Facilities for young children and easily accessible from the street. The town centre will never thrive if we don't use local shops. Give it a try.

best cheesecake I've ever had all types are great, great coffee rea is fab too. The staff friendly , menu was good they even have some great trinkets and everything is well priced , well worth travelling from Newcastle to eat there

Have been coming here for a few years and it was always good But it has been took over by someone else in the past few months and I have to say it is even better the place is nicer inside the food is lovely nice to see some of the same staff and some new ones to all very friendly well done to the new owners and your breakfast was delicious

This is my go to place when in consett. Food, staff are spot on and very polite.

Great coffee served hot and lovely tea cakes and jam.This place is great for take outs and meeting friends and deserves support from the local community.

Fabulous malteser cheesecake, and other items looked just as good. Good lunch menu. Proper tearoom.

Had a cup of green tea and a peach melba, which was beautiful. Dog friendly cafe. All staff are very friendly and the service is really good. A lovely place yo have a chat with a friend. Corndbeef pie and quiche looked really good. Good selection of cakes. Well worth a visit for a nice cuppa and a treat 😋

So i know this not going to catch a eye but my aunt own the cafe, her sons work there as well.

One of the best breakfasts in the town. Good takeaway pies and pork specials. And on request they did sausage, egg and chips for me!

Lovely little cafe with good food and great service

A lovely little eatery, tucked away in a side street, but well worth the effort to find it. Although not an extensive menu, there's enough to tempt the palate. All well cooked and served. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. All making for a pleasant all-around experience. More than happy to recommend.

A nice environment, frequently cleaned. Tea and coffee all very good and nicely presented. Scones served to our taste (my wife's cold, mine warmed) by friendly staff. Just all good.

Eggs Benedict very tasty. Banoffee cheese cake simply devine (not for those counting calories 🤣). Lovely latte and good service, couldn’t ask for more. Worth a visit and I’ll be back!!

Absolutely love this place. It's just a small little cafe but it's so nice and welcoming. The staff are lovely and helpful. The food is freshly prepared and delicious, the cakes are so nice and some are even gluten free

This place is fantastic, not only for the food but the service too. The only down fall for me and many other new mums is that there isnt baby changing facilities so it can be quite challanging.

Decor and staff are very nice. Food was OK. 20 minutes is a bit too long to wait at lunchtime. My burger was very messy to eat and was pink in the middle. I don't mind that but plenty of others would complain. Chips were slightly over done but again, I don't mind that. There's nothing major that you would complain to the staff about. The cooking just needs a bit more attention to detail.

We called for a late breakfast - the tables were clean and well spaced, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and the smokehouse bacon and cheese scones were lovely.

Lovely staff. Vegan options available, including a selection of plant based milk. Lots of syrups to choose from for coffee. We went two days running we liked it so much. (Visiting family from down South) Reasonably priced Small free car park 2 minutes walk away.

Had these last year before lockdown and couldn't wait to come back and get them again its fair to say they didn't dissapoint. Great service and great food!!!

The 3rd day of our trip was a rainy one. We were a tad bit peckish and also wanted to shelter from the rain when we came across a small cafe on a quiet street .. I ordered a quiche with a side salad and a small portion of fries with a large pot of camomile tea and my boyfriend ordered a ham and cheese panini with a side salad and coleslaw. The portion was just right and kept us going merely the whole day. We enjoyed the food . And were grateful to spend time indoors .

A very pleasant coffee shop in a quiet street in Consett - it was great to come in and eat to shelter from the rain. It was a very wet day and not good to be outside. Ordered a Ham & Cheese Panini, with side salad and coleslaw. The portion size was just about right and there were some fascinating looking cakes in the display! It kept me going pretty much most of the day. They also served homemade quiches, and hearty cooked breakfasts. Reasonably priced all the same.

First time visiting here, good choice of food available and prices are reasonable too. Currently part of the Eat Out scheme so even better value. Food was cooked freshly to order and didn't take too long. Lovely decor and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

What a great find this was. It has a wide enough menu to suit everybody, including kids, extensive range of yummy milkshakes, lovely staff - and all at prices that won't break the bank! Lots of free (for 2 hours) parking nearby made the visit easier too.

Had the 'English' breakfast which came with a hash brown. Hash browns are part of American breakfast, not English. Also, the bacon was a bit dry, probably due to being reheated umpteen times. Had better at Morrisons cafe.

This has become our "go to" cafe for a late breakfast when shopping in Consett. Lovely staff and very inventive cooking - always new kinds of scones to try. My Cheese and chutney scone was delicious!

Just stumbled across Edwards while visiting the area. Freshly baked scones, very tasty custard flan/tart, bang on eggs benedict. Friendly staff and customers, relaxed atmosphere. Can't fault the place. Well done.

Came in today for lunch I ordered the hoisin pork fries. It was absolutely delicious and a nice size portion too. The staff were lovely and professional. I will most definitely be back

Edwards is a Saturday staple. The menu if freshly cooked and is not expensive. The egg custard tart is to die for. I could only eat another nine bits, if allowed! I normally go for the eggs benedict which I adore. My Wife normally has a panini. Lunch in under £20 with tea as well. If we are hungry we head for here. All cakes are home made. But be aware that this place can get very busy at times. The staff are almost run off their feet but are always pleasant to all and every one.

Visited a few times now and always a nice pleasant atmosphere.Fancied something a little different so we went for the loaded chilli fries which were amazing!I like a Latte but prefer strong coffee and here you can ask them to put in an extra shot to strengthen it up...lovely!Thoroughly recommended!

I always love a stop in here for brunch. The decor is really cool art deco and I've almost always really enjoyed the food and drinks. They have a really innovative menu, especially with their drinks. A star knocked down just because a couple of the girls working there can be a bit standoffish. One of them is very helpful though as is a male I've seen a few times. Food takes awhile but it's usually worth the wait!

called for a (VERY) light lunch while shopping. I chose a sun dried tomato and basil scome with coffee, my wife just had tea. As usual very nicely presented - the butter was melting but that was just right for my scone.All really good, and prompt service without undue haste.My only criticism - the scone was a little overcooked (I like it like that) - but it was VERY small. It was 2pm - why not just give the last 2 as they were both small?

Scones and coffee second to none, and I don't speak lightly in an area which prides itself on its scones! As for the cakes......

I called here for lunch with my son. We arrived at 12.20, filling in time before a film starting at 1.30. They had run out of paninis, so we placed our order for toasted sandwiches, which didnt arrive until just before 1. How can it take 30 minutes to make two toasties?

Lovely lunch we both had the Brie and bacon and cranberry toasty with a portion of wedges and they were excellent the staff are friendly a great find 😀

I have never dined here but only called in for drinks on a cold day. The hot chocolate (plus marshmallows) was divine and promptly served by 2 polite young people. A very nice ambience with a lovely feel to the place

Lovely friendly independent cafe

I've visited Edwards several times now with my elderly dad who can't walk far and likes to stop at every other shop for a coffee.

Lovely friendly staff. The chef was held up by a delivery and came through personally to apologise and offer a free hot drink. I wasn't waiting that long to be honest. The cherry and almond scone was delicious and the cute teapots use proper leaf tea for a really good cuppa.

Called here for coffee on a cold Saturday lunch time but once inside couldn't resist having lunch . I had steak pie which was home made and delicious and my husband had a homemade steak burger also excellent . Lovely coffee , excellent food and friendly staff and all at reasonable prices we only paid £17 for two coffees and two main meals . The breakfasts (served all day ) looked really good too will give that a try next time if I can resist the main meals of course !

Great atmosphere and food. Everything is freshly prepared with real pride, it's like your Mums kitchen. Attention that normally can't be bought. The cakes are unique, homemade and include 'free from' options. The staff are efficient and friendly. It's definitely a place in which to become a regular ...

I have visited here a few times. I have had the breakfasts which are very nice. If you like a panini with Brie, bacon and cranberry - you would love their Paninis - they are packed and they comes with small salad, coleslaw and crisps. The potato skins are lovely too - best potato skins I have had. If you a fan of loose tea, it's lovely. Staff are very friendly, worth a visit.

The food and atmosphere are becoming legendary and the standards are consistently high. My visitors and friendship now ask to go up for a meal, we bring home scones, cakes and quiches. Everyone knows I have bought them because they are so much better than homemade.

I called here with two friends for a coffee, not having visited this local café before. I ordered a cappuccino and, spotting the cheese scones (my favourite), asked for one of these. Edward (I assume) told me it was cheese and mango chutney. Now, I love cheese scones but don't like mango chutney so I said so and declined; he told me that they were trying different flavours to lift the place from the ordinary. One of my friends ordered a fruit scone and when that was brought to the table, Edward also brought quarter of a cheese scone for me to try, which I was happy to do.

I love this little coffee shop and visit it quiet regular. I have always had good food and amazing service. Debbie is the usual girl who work here she is very efficent and she always smiles and takes time to have a chat. Which I find a really nice touch. There's another girl called Ruth she to is a lovely girl too. The chef who is actually called James (and not Edward as I thought) cooks a fabulous egg custard. And I would recommend it to anyone. I wish this place the best.

It was the Eggs Benedict advertised in the window which got my attention.

3 large slices of brioche eggy bread, 2 thick rashers of bacon and maple syrup: delicious and only £4.50. Limited menu but the specials are worth a shot and the cakes are lovely. Friendly staff. This little place and the young man behind it deserve to do well. N.B. cash only.

Two of us called in for a light snack on Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised. This was our first visit and I am pleased to report that the staff were charming and most helpful. We had toasted sandwiches with salad and I had a piece of delicious custard tart. What struck us both was both the attention to detail with every aspect. of the food and also the pleasant atmosphere.

My wife and I popped in on by chance and what a wonderful surprise the food was excellent with much of it home made or locally sourced. The staff were friendly, polite and provided a professional and speedy service.

Me and my boyfriend love this place, it's small and very welcoming. The food is delicious! And it's our regular spot for dinner/breakfast. I'd recommend it to everyone

found this little coffee shop accidentally as there is no signs up outside. the decor inside is very inviting and has a lovely feel. we were welcomed immediatly by a lovely girl called Debbie, who was very helpful and made us feel at home. nothing was a problem for her even though they were extremely busy which was a good thing as we found the other waitress rather grummpy and unhelpful. however the coffee was lovely as was the cake and scones that we had. would recommend this place

Delighted to see a new coffee shop open in Consett and visited for lunch with great expectations. Staff were welcoming, if not a little nervous and the atmosphere pleasant with a clean dining area.

Discovered completely by accident in the location where the old Atholls cafe was, this small yet well appointed and charming place has appeared with little fanfare but with a whole lot of great atmosphere and food in spades!
