, it is family friendly. The children menu offer lots of nice options and the portions for children are very generous. Overall, a perfect experience, highly recommended. 👌

Unfortunately not the best visit. Ale was 'off' very sour tasting and smelling. Though was resolved with a replacement beverage no issue. Crab starter wasn't great as smelt heavy of fish and tasted bitter, which was taken off the bill. Jerk chicken skewers tasty. Pizza had Unfortunately been left under heat lamp or waiting and had dried waiting for other table main, the butter chicken was very good and wild mushroom rice was tasty as was the naan. Maybe down to being extremely busy with also long waits between ordering and courses.

First time visit. Friendly warm welcome, great and attentive service. 4 of us had sunday lunch, and not a single complaint. Food was devine, portions were well plenty enough (if not a little too much meat) which was all perfectly cooked. Full of flavour, with lovely tasty Yorkshire puddings and the the pork crackling was just perfect. Would of loved a slightly smaller portion so we could of sampled the desserts, which also looked devine. Well worth the extra travel and extra money (but still great value for what you get). Cannot fault anything at all will definitely be back.

Can not fault. We came in this evening with 3 of our children. The filet steak was unreal as were the desserts. The kids enjoyed their meals and I was well looked after with it came to needing another passionfruit martini. Fabulous experience for our first time here. Will definitely come again

The food and service is fantastic. I hadn't been here for years because the food and service was poor, in my opinion but under new owners and management it is one of my favourite places to eat and drink.

We booked a table for my son's 17th birthday and as it was a busy Sunday and we were a large party of 12 we were offered two tables next to each other. This would have been fine only when we arrived the tables were no where near each other, half the party were a cross the other side of the restaurant?! After that things went from bad to worse.... We thought we might all swap seats mid dinner so we all get to see the other table but the servers didn't take the orders for the whole party at the same time. The first table were eating their mains while the other were just getting their starters? So no mingling possible. Most of the food was ok but the roast chicken dish was plated like a mountain and drowned in gravy so my Yorkshire pudding fell off the plate as it got to the table. It rolled off and I was not offered a replacement. There were no roast potatoes and the mash went to mush. Only one of the two tables were offered dessert? When we had arrived they took a cake I had brought with me to store in the kitchen. Without any warning or checking if we were ready they then shoved three candles in it and delivered it to the table! I had 17 candles and a nice cake topper ready in my bag and didn't get to use them as I was not given the chance. The other table also weren't able to join in at this point as there was no warning. I've never been for a birthday meal and not been asked if we are ready for the cake! We were not ready. His birthday was ruined by poor communication, staff incompetence and a messy oddly plated gravy drowned Sunday roast. I will not be returning. I wish I had stayed home.

Food was beautiful, staff are so friendly and attentive. Great selection of drinks available and a relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait for my next visit.

Afternoon dinner out and got to say it was superb. Food was the best I've had and there is a wide choice of starters mains and puds if you can squeeze in. It's a gem of a place and we'll worth visit . Staff where 5 star. It gets busy weekends and it's advised to book. Also it's dog friendly with a wide selection of dog meals which are once again of a high quality.

Popped in for a family meal, it was Saturday lunch and didn’t book, we got seated straight away. The music was nice in the background, quite a cosy place and the staff are friendly. The food was really nice, I had the chicken tikka flatbread with salmon and mash, and it was tasty. Drinks are well priced and there wasn’t a rush to give the table back. Toilets are well maintained, at the top of the stairs. The car park is large and free. I’d return, definitely.

Really delicious food that was very reasonably priced and the service was great. Lovely open fire and a bookshelf on the way in if you need entertainment! Really enjoyed our visit and can't wait to go back.

Amazing place. Beautiful food, great portions and very tasty. Dog friendly and they even have their own menu which is a great idea, not wasting food and not charging too much for it. They also have a children's menu which was very nice and my son ate most of it. Once again great portion sizes even for kids. The service was great and everyone made us feel welcome. It was a lovely Christmas atmosphere too. All round a lovely evening x

Attended with my fiance for their festive menu and the food was great, we've visited frequently before and the high standard of food and service is always met. One of my favourites in the local area!

We visit the Owl and the Otter very regularly, went last night and decided on both off us having the Festive turkey dish . Staff and service always 10/10 , the Turkey Xmas Dinner would also recieved 10 if it had came a bit Hotter ,that was the only disappointment and reason why I would give it 8/10 .

Food was all well presented. Excellent portions. We had 2 sunday lunches....one beef and one pork. The pork was cooked to perfection, juicy and very tender. The beef unfortuneatly was very dry and very tough.....not that good for the price. We gave it to our dogs. Also, the yorkshire puddings and some of the veg were clearly cold when plated up and relied on the gravy to heat it up. 🤔 Soggy, cold yorkshires very disappointing. Our 2nd visit here and will try somewhere else. Just an honest review, and no other complaints.

First time visiting, went with friends. Atmosphere was lovely, fiid was second to none, had the seafood chowder which was to die for and you got absolutley loads, hubby had small fish and chips, which was anything but small when it came out, friends had steak pie, packed full of large steak pieces and cheeseburger with onion rings, all went down a treat Will most certainly be back.

The place was very clean, staff were lovely and very helpful. The only thing we were disappointed in was they no longer serve meals on a night only do breakfast. There is place's close by to get a evening meal. The owner said it is usually full English but was prepared to do me scrambled eggs and toast. The food was well presented and good quality. The locals were so welcoming and very friendly. I would have a return visit no problem. 😊❤️

We were here for a get-together after a funeral with the pub putting on the food. It was all good (spread of pizzas, sandwiches, pasta salad and chips) but the chips deserve a special mention. I'm not usually a big chip eater but these were superb - chunky, but with a fluffy inside, crispy outside and not a grey spot or eye in sight. This isn't our local, but I'd go back just to try the chips again! They also had some local beers on tap and went to great effort to make a shandy without loads of foam.

What a fantastic place to eat. The Sunday lunch was amazing. Top marks for presentation and portion sizes. Food was just amazing along with the atmosphere and staff were brilliant too. Would highly recommend

Disappointed, this place is definitely aesthetically pleasing however the food doesn’t taste as good as it looks (mine just didn’t look appealing) Service was fairly quick but overall there is nicer places about!

Superb meal in a busy pub/restaurant. Staff very friendly. Mushroom bruschetta, Spanish King Prawns, steak pie, fish pie etc all delicious. Very generous portions. Definitely recommended.

Stopped for a late lunch with my girlfriend and we enjoyed the superbly priced lunch menu. This came at no cost to the food quality or portion size, one of the most succulent and well cooked burgers I’ve had from a pub. Expect the evening menu is even better, certainly a genuinely impressive gastro pub I thoroughly recommend!

Sunday dinner here is absolutely gorgeous.

We were a bit apprehensive when we went in as it was really busy and quite noisy, we expected to have to wait ages to be served. We were served really promptly, and the food was really lovely. Despite being so busy, we were in no way rushed and had a lovely evening

We had a family meal at the Owl and Otter yesterday, booked late on Friday but helpfully accommodated me with a table at the only time we could get there and big enough. Superb welcome and service, food selection was great and the Sunday roasts, well you need to be hungry! The pork and beef featherblade are huge, incredibly moist and accompanied with a generous amount of vegetables and potatoes, mash and roast all in a superb gravy. But leave room, the desert menu is great and their crumbles and sticky toffee puddings will hit the spot. Good selection of draught beers, wines and spirits too. A go-to location, well worth the trip

I order salmon and prawn burger. It was full of fish bones, The waiter was rude and called me liar, my food came at least 20 min after every one had got there mains. The bread bun was burnt carbon burnt. The burger never seen salon. Loads fish bones. I was made out to be a liar. I WOULD NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. If you want insulting and call a lair it place for you. I was left upset and disgusted. Salmon and prawn burger with lots bones, it never seen salmon or prawn, Try Herring or pilcard, The waiter was in my face saying i was liar. Was embrassing If you want to be insulted and call a lair. There was load fish bones They clearly bulking out with cheaper fish and ripping off customers

One of the best places I have been for a long time! The food was amazing, could not fault anything and the staff and service were absolutely fab! Our waitress Emily could not of been more helpful and she created the best experience along with all the other staff members. Already looking forward to my next visit!

I came here to celebrate a special occasion and every single person I came with was shocked at how amazing the food and staff were. Our waitress was called Emily but we were treated really well by all the staff. It has a very nice feel to the place and the food is to die for. This is a place that you just want to keep on coming back to again and again!!

Unreal Sunday dinners, the Feather-blade beef especially. We go regularly, the food, drinks & service is ALWAYS 💯…. Would totally recommend & its definitely worth traveling for if you live out of the area.
