Deli espresso in Newcastle upon Tyne

We came in as a family (some time ago & been meaning to write this for ages!) My nephew ordered an adult burger, the staff joked he would never finish it & he did much to their surprise. He was rewarded by the staff for this achievement & was thrilled with this. Friendly staff, great atmosphere & lovely food. Highly recommend. V

Really enjoy going to deli espresso and have visited many times, great variety to the menu and very tasty. Great coffee too Was really disappointed to see the recent food hygiene rating of 2/5 published in the newspaper. Have to say it’s a little off putting which is such a shame as this place is a real gem food wise.

A nice place with good food and coffee (especially compared to other places in the North East). A bit tiny and a bit too noisy for me. But still worth recommending.

Popped in on Monday with my friend who is a local…we only had time for a coffee …ok I did sneak in a pistachio cannoli ….I drink vats of coffee and this was one of the better ones from a shoo I’ve had in a long while ….will be coming back to investigate the food and the vast array of different coffee beans they offer … top marks

Wir waren hier zum Frühstücken. Die Bao Buns mit pochiertem Ei, Speck und Spinat waren super lecker. Das Porridge war schön heiß wie es sein soll und mit Früchten und Saaten getoppt. Nur die Biscoffs Latte hatte nur wenig nach Lotuscreme geschmeckt. Beim Smoothie ist die Süße perfekt und wirklich mit Obst und nicht mit Saft gemacht.

Fantastic breakfast at the Deli today. Delicious magic mushrooms- so tasty. And the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Americano great as always. Fantastic service from Alfie. Full marks Deli Espresso.

Delish food, gorgeous coffee, service is amazing! Nice garden in the rear with lots of space, sun shines in (on the right day) early to mid morning, most months. Plus, a fantastic place to have an office party, great for up to 25!

Excellent quality food and friendly staff. Great range for vegetarians and it is not bad for vegans either. Food is healthy (with a few tasty unhealthy options if you want!), fresh and nicely presented if you are eating in or taking away. Coffee quality is much improved from 6 months ago.

Oh Deli Espresso one of my loves of Newcastle and more specifically Gosforth. Always a yummy meal. Get me in and out quick. The crew there is on it and sharp. Some of my faves are the salmon health plate, fresh greens, wild caught salmon and oh so tasty! The protein balls have quickly become one of 2nd favorites because it is a great alternative to unhealthy snacking. They are amazing. They don’t always have them because they get snapped up by their raving hungry customers. I try to share them with everyone and tell everyone about them. My 3rd favorite are the protein shakes. Vanilla Thrilla is supper yummy. Again protein keeps you from grabbing unhealthy choices. Deli Espresso allows me to eat better and function better. So grateful to have them in Gosforth. If you are debating on trying them, go for it! Much love to Deli Espresso and the entire team there. 💯 you will love it.

Always healthy delicious food with delightful staff, happy to accommodate vegans (though not many options) and veggies. I recommend visiting when it is less busy, or indeed in the summer, as the cafe indoor space is limited and when all the tables are occupied it can be hard to move around. It’s not an issue, we just go when it’s quieter, or we sit outside in the secret garden! I think there may be a need to update the kitchen H&S standards, as my partner found a dirty feather in his food once. It put him off his food and he had to leave most of it. However, my rating is based on dozens of visits - not just the aforementioned. On all accounts the food is good, there is a range of drinks, and charming decor. The staff go above and beyond.

Had an extremely tasty turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Deli today. Excellent service, a cheeky glass of Prosecco followed by coffee and chocolate treat. Reasonable price too. It’s definitely worth a visit.

I’ve previously given this place 5 stars, but unfortunately today was terrible. There’s never an excuse to have to wait 7 minutes in a coffee shop with nobody willing to even acknowledge you’re waiting to put in an order. Three people working in Deli Expresso. There were only eight customers. So whatever has gone wrong, sort it out please.

Brilliant little cafe offering beautiful mains, snacks, desserts and drinks. The staff here are so so pleasant and helpful. They have a few tables indoors in a cosy room and a few benches in an outside section which is pretty. I had the biscoff pastry which was delicious. Will come back for their wraps and salads

Nice little quaint café just a little off the High Street. Went in to have post night shift breakfast with work buddies, and was well-pleased with our orders! The place had a nice cosy ambiance, but it could only seat a few customers at a time. Theme was quite rustic, and you could easily tell that all the food they produced were freshly made and of excellent quality. The staff were quite friendly and super patient with us while we were trying to figure out our orders. Food was served hot and quick, without sacrificing presentation or taste! Was a shame we were all too sleepy and full, otherwise we could have sampled their excellent looking cakes! Will definitely come back again, and am now keeping this gem on my radar to be one of my regular go-tos for after finishing night shift!

The food here is average, presented as healthy. It's overpriced so gets a poor. Don't trust the online menu. Despite having similar ingredients, my choice was not available on the menu card in the cafe 😕 Seems popular with gym-going, boxing type folk.

Absolutely beautiful mushroom soup we had today & freshly made pasta...these guys are very interested in food & people. Very convenient location too..highly recommended !!!!

Me and my boyfriend popped in for breakfast after being recommended by a family member and so glad we did. Cosy, friendly atmosphere and amazing food. Best porridge I’ve ever in my life!!

Overcharged for what was already a massively overpriced box of slop. Ordered food as a takeaway only to get home and find half the things that were supposed to be in there were missing and had paid 2 quid extra to get one measly piece of halloumi. Such a shame, as this place used to be canny, but has really gone down hill.

Sadly this place could have the perfect recipe for success, BUT.... The owner struts around like a peacock pandering to his loud-mouthed acquaintances, who seem to frequent the place. They swear indiscriminately and loudly, and the whole culture and environment is one of a Bigg Market pub, which is definitely not somewhere I’d take my children for a bite to eat. The owner’s arrogance is very off putting - he openly takes orders in the rear garden from his friends, yet quite happily tells everyone else “there’s no table service, you need to walk round to the front to order”. We’ve visited here a few times recently and each time experienced the same - friends of the owner given priority when it comes to ordering, receiving drinks and food, etc., and the language and general behaviour of this sort of clientele really isn’t our thing when we have children with us. The food ingredient-wise is great, but the wait is very long (particularly when you’re put to the back of the queue in favour of others) and when it arrives, is luke warm. Such a shame, as the other staff are pleasant enough, and it’s in an ideal location for passing trade, etc. The owner just needs to wind his neck in and stop trying to impress his mates - altogether embarrassing.

Enjoyable first drink outdoors, post December-April lockdown. Friendly and efficient staff. Got served straight away. Happy customers :-)

The cakes here are my favourite in Newcastle if not the world (and I’ve lived in different countries) ... I love the concept of yummy but healthy food and even better that the staff are beyond lovely and I look forward to coming back every weekend for a treat!

Food was nice when it finally arrived after nearly an hour waiting. Service was very slow, staff seemed disinterested in serving you. Had to ask several times for the rest of our order. Won’t be back as felt we were an inconvenience to them.

Came in for sweet caffeine and left with a smile and prospect of booze. Always a winner. No queue, very safe and friendly. Thanks to the tall guy for making it happen!

Came here and ordered an iced Frappuccino. Really great creamy texture - lots better than the ice filled Starbucks and Costa ones. Staff friendly and food looked nice. Will be back.

Called in today and ordered 2 lean burgers with halloumi,salad and sweet potato fries. Absolutely delicious. Love how the calories count is on the menu. Cooked to order but didn't wait long.

Visited today when I was briefly in the area. Just for takeaway coffee so it was a brief visit! However, the young lady who served me was delightful. Friendly; chatty and welcoming. Made my day a good deal better. Coffee (flat white) was excellent too. I didn’t have time to pause for lunch but the food on display looked delicious.Definitely worth a visit. Una visita con mi hijo, una pequeña cafetería íntima con muy buen café recién hecho.Me hicieron un fabuloso plato vegano de aguacate, champiñones, ensalada y chile con tostadas marrones. Fue grandioso.Mi hijo tenía un sándwich de tocino, que era un poco pobre para 3. 20 (2 lonjas de tocino en un rollo muy grande?).Sin embargo, volveremos.

Everything is really good; the portions are massive and they are very wise. Dad’s burger was brilliant “It’s not McDonald’s!” Drinks were great and they were friendly as always. Try the rocky road!

Necesitaba algo de comer después de un ajetreado día en el trabajo y encontré este lugar. Fue realmente excelente, cuando pedí una envoltura simplemente esperaba una envoltura tipo tienda estándar, pero lo que obtuve fue enorme, lleno de ingredientes de buena calidad e increíblemente sabrosos. Volveré la próxima vez que esté trabajando de esa manera.

Qué gran descubrimiento. Desde alimentos limpios y saludables bien considerados hasta tartas y golosinas caseras, la elección y la calidad son impresionantes. El café es de buena calidad (y de origen local) y los dos tipos que servían / administraban el café no podrían haber sido más amables ni más útiles. Vale la pena una visita.

Llamado con un amigo para tomar un desayuno, mi amigo escogió el plato (palta rallada y huevos escalfados), dijo que se veía bien presentado cuando llegó, y sabía aún mejor, huevos, perfección, tostadas y una combinación perfecta de aguacate y un sorprendente uso de Chili, qué toque, todos los componentes se unieron y realmente disfruté este plato, regado con una taza de té, bien vale la pena por las 8 libras.

Apareció esta norma (después de confirmar en el sitio web que la apertura es a las 10 a. M. Del domingo). . llegó 10. 04 - Las señales estaban afuera pero la puerta estaba cerrada y cerrada. A Guy no le molestó ni siquiera salir y explicar por qué estaba cerrado en el momento en que el sitio web dice que están abiertos. Me fui a casa. No es la primera vez que tengo este tipo de problema aquí. Es muy descuidado que se cierre cuando anuncia que es abierto y muy irrespetuoso con los clientes al no molestarse en aprovechar la oportunidad para disculparse y explicar por qué. Nunca volveré.

Easy access car park next door. Lovely atmosphere clean and added benefit of a toilet can enjoy an extra gorgeous coffee. Good cross section of options love the calorie info. Fab fab fab.

There is a wonderful selection of fresh foods. All prepared as ordered. A great place for healthy eating. Plus the delicious tray bakes. And a good choice of clean treats. Well worth a look.

We've being a few times for coffee and cake.

We’d heard good things about the coffee here so came with our two children (aged 8 & 12 and not difficult to please). The lady working here (Natalie I believe if the swearing and shouting from other staff are to be believed) was more focused on her heavy petting session with the grimace-faced owner than dealing with customers. The place wasn’t busy but there was no urgency to serve us. Food came after 35 minutes and was not only mostly incorrect but the hot food was tepid at best. My son found a long bleached blonde hair in his omelette but when I mentioned this to the owner he claimed I was lying - though where he thinks I’d be able to obtain such a vile thing is beyond me. The place is extremely dirty, the toilet obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time and the staff are foul-mouthed and rude. A very upsetting and disappointing visit. I’ll stick to the Naked Deli in the shopping centre in future, with which I’ve never been unhappy.

Fresh healthy food. Simple flavours and very tasty. Only a few tables so would suggest booking a table so you don't miss out.

Nice little place for a lunch or coffee. Plenty of choice and the food was fine. The service was great, the people were friendly, but why was the music on so LOUD you could hardly hear yourself think let alone have a conversation?....turn it down!!

Popped in with my son after it was recommended at the gym. Coffee good, he really liked the cake. His smoothie was the best he's had. I thoroughly enjoyed the Ezekiel bread. Generous portion sizes. Service spot on. Can't recommend highly enough.

Pequeño café pero el sufrimiento un poco de falta de atención al detalle como la última vez. Mal manchas de agua vasos y un paquete de patatas fritas 3 semanas fuera de fecha. Comida pone énfasis en algunos opciones saludables como chalecos salvavidas la preocupación...

Desayuno, un amigo y yo, he pedido la tortilla de proteínas, con jugo de naranja y café, tortilla fue muy buena, con una buena porción de tamaño, cantidad de llenado, regados con un buen café, buen ambiente, personal amable, volveremos.

Great place for coffee just off the High Street. Small independent with great local coffee and some wonderful healthy options. Today tried one of their new cakes, almond with blueberries and flaked almonds on top, it was to die for amazing.

Healthy food with the few odd treat at reasonable prices (huge portions too). Whether it's good coffee, smoothies, salad, paninis, pasta or breakfast this cafe is really good. Service is superb as well! Really can't fault.

Probably the best tasting coffee in town, but also serve triple chocolate brownies to die for. Seriously - get yourself along here to try. You won't be disappointed!

I come here quite often with my partner, if it's for breakfast or afternoon lunch. The portion size is just perfect and they have a large variety of things to eat!! The taste snacks after a healthy meal is always my favourite - especially the snickers one!! Definitely recommend.

I use the deli a few times a week and the food and service is always first class. There are very few places that service high quality healthY meals that taste delicious but this place hits the spot everytime.

I work around the corner at The Gym and eat here every day... Value for money beats all local competition... The food is excellent quality and fresh which is perfect for me... The service is awesome as they even go the extra mile and tweak meals for me to match my requirements... The place make dieting an absolute breeze and I recommend it to all my personal training clients as part of the nutrition plans... Absolute gold mine for people wanting to eat healthy

I was so excited about a healthy café in Gosforth to frequent,however,it was a complete let down.The staff are nonchalant,seemingly depressed and impatient aspiring to be would-be body builders/Olympic athletes.The sandwiches/buns are huge with barely any filling = offer a smaller option with a decent filling.The café needs a completely good going over as the tables are always sticky and the place is generally dirty.Sorry Deli espresso I have given you many opportunities to change my thoughts but after last visit this is not going to happen.

Me and my partner have been wanting to visit here for months. I went last week and got a take out. The food was 100 times better then expected. It is pricey don't get me wrong but super tasty. Will be going back. Wide range aswell

Live locally but decided to have a breakfast out. Dissapointed with this cafe today. Arrived, not busy at all but the waiter was occupied making drinks. He noticed we had arrived but did not acknowledge us or give us a welcome so we sat down expecting him to acknowledge us when he finished. Waited 5 minutes for someone to take our order. Table top very sticky. After another few minutes a family arrived at the counter and he immediately served them so we got up and left. So service was not as I expected. Unfortunately won't be going back.

This is a great place, its a small cafe that serves great food with health in mind. Lots of great options for breakfast, brunch and lunch using finest healthy options. There are lots of 'clean' cakes and desserts too!The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a great atmosphere too.I would highly recommend a visit if you like tasty, healthy, well cooked food and great coffee too.

Over priced food and miserable staff, especially the manager. A bit of a grubby place... on my way out I noticed a "Merry Christmas" sticker in the window...its March now!!! urghh clean your windows.

This is a great cafe/deli based in Gosforth and serving around the idea of healthy food and superfoods. The menu is extensive with some great dishes. We had the Sweet potato jacket with chicken breast and drizzled with BBQ sauce & the Sirloin salad. They also have a nice selection of locally produced goods on their shelves with things like bags of Coffee from the TyneMouth Coffee Company (which they serve as house coffee) to take away and a fantastic hot sauce from the Bernie Bumm Sauce Company (which we purchased) and were not disappointed. All in all our visit was excellent and we couldn't recommend it more 5 STARS all round.
