We've walked past this pub a number of times and not been drawn in by the exterior. Inside though is a hidden gem. An old fashioned pub with a great selection of hand-pulled beers. Upstairs is a lively (on a Friday night) roof terrace. Great fun!

An amazing range of craft beers available and plenty of space to sprall out. Lively eclectic atmosphere and ideally situated with many restaurants in the area.

Went there twice during our stay in Newcastle. The boys brew themselves. Very good IPA beer.

Great little gem in the centre of Newcastle. We didn’t pre booked (which I highly recommend), but staff was very accommodating to find us a table. Food was excellent, great selection of local Gin and Ales. No blaring music is great bonus.

We only had one drink and left don't think I will be rushing back not my type of place sorry.

Not a bad selection of real ales (hence the 1 star) but food was diabolical. Menu attached. I had the battered fish finger stottie - fish fingers were thin to say the least, wife had the steak ciabatta - steak was just warm. And don't get me started on the triple cooked chips (why do chips have to be cooked 3 times?). I would call these cremated chips - see picture. Subsequent to this review management refunded the cost of our meal. Good on you for that and thanks. But my comments on the sub standard food don't change.

Another City Centre CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2025 entry. Up to 10 real ales on handpump. Sat under the Tyne bridge at the Quayside. A large one room bar with a great atmosphere. Side outdoor beer patio. ( Upstair bar and outdoor terrace as well..almost missed this!, thank God for Paulicarus.) Paulicarus ordered me a pint of Otherworld brewey ( Edinburgh) session Pale Ale.) Very good. A good food menu shared a fish finger £12 stottie. ( triple cooked chips about two times overcooked for me!) And a pint of house blond beer! ( Wylam brewery)

Whenever I visit Newcastle I always pop in here. Nice place with a lot of character. Decent draughts.

My husband and I arrived without a reservation and were told there was no room.There were several empty spots but we were told they were reserved and to go upstairs. The grumpy bartender upstairs told us all seating was reserved and put us in the back corner of the place to eat. While we ate there were no less than 3 empty tables. We then asked if we could be seated at a table since they were absolutely empty. We were told they were reserved. A group of four came in, without a reservation and they were seated immediately at one of the empty tables. We finished eating and there were still 2 empty tables. We then moved to one of the 2 remaining tables to finish our beers.Without asking. We left when done and left 2 empty tables. We went downstairs and it was 50% empty. We were seated in the utmost uncomfortable place to eat, on purpose, for no other reason whatsoever than to be rude to us and make us unwelcome. Also, no manners at all whatsoever. I said "thank you" "greatly appreciate it" etc to the bar tender and he just gave me a dirty look. Same with the hostess downstairs. Other patrons were asked if they needed anything and how everything was but not us. The food was delicious,the only salvation. One of the best fish and chips I've had so far in the UK. Unfortunately, atrocious service and hostility towards us on purpose.

The Bridge Tavern. A pub under the bridge. At night, it seems like they mainly sell snacks rather than food. Newcastle is also a brown ale. The interior is wider than expected and it is nice that there is some space between each seat. I also like the interior of the bookshelf. Intention to revisit) Average 2025.02.05 - Visit

Lovely Sunday lunch. Staff friendly and attentive. I had the vegetarian Sunday lunch, it was very nice. My partner had the beef and said it was delicious.

Went here for a light lunch but was pleasantly surprised with the totties being so large I couldn't finish it.. hardly a complaint. Was super tasty food tho, we had the parmo totties (though the bechemal was a bit much on it). Great ales on tap and all at good reasonable prices. A must visit.

One great pubs. Perfect location right in the heart of the lower Dean Street Bars & Restaurants! Really good that they have an upstairs bar & beer garden! The atmosphere is great and the peeps are happy as larry. Never had a bad night there 😎👌

We held a surprise party upstairs at the Bridge Tavern on Saturday and it was just the perfect place to do it! The staff were incredibly accommodating and nothing was any trouble at all. Zahra was fantastic at looking after us all on our bar. There was a great atmosphere too and we were able to include children in the festivities until 7pm which was great. Loved it, thank you!

Beautiful place, furnished in a refined and studied way, which goes a little outside the classic standards of pubs in the area, a nice surprise. Excellent food and atmosphere, highly recommended

My favorite pub spot in the city. The atmosphere is great especially on a good weather where you can enjoy the bridge view from the terrace.

Sunday roast was the best! Massive portion and all of it delicious. The cauliflower cheese was the real deal oozing with melted cheese on top! One of the best roasts we’ve had. Staff were all superb

There's a girl behind the bar who is unbelievably rude. Hospitality is about manners. This girl has none. Not all the staff are like that but this one let's the establishment down

A menudo tengo comida y bebidas aquí y nunca tuve ningún problema el personal es muy agradable y no puede hacer lo suficiente. Desafortunadamente mi pareja y yo fuimos el 8 de diciembre y hubo una fiesta privada arriba esperamos más de una hora para nuestro almuerzo considerando que solo teníamos la mesa durante 90 minutos nos apresuramos a salir poco después de terminar de comer. La comida no era tan buena como normalmente sería que definitivamente nos ha pospuesto ir por comida en el futuro

Went pre game. One of the areas has a huge table suitable for nothing except planning the Normandy landings on. Ridiculously inaccessible to get around. Beer was nice, stayed for a second pint.

Aquellos marcados como libres de gluten fueron fritos en frituras contaminadas compartidas. Sólo podía comer ensalada de queso de cabra. Dijeron que podían hacer las papas fritas sin gluten. Estos bastones y estaba caliente y llano halloumi. Tan decepcionante y peligrosamente inseguro para los alérgicos.

Always a good vibe and a cracking choice of beers - loads of IPAs and Stouts. Food is higher end of "pub grub" as well.

Reservamos una mesa para las 2 de la tarde, nos mostraron a nuestras mesas y aquí es donde fue cuesta abajo, fui al bar por bebidas, el servidor me preguntó si queríamos bebidas mientras estaba en el bar, pero dijo que regresaría para pedir comida, luego se sentó a esperar durante más de media hora desapercibido para todo el personal, claramente vimos al servidor mirar hacia arriba e incluso dijo una palabrota como debe de recordar, le dijimos que nos íbamos como esperando demasiado tiempo y lo que nos pospuso más fue un grupo de 7 personas envió todos los almuerzos dominicales de vuelta, ya que todos estaban fríos rápidamente y luego un grupo de 3 en otra mesa envió 3 cenas de vuelta como frías también . . . qué pena, ya que estábamos deseando . . nuestras bebidas fueron reembolsadas por la administración, que era justo, pero sus EXCUSAS fueron que estaban muy ocupados, pero sin embargo, 4 servidores rondaron el bar hablando la mayor parte del tiempo, así que no sé lo que el gerente vio . lamentablemente no volverá

Lively and lovely place! Didn’t have their own beers but there was a very big and good selection anyway! We enjoyed the food and the drinks and the atmosphere! Nice personnel too!

Había leído muchas de las grandes críticas sobre este pub, pero estaba tan decepcionado. Llegamos poco después de las 12 del mediodía de un sábado y solo había un par de otras mesas ocupadas. El personal no era muy acogedor, la comida que pedimos era tibia en el mejor de los casos. Tardó mucho en llegar después de ordenar así que sospecho que había estado sentado a un lado esperando a que el personal lo sacara, el pub no estaba ocupado. Nadie vino a comprobar si la comida estaba bien. Cuando estábamos a punto de salir el personal comenzó a despejar la mesa haciendo que nos metiéramos en su camino y ellos se metieron en el nuestro. No estaba ocupado, así que no estoy seguro de por qué no esperaron hasta que nos fuimos. En general no es una gran experiencia. Creo que hay pubs mucho mejores y más acogedores en Newcastle.

Easily the best roast dinner I’ve had out in a pub for a long, long time. Puts any pub in my part of London to shame. Quite close to as good as any of the best home cooked roast you can get. Generous portions and every element is perfectly cooked. Highly recommended. Really glad to have been recommended to visit here during our weekend trip. You might have to wait a little longer than expected during peak times, but that’s not a deal breaker if you’ve got time. Cosy, vibrant place where it’s easy to while away an afternoon and evening.

The positives were the wonderfully attentive staff and how cosy the atmosphere is. We brought our dog and he was so well looked after. The roast was quite disappointing however - it was cold when it arrived. They'd also run out of veggie roast main and so offered cauli cheese as an alternative - would be nice to see some nut roast or similar on the menu. My veggie main also arrived with no gravy and it took about 15 mins to bring some (they brought meat gravy at first) so I'd finished my dinner when it arrived. On the whole the roast dinners just needed some extra love and TLC to make this place great.

Really disappointed as we travel down to Newcastle from Glasgow often and wanted a Sunday roast. This place has great reviews so we booked a table and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately though we waited 45 minutes for 2 roast dinners and when they arrived they were freezing cold. I'm not that fussy but everything was cold so we opted to leave and go elsewhere. It wasn't massively busy either so not sure what was going on. Such a shame.

Great range of cask beers. Small menu but excellent food served. Staff friendly and polite. Dog friendly. Great terrace upstairs with heaters, directly under the Tyne bridge. For me the best pub in the centre of toon.

First visit. It was excellent. Food looked really nice with good pricing. Visited again 17th October before seeing pretenders concert. Had the parmo in a stottie ( shared with the wife as I couldn't eat all of it myself) Really good, big portion and really cooked well. Teesside meets Geordie - parmo in a stottie 🤣

What a great pub. Very quaint setting under the bridge with a quirky layout but has a massive treat in store for you. There is a roof terrace with an adjoining bar Staff were so friendly and plentiful so getting served with a breeze. Good selection of beers and a very friendly atmosphere. Roof terrace won the day for me

Visitado para almorzar un lunes basado en la entrada de la Guía de la Buena Cerveza del pub. Cerveza y comida, ambos muy buenos - aunque las patatas fritas podrían haber estado más calientes. Lamentablemente no había cervezas disponibles de la casa - micro - cervecería - que era una de las atracciones para mí - y parece que no ha habido elaboración en las instalaciones durante algún tiempo.

Visited our family in Newcastle and they had booked us in The Bridge tavern for Sunday lunch..lovely atmosphere, had the trio of meats Sunday lunch which tasted lovely but cold, they apologised took all our food back and said they would sort it, our same meals came back swimming in gravy I think that was there warming up, hot gravy, to be fair tasty but still cold, wasn't worth £20 a meal. Sorry wouldn't recommend, served hot the meal would have been perfect.

After 5 years we visited the Bridge Tavern again. Still a very lovely pub with a great industrial yet cozy atmosphere. Beers were great, good selection. Food was delicious. I had the fish 'n chips and was very happy:) Staff was also nice!

Really nice modern pub. Some beautiful local beers on tap and really friendly staff. Feels like New-York/Chicago the way it's snuggled away under the bridge, but with much better beer.

Went for the roast due to recommendations. Serving is quite small but satisfied us (although probably not everyone). Service was really good and the venue itself is very nice and easy to find.

Although the food was quite tasty, we had to wait 1h30 for it to arrive, which is quite stressful when you're hungry after work! Went to celebrate my birthday with friends, the place is beautiful and the beer selection is excellent. If it wasn't for the terrible service would give 5 stars.

Sunday lunch was very tasty and the beef my friend had looked great. Would have enjoyed if there was a fish option as I don’t eat meat and could only have the cauliflower steak. The vegetables were all very well cooked so I would recommend

My birthday treat Sunday lunch at The Bridge Tavern on Newcastle Quayside 🥳 We all opted for mixed meats for £20. I've never tasted supreme of chicken as meltingly soft as this, we all wondered how they do it?! The sirloin of beef served pink was delicious and the tender loin of pork served in a thick slab with crackling was excellent. The roast potatoes with a hint of garlic and rosemary are to die for. The Yorkshire puddings are huge, and the veg is all cooked to perfection, the red cabbage puree is a yummy twist. Home made sausagemeat stuffing is never a bad thing either! Sides of cauliflower cheese are a must, and would serve 2. They were so good and not overcooked, perfect. The gravy was so delicious we unashamedly got through 4 jugs of it 😆 Washed down with amazing real ale planks, so no room for pudding! The service from all of the staff was above and beyond fantastic. Attentive and so friendly, nothing was too much for them. Highly recommended for top Sunday scran ✔️

Busy, buzzy microbrewery, super dog friendly

We had reserved a table so we were seated quickly. We ordered Sunday lunch and food was quick to arrive. We had 3 chicken dinners and one beef. All were cold and had a very watery gravy. I sent mine back to be reheated but when it arrived was still not warm. Only ate as everyone else has started there's. I was told the beef was tough even tho it was pink. Wouldn't recommend for the price paid.

Super busy but amazing outside area

Staff are polite and professional good choice of drinks and plenty of places to sit. I visited on a Sunday so was a bit quieter but nice and relaxed. I'd definitely recommend this place.

I used to rate this place as a fabulous pub with bags of atmosphere and a cracking range of beers. Unfortunately, on my visit on a summer Tuesday evening, the barman, who made eye contact with me as I arrived and again between serving people, served two people who arrived at the bar after me. That, in my view, is simply dreadful customer service. I left and may not return.

Four of us decided we’d have a drink. The beer was darn good. You order your beer at the bar, pay up then it’s served. The barman was, well not terribly welcoming, and as there were few customers there I’d thought he should have been a bit more pleased to see us. There’s no one to ask you if you want another drink, you sort out yourself so it’s back to the sullen barman. I had a stout which was exceptional and one of our companions opted for ginger wine - I had a sip and it was tasty. The bar area was huge, almost open plan, and the downstairs toilets were pleasant, quaint and ornate.

Two visits here during recent stay in the city. We enjoyed the atmosphere and interesting interior including brewery, although it wasn't clear wether this was a working set up or just for display. Food was good especially the steak and langoustine dishes, fish and chips was a let down though with floury batter and soggy chips under the fillet. Plenty of beers to choose from, but would've liked some interaction and advice from bar staff to help selection, especially as it was a quiet time when we visited and we were clearly newbies in town.

Very disappointed as it was highly recommended. The food we ordered came with items missing chicken Stottie no onion rings plus no chilli jam. The double crushed Pattie no onion rings only one thin burger. We complained and the onion rings and chilli sauce ? Came out when we had nearly finished. Then the waitress started taking items from the table when we hadn’t finnished 🤔

Super cute brewpub tucked under one of Newcastle’s bridges. Great selection of beers. Menu was interesting and diverse. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Portions were quite large. Good service and helpful staff.

Food was ok but took 1 hour to come. Poor communication and 2 things on a small menu were not available to be ordered which caused a further delay. Seems fine for drinks though.

I actually don’t think the Fish’n’Chips was that tasty. Not sure why so many have reviewed w 5 stars. It’s max plain 4, w food quality falling short of that. Visit July 2024.

This place has a really nice ambience, and plenty of seating, inside and out. A great range of real ales, lagers, spirits, etc.

I have enjoyed dozens of meals and nights out here over the years. So a bit of a 'go to' when in need of some nice food in a casual setting. I called ahead to book a table for 3 persons and was told no bookings on a weekend. we managed to turn up and grab a table at approx 2pm. Menus weren't available on the table so we asked at the bar and they handed them over. At the same time i ordered a nice bottle of wine to go with the meal. A few minutes later i returned to the bar to place the order and as the server was taking payment the female 'manager' intervened to say we're not doing food. Clearly the team behind the bar weren't aware of this as they were processing my order. On hearing this i explained i had just ordered a bottle of wine to go with food and requested if i could have a refund as we'd now need to leave the bar and find somewhere else to dine. The server approached the manager and explained my predicament. She point blank refused because i had poured a glass. Despite me explaining the wine was to go with food and that they said we could order food and now couldn't, she still refused to refund. Very poor service and on principle i won't be eating or drinking here again.

Great Sunday lunch, had the pheasant, it was lovely, cooked just right. Excellent selection of drinks. Service was very, friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere, and really appreciated how dog friendly they are as a venue. Highly recommend.

Nice pub, good beer, great atmosphere. One server in particular, Ella, was lovely. Friendly, helpful and patient with my nonsense when I couldn't decide on what to get.

Absolute the perfect pub, no question!

We arrived on a busy Sunday (19/05/24) and, even though they were fully booked, the friendly team said they could fit us in if we thought we could be done in an hour. Knowing how good the food is here, we said we could. 😊 They also accommodated my fussyness without hesitation (lots of places don't) and the food was divine. Best Sunday Roast (and service) in the North East. Couldn't fault a thing.

Sunday lunch for four absolutely everyone delighted at what we each had! Two for Pheasant and two for Trio of Meats ... Go for the extra cauli-cheese it's magnificent!!! BTW soo dog friendly.. Kye The Weim is coming next time ... There's even something on the Sunday roast menu for them!! Thank you very much to the barstaff but especially so the chef and her kitchen staff... It was fabulous!..

Terrible atmosphere. The manager asked us to be quite and not to enjoy our night. We were just having fun and she asked us to be quiet. We really do not recomend it

We were not allow to dance. They said it was too annoying and not allowed for the place in a Saturday night. Non of us were drunk, just celebrating. We obviously stop the dancing as we didn't want to create any unconformable situation.

We really enjoyed going here for dinner, but I've dropped it to 4* as its level has dropped a little compared to previous visits. + Great selection of cask and keg ales, mostly veering to some great local breweries Really beautiful building and atmosphere. One big main bar and lots of little inside and outside spaces Food was nice - I ordered a meal that came with fries and garlic mayo, and got triple cooked potato wedges and chilli jam instead A pricey cup of tea that was amusingly rubbish. Took ages, and eventually got an unmatching cup and saucer, no milk and already brewed (badly). Cask ale is quite expensive compared to lots of other pubs, where it's a lot cheaper than keg. The food menu is a lot less gastro than it used to be. A bit of a basic chicken, burger, fries menu these days. All in all, not bad, but not what it was a few years ago.

Great atmosphere, excellent selection. Amazing food and very good staff. Had a laugh with them for my friend's birthday and the staff joined in with us. Definitely go again 5*

Always call in here when in Newcastle. It's a great pub for a few late night drinks, when most of the noise heads further up into town. Great selection of drinks and friendly and efficient staff. It's good to find a city pub that attracts a real mix of people and doesn't just cater to the weekend warriors. I've drunk in my fair share of pubs in the city and this ranks as my favourite by some margin. Never eaten there (didn't even know they do food), so can only score a 3 star for that.
