Roast beef very elastic. Hard dry vegetables. We did tell you but little engagement to apologise. Deserts served were much better.

Can’t praise the lovely staff here enough, attentive and polite. Called in for lunch with family from the states , delicious food. A real pleasure as opposed to the Greene king pub we booked on Saturday evening that didn’t inform us that the kitchen was closed and had awful customer service. Look forward to visiting again.

Had a lovely lunch today served by a wonderful waitress called Claire the food was amazing and so was she well done on a busy day still kept smiling 10/10

Went for lunch to celebrate my wife's ordination on the 29th. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and professional. Even before we got there nothing was too much bother, having rang them 3 times over the weeks to expand the table as more family wanted to eat. Ended up with 22 of us eating, excellent service and food excellent. We did not stay in the rooms this time but have a couple of years ago and would highly recommend them. Some family did stay this time and were very happy with their room. Only 2 minutes to the grounds of the Cathedral.

Came with friends before we headed into town for lunch. I’ve never been to the fox before but my friend recommended it to me as she occasionally stops by to have lunch here. Staff were friendly and we were shown to a table as we were greeted at the door. Service was flawless and food was good for the price. Wasn’t too busy and the decor seemed very old fashioned which suited the pub itself. Will definitely visit again.

I was a little disappointed tonight with my food I ordered the gammon and instead of chips I asked for baby potatoes and I got what looked like roast potatoes that were ready crispy and there was only 5 on my plate pineapple was black my friends chicken was over done and couldn't put a fork through it which we mentioned and all we got was sorry chef is really busy I get that but no excuse for food to be poor I won't be going back any time soon 😞

Service was great couldn’t really fault anything. Menu had a lot to choose from so fortunately I was stuck for choice but a nice lady recommended the lamb shank so I trusted her voice. Lamb shank ended up being lovely and staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning when we pop back up to bury.

Great menu with something for everyone. Got the pub classics and more! Dog friendly, with a cosy pub atmosphere, and an airy courtyard with seating and parking. Portion sizes were good and so was the quality.

We stayed at the Fox and also ate there one night. Good reasonably central location with free parking (nice walk across Abbey Gardens to main square and up hill to centre) and lovely room. The room we had was excellent, beautifully decorated and very large. Food was decent, perfectly ok pub grub. This is really more like a restaurant than a pub. Great place to stay though.

We popped in for a dinner knowing that on previous visits the food had been good and the staff very friendly. Not so this time. A seemingly bored and indifferent person awaited us and didn't even offer a greeting. Now, don't get me wrong, I like The Rolling Stones but having "Sympathy For The Devil" as an accompaniment to overcooked scampi and soggy chips is not my idea of a relaxing meal! (served with undercooked peas) The tabletop was sticky and there were bits on the surface. The music was far too LOUD. Food was mediocre at best. Unsurprisingly, we were ignored by same unsmiling barmaid as we left, not a thank you or even did you enjoy your food, she clearly didn't care. We won't be returning which is a shame as it used to be very popular.

Went for a meal Easter Sunday and the service was excellent from start to finish. The waitress was clearly busy but was always smiling and friendly. The food was top class and will definitely recommend.

Experienced the worst experience at the fox inn Bury St Edmonds. The food was very much microwaved and to top off a very disappointing meal we got overcharged for drinks. Chose this place based on positive reviews. I guess you can’t believe everything you read!!!!!

Last minute decision to go out for dinner. Rang them and they managed to fit us in. The food was excellent yet again. Service from the team was brilliant as usual.

We popped in here just for a drink to start with then decided on stopping for lunch. Chose the turkey roast, found staff friendly and food was lovely, piping hot and reasonably priced to. A very old pub with a lovely atmosphere, worth a visit if your in the town.

Popped in here on a weekday for some lunch. Found a seat in the sun and ordered some drinks and lunch. The lamb shank was tasty but quite overpriced at £20 when the vege that came with it were actually just boiled. A tasty cheesecake desert though. I would come again but be more inquisitive as to what the meal had in it rather than relying on the picture in the menu.

I would throughly recommend visiting The Fox. The staff were very warm, welcoming and efficient particularly Vicky who had a lovely demeanour and was very attentive. Our meals arrived very quickly, they were both piping hit and delicious. The atmosphere of the pub was warm, and inviting. All round a really good find. 👍

I booked this Christmas day Lunch for 8 people and it did not disappoint. Super relaxed atmosphere and excellent service, along with great food considering the number catered for, and great value.

We had our staff Christmas party on 21/12/23 for 40 people - Just wanted to say thank you, the staff they are so welcoming and efficient, friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and we will defiantly be booking again next year. Thank you all and Happy Christmas.

We held our works Christmas party at the Fox lazt saturday and the food was fantastic, very tasty and lots of it . Visited Bury for the weekend in our motorhome. We found this pub was round the corner from where we were staying and went in for Saturday afternoon lunch around 2pm. Staff were friendly and made you feel at home, especially as we had our 21 month old cavapoo, Dolly with us. Food was superb and the ales on tap were excellent. We enjoyed her experience so much we booked for Sunday lunch the next day which didn’t disappoint either. My wife had roast pork and loved the baked apple in the side. I had the mushroom and Stilton wellington and I couldn’t fault it. All in all a wonderful experience and we will return with friends and family when we are in the area again. Keep up the great hospitality.

Yet again, another perfect meal was provided by The Fox team. My steak was cooked to perfection by Mario. Natalie was a very attentive server. Also, Clare behind the bar was awesome. The Fox team are brilliant. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Popped in after a dog walk for some lunch. We hadn’t booked and they were very busy but this wasn’t a problem for Nat & her team. The dogs and us were welcomed with open arms and seated quickly. Overcooked, over microwaved and over priced. Food was tasteless. I could have bought a ready made microwave meal and it would have had more taste and been more enjoyable at a fraction of the price.
