Terrible place waited over an hour for tastless food half of it missing , watched food being dropped on floor

Run down since last time I visited in need of a makeover from car park onwards dirty grim and food although plentiful was lukewarm will not be going k sorry to say

Popped in for a drink about 9pm was dead same as most of dunstable now

Absolutely fantastic. I had the lasagne and my brother had the Hunters Chicken, both were delicious. Really good value for money, presentation and taste were brilliant. Thank you. We made sure we left room for dessert. Sooo pleased we did as again both the Crumble & Chocolate cake were awesome.

A good place to spend your free time, you can dance and have a drink. I recommend it, very nice atmosphere.

Delivery slightly later than time ordered but nothing to worry about. Food was great and courier very polite. Wished me a happy new year and thanked me for the tip.

Food was tasty but only luke warm. Unsure if the courier had a second order to deliver but map showed him on the wrong route.

Had my Christmas dinner in the loaf excellent food could not fault it. My boys and grandchildren loved it. Special thanks to Tracey and the staff.

Owner treated us so badly! We tried to order a drink and the bar lady was quite rude and said we shut in 20 mins so we just left it and decided we play pool to wait for our taxis. He then came up to us at the pool table and said it was disrespectful to play pool without ordering a drink. Terrible customer service and owner really needs to get a grip.

I don’t begrudge anyone a living but I do object to being charged to spend my money. Can’t believe they charge me to park in the car park to spend my money in their pub. Disgusting, never again!!!

Food cold and really disappointing. Thought a midday order on a weekday would be delivered promptly but was wrong. Time varied by 30 minutes from when first ordered. Driver came to Houghton Regis via Kiln Way when they normally cut through the industrial estate. Possibly a multi-drop delivery, however, this should be organised better so that deliveries are closer together so that food quality is not compromised.

I'm so glad that people are starting to see this place for what it is. I have left reviews for this place in the past and they have been unceremoniously deleted. Funny that, isn't it? The manager is a miserable excuse of a human being. I have no idea how he got to the position of running a large, nice looking, historic public house. The brewery / owners should really be ashamed of themselves to give this guy a job. Constantly on a power trip, talks to customers like they are subhuman scum, kicks people out and bars them for no reason. Just a horrible person. As you'll see from previous reviews below, he kicks people out of the place for no reason and has abused customers repeatedly - even burning someone with their coffee that they had just paid for !! This does not surprise me AT ALL. The female manager is a hard faced, sharp, abrupt. unreasonable woman who speaks to customers like they are below her. She LOVES arguing with people and being super unreasonable. Yes, I know you have to deal with degenerate alcoholics all day, but this is your choice in career and you shouldn't take it out on everyone. I don't know who hurt her in the past, but she seems to take it out on literally anyone who dares to speak or question her in any way. Nasty piece of work. As previous reviews have stated, If you go to this place on a weekend evening, expect to be manhandled or battered by the "security" or barred for no reason. If you have the guts to complain, you get barred. if you send them messages on Facebook, you get blocked. If you try to tell other people with bad reviews, they get deleted. I ordered a classic hot dog which says served with chips and got a chilli (literally as was stone cold) dog with no chips, expected better. If I wanted a cold bag of disappointment I would have got a McDonald’s. Refund requested and I am now waiting for my dinner from elsewhere

Delivery driver extremely rude!! Food has been tampered with, the bag had been opened and the cartoon on top of the chips was loose and there was hardly any chips!! Just eat delivery drivers are a disgrace, food was lovely from the sugar loaf but had been tampered with!!!

Trying to find a pub serving food in Dunstable on a hot July lunchtime was a challenge but one that was met admirably by the Sugarloaf. Best value lunch by miles. Two roast beef plates on Special and a Ploughman's lunch. Hit the spot. Great food. Great value. Keep it up.

Original choice of restaurant was closed so we went here instead, and will go here in future. My steak was cooked to perfection, chips swapped for jacket spud which was like fluffy mash in a lovely crispy skin. Partner said her Hunters Chicken was the nicest she'd ever had. Pub doesn't look much from the outside and inside didn't inspire but it's clean, service is good and we would highly recommend.

Don't home here, the owner is an aggressive and unpredictable person. You'll buy your coffee and after you paid he'll kick you out. Takes advantage of being old and fragile to be violent.

We had a traumatic experience when the "manager" (an old bald man) attacked us while we were trying to have coffee. My family and I were having coffee when he came to tell us we had to leave and put his arms around my husband's chest. One man saw the whole thing and saved us from the old man, but seriously, he is a danger to society. He is a bully and very aggressive. I have been reading the reviews and he has attacked many people besides us. Be careful about going to this place because you may come out traumatized like me, it really affected me a lot, I will never go back.

The manager/owner kicked us out after just buying coffees there, when we refused he tried grabbing my coffee and ended up burning my hand and chest on the struggle. Visited for father's day breakfast with my family. Was very busy when they first opened - at 11am on sundays - but they worked through the queue and served a delicious breakfast at a very fair price. We'll definitely be back.

Disappointed on this occasion. Lacking in twister fries, only a small amount compared to last time. No salad to go with the lasagne. The coleslaw is runny and there is little meat in the lasagne. I’ve had top quality prior to today. Will have to consider if I use this place again.

Bouncers made to feel very uncomfortable as as soon as walk in the door! Physical force from a male bouncer slamming a girl onto the floor without necessary means, will be taking the further! Disgusting behaviour from people who are supposed to be there to keep people safe 😡

Been eating there for a while food is normally excellent there.todays food absolutely disgusting cold chips burgers burnt and when we complained the so called manager refunded us for the meal then banned us from the premises and told us not to come back.the bar staff are absolutely brilliant but the management's attitude and the way he spoke to us was disgusting ain't gonna miss this place 1 bit

My son took me and my family for a meal hes been going here for a while and said the food was lovely. FIrstly the staff were belittled infront of all the customers the language used by the manager was terrible the food was absolutely disgusting when we asked for the general manager he came over to the table we weren't let explain anything he was extremely rude and arrogant he gave us a full refund and told my son never to go back. I asked to speak to the owner to be told he was the owner. Well no wonder it was empty. I feel for the staff who were left shocked and embarrassed by his horrendous attitude!!

Attended recently with a group of friends to watch ‘Sweet Female Attitude’ perform live. Has the best time! The night literally flew by. Such a great atmosphere, drinks reasonably priced. Can’t wait to come to the next event

Went for Mother’s Day, they very kindly moved us to the main room where the entertainment was going to be seen as we were originally put out the front on a random table. The value for money was great! And if you parked there you got £2 back from the car park ticket against drinks which was a great incentive. The roast dinner was huge and it was great! The only downside was my roast potatoes weren’t crispy, they almost felt undercooked and like they had been sat there for a long time. There was a young girl on service and she was the main person I saw on the floor and she was always smiling and always happy to help! The entertainment was great as well :) overall had a great time!

Food was great, quite reasonably priced but slightly misleading on the pies and toads menu, admittedly it says "from" £8.49 but only the top one (steak and ale) is £8.49 and the rest are all more (£10 for steak and kidney suet pudding and £11.50 for toad in the hole) but they're not priced on the menu. Service was fine, wait staff were nice enough but my wife hadn't finished her meal yet and the waitress started clearing our table. Asked for a few more mins and was fine. Atmosphere was as you'd expect from a wetherspoons-esque watering hole at 1240 on a Tuesday. Bit rough and ready but perfectly pleasant if you know what to expect. Will be back.

I attended this hidden Gem for the launch of the local business network event for #BusinessBuzz Firstly what a wonderful venue the place is massive and the staff are outstanding. The networking event was attended by of 60 local entrepreneurs putting Dunstable well and truly on the map. I’ll now be having local meetings and lunches their with potential new clients

Ordered a chicken caesar salad wrap. Did not receive the food I ordered. A tray with chicken and lettuce leaves in a sauce is not a chicken wrap !

For the price of each dish you expect high standard of food to arrive but it was not very nice at all and not very big portions at all. The food has definitely gone down hill we used to order quite often but I don’t think we will return again.

Just had breakfast and once again the best breakfast in town. Coming from 20 years in the food industry I can justly say you are on point.

Very disappointed with the nachos, they didn’t come with salsa sour cream or guacamole, there was hardly any chilli on the nachos at all and no jalapeños either. The farmhouse breakfast however looks amazing.

If I could rate my experience here as a zero, I would. The staff are unprofessional and the door staff are bullies. My mum was subjected to a common assault inside this establishment by a member of their staff and when she reported the incident to their security staff, she was told to leave. One of their door staff shouted and put her hands in her face, trying to intimidate her. It was an awful experience for us all. We were with people who know the owner- in fact he bought a house from them and they frequent the place . I’m not sure that he is aware of the people that he employs to work on the door during the evenings though. My mum messaged them on Facebook to inform them of the incident and of the behaviour of the staff that they employ. She was then blocked, which really says it all. The incident was reported to the police .

I visited this pub last night with my daughter and my friend with her daughter. I’m a middle aged professional woman and we visited after a meal out in Leighton Buzzard. I have never in my life been treated the way that I was treated by their ‘security’ staff. I was man handled by one of their staff after sitting down on a chair near to the bar. No warning was given, he just came up behind me and grabbed me to move me. I complained to the door staff and was shouted at, bullied and then told to leave the premises. These men are awful people, I did not feel protected in these premises as I should have done. I’m a 5ft 5 middle aged woman and felt intimidated by the people they pay to look after people’s safety. I tried to contact them via messenger and was then blocked on Facebook. I feel very let down by the managers and owner of this establishment

Food didn't not arrive. They said they delivered it and nothing.

I came here tonight with my friend and our two daughters - my daughter is 18 and hers is 24. We arrived not long after 10pm after having a meal out. As we stood at the bar, I jokingly said to my friend that my feet were killing and I needed to sit down, so she dragged across a chair ( from a table nearby) so I could sit down. As I sat down, I was forcibly moved by one of the men on duty. He said nothing to me and put his hands under my arms and physically moved me off the chair. I felt completely shocked. We laughed at the ridiculousness of it but after a second, I realised how it had been unnecessary for a man to to lay his hands on me and move me for no reason and I really felt violated. I spoke to the door staff to report what had happened. The bouncer, Paul, apparently reviewed the CCTV and deemed it okay behaviour for a man to do this to me. I spoke to the ‘door staff’ outside and was told I was no longer welcome there. The guy, Paul, said that I had provoked the man’s behaviour into physically moving me from the chair and when I attempted to discuss this with him he began raising his voice , talking over me and making me feel very intimidated. I’m a professional middle aged woman of little more than 5ft 5 who has never in her life been asked to leave anywhere. My daughter came out to see if she could reason with the man but he wouldn’t listen and another member of their team then joined the conversation. Their behaviour was completely unwarranted. I was told that I could call the police if I thought that I had been ‘assaulted’ but I pointed out that my phone was still inside. He then offered for me to use his to call them. I declined but then immediately changed my mind and then said that I would. He then said that I couldn’t because I’d had my chance! The door staff at this place are bullies , completely unreasonable and very unpleasant . A man, a complete stranger, laid his hands on me and moved me from a chair without my permission in a pub on a night out with friends and my family. I complained about this and was asked to leave. I actually don’t know what else I can say.

Got charged over £7 for 3 chicken strips, alot of money for the standard of the food. Maybe they saw I wasn't a regular and gave me less.
