Four of us went for Sunday Carvery today we are regulars and it’s usually fine but today it was disgusting lack of vegetables, roast potatoes hardly done, the meats were tough apart from Turkey and very fatty. We got our food no gravy waited 5min for it whilst food getting cold. It eventually came put on food it was like warm and certainly was not a meat gravy probably a vegetarian gravy as it was very pale and tasted funny and powdery. Very very poor Grayling

I can’t fault the food or drinks was all top notch however what let it down was the long wait between asking us if we wanted another dessert or drink. We waited about 30/45 mins before asked and I think it was too long considering the amount of people that were there. The ladies were lovely and you could see they were working hard so it was understandable, maybe get a few more staff members and it would have been a 5/5

It's still eating outside but I really wanted a roast dinner, and this was absolutely spot on. We had a choice of half a dozen tables and there were several other diners because it was sunny. We phoned ahead and were informed that we could just turn up, the Covid protocols were straight forward, and our waitress was friendly, efficient and never forgot about us. We got exactly the roast dinner we ordered and it soon came really hot and fresh. It was a good value lunch, and we would definitely recommend this place, even if you have to eat outside. Been going here for over 4 years while on holiday. The food here has always been good but not this year. Had a carvery which they bring to the table because of the Covid 19, so you can’t see the food you want to eat. Unfortunately it turned out that the food was dry and had no flavour, possibly where it had been standing too long under the heat lamps. A very disappointing experience.

Anyway I had a bottle of Budweiser, asked for a glass with it, well the glass looked as though it had been around for years and years. My husband had a Pt of Pedigree which was so bad he couldn't drink, he said it tasted sour! Have to say we didn't order food or drink our drinks, instead we left and found somewhere more pleasant. I Visited The Grayling in Great Yarmouth on the 12th August. My first impression extremely poor as the lady (Toni Sawyer) greeting us was very offhand and miserable. I had booked two reservations and was told they cancelled one as they thought it must have been double booked in error. This was not the case. Fortunately she was able to still accommodate us but certainly was not happy about it. All they needed to do was check as they had my email address. On arrival to the table it was very dirty, with dried ketchup and salt scattered on the table and very sticky in places. We always have the right to expect cleanliness but certainly even more so in the middle of a pandemic. I asked for the table to be cleaned and in a loud voice across the restaurant she said to the person responsible for cleaning tables that I had complained. His answer was “I’m sorry if I missed one little spot!!!” Both being very sarcastic. I have to say despite this the standard of the food was acceptable and the waitress Nicky lovely and friendly. However I would not visit this place again.

Today was special for us as a family so we booked well in advance as we had my sister and family staying on holiday. The place was empty when we arrived at 2 only us and one other table. The Carvery was awful nobody got what they ordered and it was terrible, no roast potato's on plate so had to go and ask and when they came they were hard Aunt Bessie jobs, also the meat was gristly and not a lot of it. We were back and forth asking to change things so many times it ruined the day we didn't even bother with the cakes we were looking forward to. Would not of happened if Caroline was still with us and working there. We have put a lot of custom the graylings way because of our holiday let's but wouldn't now Absolutely terrible. Not my first choice today as didn’t enjoy my meal last time we visited but as close to B&Q which is where we were with heavy bags and closest thing to us didn’t have much choice. Booked a table online 4 days prior to visit (bare in mind you dont have to book you just have to take any seat and order at the bar) and a table was reserved for us. From start to finish everything went perfect. Our waitress was on the ball to deliver and clear our plates. And she didnt feel the need to ask if everything was ok when we all had a mouth full of food which is always a rare pleasantry at most restaurants. Now there is nothing that sets of the meal better then getting EXACTLY what you ordered first time round. Both rump steaks were cooked perfectly I only wish I had chosen a better cut of meat as I'm fully aware rumps tend to be fatty and excessive chewing of food stresses me out so more fool me but the chefs couldnt have made it more enjoyable Lady behind the bar this evening (7/3/2020) I believe her name was jo, was an exceptional asset to the team. I visited here tonight with 2 children and two other adults. My 15 year old is a very fussy eater and only liked the choice on the kids menu. I explained this when ordering and was told this was not an issue for hom to order a kids meal. Three of us ordered adult meals. However when the kids meal was brought out, the waitress stared at my son when I told her who the meal was for. She then went and whispered to a young waitress next to our table. The young waitress then stared at us while being whispered to making us feel we were being talked about! I asked for a glass of orange which was paid for with the kids meal. A woman came over who I think was the manager as she was dressed all in black, different to all other staff. She questioned me about whether I had paid for the drink and had to prove this by showing her the receipt. I asked her for my sons pudding to be brought out as he had finished his main. When she brought it out, she said to us 'I could have brought a bigger spoon but I decided not too'. This I think was due to her brining out a very small like tea spoon for him to eat with which is what they provide to children. Obviously she knew my son wasn't a small child but she decided to be extremely rude and obnoxious. There was no need for her or the other two members of staff to be the way they were. I checked ordering the kids meal was ok before we ordered and paid to be told this was fine. I will never return here. These staff in particular need to be trained on how to be polite in general. I will be sure to let all my friends and family know exactly how bad this place is and to avoid at all costs!

We visited here while away in our camper van. We had the 2 for 11, The carvery was lovely and the chef was very generous with the meat plus we had apple pie for dessert. In fact the whole meal was outstanding. The service was good and the ambience if the place was relaxing and chilled. This was a weekday lunchtime visit, so nit sure how it would be on a weekend. But the staff where very accommodating and helpfully. Will definitely visit again.

We went there for the first time with friends today,a wet Tuesday! A very clean and welcoming place, the staff were friendly and pleasant. The men had the mixed grill and we had scampi and a Sandwich with fries, the orders arrived looked and tasted lovely,we progressed onto the sweets which were very reasonably priced and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the seating was actually comfortable to sit on!

Went for carvery lunch on a Monday. We were the second couple up, the chef carving was friendly and very helpful, veg selection was good. We both had the beef and it was just Wow! Everything was lovely and hot and we both cleared our generously filled plates, so sadly no room for dessert. The service was very good from the man on the till, the chef and the waitress, would definitely recommend and return.

Went here yesterday with my husband and kids. First impression wasnt great, really should have left at that point but kids were hungry. I smiled at the bar lady as she walked passed she looked the other way very poker faced!! Found a table easily moved a couple of times due to sticky messy tables. Ordering food was simple enough although again no friendly service from the same lady. Waited to be told we could go up for our carvery, when we did there was nobody there to assist so we grabbed our own plates which were dirty so kept looking for clean ones. We then got told off for doing this as you are supposed to wait for assistance, not that we would know this as nobody told us. Got a good amount of meat served up and the carvery guy was friendly enough, told him about dirty plates which he started checking out. Knife and forks arrived which again were dirty, we were sitting nxt to knife and fork unit so as no staff were around I helped myself to clean ones, that didnt go down well. As we were sitting eating our food one waitress and the very poker faced bar lady were talking loudly next to our table they made comments about a traveler family that had been in earlier in the day and how they had all their kids with them. The rest of the conversation about the travellers was just to offensive to put into words on here. Poker face then went on to make digs about me helping myself ...shocked to say the least!! The food was mostly frozen apart from the meat. Potatoes not even edible. Very confrontational staff which made me feel I couldn't complain. This place has potential but not with staff like that. Wont visit again that's for sure !!!

We went as family of five, 4 Adults and 1 child, we order two Carvery main course and 2 main course from main menu, when we went to get over carvery to be told they had one beef, the meat we were given was so small and we had the larger plate plus pigs in blankets added to them. The stuffing was like rubber the vegetables were cold and To top it all a man from the kitchen refilled the mash potato and licked his fingers in front of use. Will not be visiting again.

Went to The Grayling for the first time 2 nights ago. Stood inside the entrance as we didn’t know how the seating works there. After a couple of minutes, a waitress walked towards us, I smiled as I thought she would help! But no, she looked at us, totally ignored us and turned about!! I then said ‘do we wait to be seated?’ The lady behind the bar said ‘no pick any table’... We sat next to a dumb waiter, and looked through the menu. Again we didn’t know how to order! The same waitress walked to the dumb waiter. I asked ‘do we order at the table or go to the bar’. She didn’t even cast an eye towards us and said ‘go to the bar’ and walked away. At this point, we got up and left! I don’t expect al-la-cart from a multi-chain eatery, but I do at least expect to be received with a little curtesy. We felt like we were an inconvenience.... obviously I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get that far..

Went there with my family for lunch. There were quite a few empty tables when we arrived so thought we wouldnt have to wait long. When you arrive you have to wait to be seated which is fine, except for the fact there were 2 staff serving a busy bar (this is understandable) and another 2 just folding napkins and gossiping together. After 20 minutes of waiting to be seated we gave up and went next door to frankie & Benny's where we were seated and served straight away. In future I wouldnt even give the grayling consideration.

We never have a bad experience here, this is primarily due to the excellent attentive service from Caroline, an absolute diamond who makes sure every meal service is superb. Out granddaughters love to see her and when we come as a couple, they are upset because Caroline to them is The Grayling! Honest, great value food, but service that is second to none ! Xx

We arrived with no booking at about 4pm and we're quickly seated. The food was hot and very good. The desserts were served shortly after being ordered. The only thing we noticed was a server having her break in the outside seating area with her feet up on the seat and smoking where it was not allowed.

I was staying in the area and had lunch here four times. The experience in terms of service and food was variable. With regards to service, there is an older waitress who needs more training and does not know the menu very well. She seemed very unsure of herself and had trouble recording our order, having to repeat ourselves several times. Answers to our reasonably basic questions about the menu were "I think so..." and that did not fill us with much confidence. The younger waitresses were very good, attentive and friendly - so something must be going well in terms of staff training. We were also given warm tap water with no ice on a hot, summer day. This was partly due to the high price of drinks - £3.10 for canned drinks and £5.75+ for a milkshake. The surf and turf burger was really good - I would recommend this, as the crayfish, pawns and burger were lovely with the sauce. This was consistently good. The gammon, egg, chips and peas was also yummy and good value. The meat was well-cooked, as were the chips. The haddock was really nice on one occasion, with light and crispy batter. But on another occasion the batter was hard and overcooked, accompanied by cold chips and peas.

We found this fantastic pub whilst staying at a nearby caravan park, and I'm so glad we did. The setting is wonderful beside the broads. Shame it was chucking it down whilst we were there. The service was impeccable. Staff were all very accommodating. The food was amazing. Large portions, so beware. We had no room for pudding. I had the chicken Caesar salad, amazing. My father plumped for the pie and he said he'd never seen such an array of veggies on his plate. Other dishes sampled included the scampi, and my son had a burger from the children's menu, said it was the best he'd ever eaten. Thoroughly recommend giving the Bell a try, you won't regret it.

From the moment we walked into this restaurant we were greeted by very friendly helpful staff. Karolina, Sam & Jennie, thank you for providing us with first class service! The restaurant was well presented and there was a great choice on the menu. Our food arrived promptly, presented well and was delicious. The staff were attentive throughout. We even returned the following day for breakfast which was also well cooked and delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was nice and on time, but not all the items were available. I ordered food for myself and wife and only my wife’s drink was delivered. I had no contact by just eat or costa to give me the chance to order something different. I just had a note on the receipt stating they were unavailable and to claim my money back through just eat which will be reviewed in the next 7 days…. Overall not great.
