Great pub! Whenever we visit Newcastle, this has become our favourite pub - sorry Red House! Wide selection of real ales and some quality wines available too. Plenty of comfortable seating and no loud music - you can chat without having to shout and lip read! Knowledgeable staff were happy to recommend and advise . Also wanted to comment on how clean it was - the toilets in some establishments should have a health warning but this place sets an example for others to follow.

One of the best pubs in Newcastle, choice of drinks is excellent. The staff are always great, friendly and knowledgeable. I have also eaten there on multiple occasions and highly recommended.

We come to this popular pub fairly often, when we visit Newcastle. Always a great selection of local ales (Wylam's Tabernacle is highly recommended), friendly staff and customers create a nice atmosphere for all ages.

Sunday lunch desperate, meat tough and really chewy. Vegetables over cooked and mushy. Service good but avoid the food

Bar service was good but we were left disappointed with our food service. We waited over 40 minutes for our food and when it arrived both meals were cold. They did replace these but one meal was barely acceptably hot enough and the other was so nuked the sauce was solid. A real let down 👎

Popped in for a bite to eat and the food was amazing. Loved the layout and there was plenty of atmosphere. All the staff were talked to were really friendly and when we talked to the chef he made our mouths water telling us about the upcoming menu. So glad we fell into here!

Sunday roast was a little disappointing. I love this pub and the whole vibe, but I’ve not eaten here before. Unfortunately the food was cold when it arrived and although we opted for the sirloin to be pink, it seemed more uncooked and I ended up giving mine to my dog. I’d like to think this was just a one-off as the staff are all great and the service was excellent too. Perhaps just a bad day in the kitchen!

A classic old english bar, with local beer optiosn on tap and many other drinks. Love the atmosphere and great service.

I quite like this pub. I've been in a few times and it's always had a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly too. The prices are good, not that cheap that it attracts idiots but reasonable for a nice bar.

Poor service. Paid 7.40 for a pint of Jakehead. I asked for a taste of another beer but after my money was taken the barmaid served someone else. Quite an awkward moment. Very unhappy with the service

The place was bouncing, standing room only. We had booked a table for food, the table was ready for us. The food was decent. Great service and friendly staff.

Amazing place to go with friends

Had lunch with my son yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve been but the reviews I’ve read and my son’s recommendation made the decision for me. I was not disappointed. Walking in, we were greeted warmly by staff and this continued throughout the whole service. The menu; we were spoiled for choice. We opted for a sharing board….. OMG, it was incredible…..the variety of food on offer to the quality of the ingredients to the chef’s expertise made this a wonderful experience from start to finish.

I really enjoyed coming here. I was a bit dubious given the overall energy but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was really delicious and despite some of the pricing being a little high it was really good. We had a nice table with lots of space and the service was also really good. Thanks for being so attentive. The toilets are not really accessible as are up the stairs but they were clean and nice.

Smell of toilets upon entering and smell of bins on the outdoor terrace....rank 🤮 Edit 2nd December 2023: Still smelt of poo when we walked in. Not people's pumps either... toilets. Nice place and good service, so please sort the pong.

Great beer choice and good contemporary design

Incredible Sunday roast. I had the harissa lamb. And great selection of real ales. Can't recommend this place enough.

Nice Restaurant in the middle of Newcastle. We spent some time for lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere. Great food and drinks, greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👍

Very cosy brown pub with a good atmosphere, kind and helpful staff. Quite a big portion of Fish & Chips with delicious cod, potatos, Tartar souce and a crispy green kale. Really good!!

Top joint. The food is cracking and the beer selection also. Not a big place so don't hold out for somewhere to sit. The upstairs floor includes a nice outdoor area right underneath the Tyne Bridge, but of course it can be ruined by the smokers. Definitely worth a look. Real Ale heads take note.

Just a pub. Plenty of alternatives. Staff on the day couldn't give a monkeys when they served us. Other than that it was okay, but just ok.

This has to be one of the best pubs I’ve been in, never seen a selection of beers like it and the food was excellent. What makes it apart from that is the decor and the atmosphere. A really nice experience. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and the service excellent. Would recommend the langoustines, they were amazing.

Food and service was great. myself and my family really enjoyed the food and drinks. The service by Niamh was great, we briefly met the chef who made sure we were looked after really well. Me and my partner got the sea platter, we struggled to eat it all! Great portion sizes.

Yum!!! The salted duck is amazing. Super meaty and flavorful, cooked perfectly, fat really nice, and cabbage absolutely delicious!!!! The mashed potatoes could be improved by the addition of garlic but so would all mashed potatoes and that is more a general opinion that I hold to be universal truth than a criticism. Bread and butter pudding definitely left something to be desired - while tasty, I'm not at all convinced that it wasn't just baked bread with custard and raisins on top. Pour some egg, milk, and cinnamon over the bread before you bake it please😂

It was a bit cold and they made significant mistakes on the bill. Food and service was okay.

We had a great meal at the Bridge Tavern, but I must admit, Google Maps couldn't find it under the bridge. We walked right by at one point, because the sign above the door was small, and google maps was directing us to go up above the bridge. But once we finally got to Bridge Tavern, the service and staff were excellent, the food was delicious, and we loved sitting next to the window under the bridge! Great location, food, and service!

Niamh made me an amazing whiskey sour and was such a good host!! Nothing was too much trouble and she was always happy help. The bar is great and has an amazing array of drink options to keep the punters happy!! Couldn't recommend this place enough

Took friends here last night and the security staff ensured it was a terrible evening. No reason to return.

Delicious food but very small portions. I got the duck breast and there were only 2 small pieces on the plate. Shame as it was really tasty!

Popped in for a quick drink after a meal on the quayside. We took our drinks to the room upstairs. We didnt realise it was reserved for a private party. No notice at the bottom of the stairs and a small notice on the wall upstairs which was hard to spot. A young lad came over and asked in quite a passive aggressive tone if we were part of the private party? We said no and turned to leave and the lad muttered that " it wasnt a hotel up here" i was quite shocked by his atittude so replied that we hadnt realised that it was a private party when we first went in but would have left when we noticed. He then answered with " sorry darlin". Complained to the manager but dont know if the member of staff was spoken to. Rude young man

Always a great selection of beer. One slice of beef is just not enough and the roast potatoes could have been crispier. Mash has no place on a roast! Give me more veg and meat. Yorkshire is 1st class! Not bad but not great, the Chare is better!

A lovely warm welcome. We just had a few nibbles 'to put a lining on!' But they were excellent value and very tasty. Salt and chilli fries, salt and chilli chicken, brie bites, halloumi with chorizo. £7 per dish approx.

A typical bar for a quick afternoon beer, I love it ;-)

First off, good selection of ale, attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. The food however left a lot to be desired. The “Smash” burger was Essentially two slightly squashed small balls of meat that where unseasoned, dry and hidden within the soggy lettuce and mild burger sauce. The chips where overcooked and again lacking any flavour. For £16 pounds each, this was absolutely under the level of quality expected from a highly regarded city centre pub. Will not return for food.

Had fish and chips for dinner. Enormous portions and a good selection of beers. Could have been given a bigger table for our large party.

It's a lovely spot for drinks but quite disappointed in the food and the service. Several people were missing multiple items from their Sunday lunches, vegetables and roast potatoes. It is sold as having crackling however none was given. When we asked, we were told the very rubbery fatty rind on the end of the pork was the crackling. We were also overcharged for 2 drinks we didn't have. I'd visit again but only for drinks, not food.

Gorgeous pub. Sadly no food after 6pm on Friday.

Fantastic service specifically from a server called Holly she was so friendly, chatty and even recommended food from the menu. Food was lovely and great value for money, would strongly recommend to anyone! Fantastic pub!

Visited whilst in a shoot for Jimmy’s Jobs and asked the locals for recommendation. This place came up again and again and you can see why - amazing food - wonderful location under the Tyne Bridge Can’t wait to be back soon.

The Bridge Tavern certainly knows how to pull a pint of fine, strong ale! Good location between central town, the quayside and the Ouseburn. If you are heading to the Ouseburn for a fre and you're already in town/walking make sure to stop here on the way. P.s. if you are in town drinking you should really be making your way to the Ouseburn to finish off. You won't regret it!

Group of us had Sunday lunch on 20th. Unfortunately, 6 of us were squeezed on 2 small tables, one side up against the wall and the other side in the exit entrance line for the outdoor area. The food was delicious but we were only given 1 bowl of veg for all 6 of us and had to ask 3 times to get more veg, which eventually arrived as we were finishing our meals. We were not offered more gravy, though could have done with it. The Yorkshire puddings were amazing! Let down by the lack of veg and gravy.

Had a lovely meal with a special shout out to Hollie who was a wonderfully attentive host. Each course came out quickly and she was extremely welcoming and friendly, amazing service. The food was absolutely fantastic and couldn't find a single fault! Highly recommend the halloumi & sweet chilli chorizo pot, the steak & chips and the passionfruit cheesecake 10/10

Used to be fantastic. Food and beer both. Now looking at £6+ a pint and the food is right dear! downhill in a nutshell very disappointing

Have been here many times for drinks and always found the staff lovely and it to be a nice busy welcoming bar. Came here this week for a quick lunch and got the land platter and salt and chilli chicken. Eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs as it was absolutely huge! Massive portion, very good quality and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back

Best bar for food, and I would recommend it to anyone as this is a hidden gem. Well done as it is consistently great for food.

Would like to start by saying we were super grateful as a walk in to be given a table because I know they were fully booked. Food was so average. The salt and chilli chicken starter was unreal but there was a little hair in it we didn’t want to mention. The Sunday dinner main course was just so average. The stuffing was cold. Everything else was warm. It just wasn’t great sadly. Service wise everyone was super friendly and I can’t fault them for that but I did have to ask for gravy 3 times. I guess it’s because they were so busy and like I say they were very friendly and welcoming. Overall disappointing as we’d been recommended by quite a few people and probably wouldn’t return.
