BG's Country Store And Cafe in Central Bedfordshire

We came to the car boot last weekend and popped in for breakfast. I chose mine and my boyfriend chose the omelette. At the till the young lad turned to his colleague and asked if an omelette would be ok, he said ‘ dunno go and ask ‘ so he asked the lady in the kitchen who just said ‘no’. So he came out and said ‘we can’t do an omelette’ so my boyfriend picked the club sandwich. The same thing happened, this time he said ‘ I don’t want to get shouted at let me go and check’. Then we heard another ‘ no ‘. He came back and said only breakfast (the menu does not state timings or what things can be ordered at what time) so we said don’t worry and left. No apology or anything. Menus need updating to be clearer and more professional staff. Not sure why an omelette wouldn’t be served for breakfast. We used to come in most weekends for omelettes at breakfast time, we will not be back.

Nice food. However apart from cook the food you have to pretty much do everything else. It's almost self serve

Great place to get fruit and veg has a good animal feed section covering fish small animals up to horses and horse tack. There's a section of gifts a section for garden tools and fertilizers. They have a cafe with a dogs allowed area too. If you have a well behaved dog that's good on recall they have a walking field to the side with a small wooded area that runs up to a stream that being used to help our Vole population, you can let you dog off for a good run. Note it's not fully enclosed.

Staff friendly but still need a little training. Food is average but have only had breakfast here so far. Will try lunch and see if it improves.

I was dismayed by the language and topic of conversation used by the young men in the kitchen. Bragging and challenging each other at the tops of their voices using obscenities. I will not go back.

If your into horses and more this is the place to visit a wide range of Equine equipment the cafe is very good they also have a wide selection of fresh veg and frozen ready meals fully recommended

Very disappointed. Staff uninterested in really serving us. Food had stopped by 2.30pm. 27th Oct. One cake not delivered then no milk with two coffees, the staff just wanted to get away. All at the kitchen end chatting. What a shame

Really nice cozy cafe it was quiet as it was early. You have to get called over to collect your own drinks which is strange and unfortunately I had a caramel frappe and there was no flavour it was just cream in a cup with sauce around the outside. The full breakfast was nice and good quality sausage. My pouched egg was cooked well. Toast it was sat on was so cold the butter didn't melt. It was OK. Lovely gift shop and lovely groceries adjoining. X

People need to review the actual store rather than the cafe. The store is amazing with LOADS of different organic food. At Christmas time, I do look forward to visiting as there are loads of different items which you don’t see in the general supermarket. It also has quality footwear. From walking boots to wellies. There’s an equestrian section too which my mrs always looks forest too. There’s lots to this store! I highly recommend it.

We often come here for lunch or coffee so we decided to come for breakfast. The food was well cooked ..could have been a bit warmer. I took a point off as I would prefer to butter my own toast so it doesn’t go soggy. The shop is well stocked with friendly staff

The place has been a favourite for s few years,now a little disheartened.The breakfast has had price increase and they have cut down what they give you minus one sausage and one hash browns.I know you have been closed for a time but don't increase the prices to get your money.It.wss quiet when I went in usually busy.Treat us well and we'll come back if not another customer walks.Great.staff but they are only half of the reason to come in.

We use this cafe very often on Sundays and although they don't have roast dinner's the food they serve is excellent, their breakfast is first class. The staff are always very helpful and the cafe and kitchen are very clean. I would recommend this cafe to anyone.

This cafe is fantastic, they have a good menu and the staff are very attentive and friendly. They also are excellent with covid precautions . We come regularly. Well done to all. Should be 10 stars

Was looking forward to the cafe opening up again but what is going on !!! We perfectly understand the Covid precautions and the importance of staying safe but the experience wasnt good. We were shown to a table that wasnt that clean but no problem as we wiped it with our own wipes. We ordered £55.00 worth of food and drinks and to be honest the food was nowhere as good as before the lock down. On leaving we were informed that it was our responsibility to clear up . Wasnt expecting that !! I have not experienced this in any other resturant / cafe.. I took my two daughters with me to show them this little treasure but we were all so dissapointed . Standards seem to have sliped somewhat.

Good menu of popular dishes with weekly reductions for seniors from Monday to Wednesday. Not an extensive menu but dishes are consistently prepared and good value. We use this cafe often for just that purpose but if we want a wider choice we use other outlets.

A good place for breakfast at a reasonable price, whilst can be a bit noisy this weekend it was a bit quieter. The staff work hard to keep pace with the orders. My eggs Benedict was lovely as usual with lovely fresh eggs. However the hollandaise sauce was a bit strong. My friends poached eggs were perfectly done too. Good value and it is easy to park.

This cafe is an in-store cafeteria which is bright and clean with plenty of stainless steel and formica, It is situated at the end of the Country Store which sells vegetables, fruit,. pet supplies equestrian equipment, good quality country clothing, and gifts.The cafe has a limited menu of good well presented snacks, cooked breakfasts and lunches which have to be ordered and paid from at the servery and then are nicely presented to diners at their tables,.In addition to the Cafe customers can have the use of a garden with some children play equipment and toilet accommodation.

Good menu and well priced. They have a few specials but generally the menu is fairly typical of a garden centre type kitchen. Meals are well presented and consistent which is all you can ask for the price. A good place to come with pleasant staff. The shop has a good selection of produce, garden accessories, pet food and gifts on sale as well.

Freindly helpful staff great choice on the menu lovely cakes. very clean warmand welcoming. Second visit and will not be our last.

A great garden store withso much more very interesting items for sale and friendly helpful staff.The cafe/retruarant offers a great variety and at a good price well worth a visit.

This represents a very social and comfortable area for a break, provides a superb reasonably priced breakfast with a typical menu of well priced lunch fayre. Well worth a visit whether shopping or not! Drive by at your peril. First class staff! With interesting and well stocked shop area with interesting kitchenaliar and food.

Superb full English breakfast here!

This review is just for BG’s Café - we stopped here for something to eat before doing our food shopping and there were plenty of car parking spaces. You have to go up to the counter to order your food and after waiting about ten minutes, our food was brought to us. We both had the Full English breakfasts which were freshly cooked, hot and tasty. The staff were friendly and polite and the café was spotlessly clean - BG’s Café is definitely worth a visit.

Full English breakfast is superb, large range farm foods, clothes animal feed etc, plenty of parking too.

I ate here with my daughter before visiting the country store, and we had a couple of drinks and shared a baguette. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the sandwich was good - the bread was fresh and crusty, and came with a small salad which was good.We didn't have to wait long for the drinks or food.The wifi worked well, which was good because mobile phone signals were poor.Parking is free, and the entire site and country store is on one level, so is accessible for people with mobility problems.We also visited the country store to buy some horse riding things and the staff there were helpful too.

Plenty of parking. Has a cafe with a very good selection of meals and snacks. Can eat outside. Good selection of goods and food to buy. Pet foods. Cards. Clothes. Vegetables. Gifts. Etc.

Fair range of items. Mostly for pets and horses. Good for big sacks of potatoes

Do not use this shop as advertise one price then when get to till try charge you pound more,took photo of price showed to manager all he said its price at the till,so told him to stick it have been going there for years so will use gm growers now
