The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in East of England

Typical Wetherspoons, like a TARDIS, small on the outside but large on the inside, with lots of space and tables scattered around the building. Only popped in for breakfast as I was visiting the area. Service good and fast.

RGH: Love kids menu really good crispy squid for starter on adult menu. The food is Excellent Yummy Delicious. The pub is Calm Peaceful Cozy. I really recommend going for lunch. We got there early so had a coffee and cake from inside the foyer. My latte was made from a sachet of powder so had lumps in but the very overpriced cake tasted like it was made a week ago. I opted for the hedwig cake at £9.95 and it was awful. Solid as a brick, solid sponge, a small taste of custard inside and lots of buttercream. No way was that cake fresh. My daughter had a death eater cake. Chocolate with a tiny cherry filling at £8.95. Hers was also very dry but not as bad. If you are buying these, ask if they are freshly made. Otherwise its a lot of money to waste.

I visited the Gate with my daughter for Sunday roast. I had the beef and my daughter the lamb. It was honestly one of the best roasts I have had in a long time. The service was really good and friendly and very efficient. I would highly recommend and will be back. Thank you ‘The Gate’.

What a way to take advantage of late October sunshine? Sitting out with a bottle of wine and tucking into another amazing Crab Royale salad. The local delicacy, dressed crab along with cockles, smoked mackerel, prawns, coleslaw & potato salad. Probably the best value lunch along this pricey stretch of coastline. Roll on next summer for more visits to this quirky seafood shack...although interesting to see developments inside... a packed cute indoor restaurant, toasty warm, gingham tablecloths and candlelit tables. An ideal spot for birders and walkers on a nippy day. A lovely warm welcome as usual and a family business to cherish.

Not a great experience. As you'd exit an airport the price is hi for what you receive. That said the food should be hot and as you're usually pushed for time in a n airport, what can you do? Probably won't use this restaurant again.

We had dinner here in Feb 24, the food was excellent and well priced. We were made to feel very welcome and I would highly recommend this place, we would definitely return next time we are on the boat.

Great place, great service and really good food at reasonable prices. An enjoyable celebratory lunch with family. Would certainly recommend.

We have given it three tries, first, food was OK, short staffed, bad service, 2nd similar but food again was ok, tried again last night, 8pm booking, only us and a table of 4, another couple were then seated, table of 4 had finished. We ordered starters and mains, starters arrived, yes ok, having finished those they were cleared, we awaited our mains, we could see 4 main meals on the counter where the two chefs were as only us and the other couple, they had to be ours, after watching for ten minutes and still sitting there under the heat lamps, I spoke with the manager, he went to them but apparently not fully prepared, awaiting chips ? After about a further 10 minutes they were served to us, no cutlery so we had to take from the next table, the food was dry, mixed grill was awful eggs were now rubbery all meat was dry, salad was warm, the other meal was equally as bad, warm salad and small tomatoes, chicken dried out, sauce congealed. Neither edible, so mostly left. No we didn’t have to pay, but how can Two chefs not prepare 2 meals to come out fresh and hot, it’s wasn’t as if it was busy, total joke, maybe time to replace with a new restaurant team. I feel all there have become complacent. To be that empty on a Saturday evening, something is wrong.

Yorkshire pudding wrap is a great lunch and extremely affordable. Great service from lovely staff. Used to miserable staff in London, nice to see friendly happy faces in Southend :)

Went here on Friday for a wake and they had closed the pub for this occasion ... The staff were just lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food was absolutely gorgeous and well presented. The occasion was a sad affair as we had lost someone who meant the world to us but honestly I couldn't think of a nicer place and setting to end the day. Truly amazing!!

Roast beef very elastic. Hard dry vegetables. We did tell you but little engagement to apologise. Deserts served were much better.

Great night out... Great priced drinks... and added bonus it was karaoke night

No straw provided and missing items. Just eat refused to refund for the items that were missing
