The staff here were really friendly. We went in for some ice cream and we got substantial portion sizes which was appreciated. I had a salted caramel. It was alright but certainly not the best salted caramel ice cream i’ve had as it wasn’t that flavoursome. But the other flavours looked really nice and might be better than the caramel so I’d say defo worth a visit

I visited the Flying Dutchman with my wife and her sister and brother-in-law for a Birthday lunch. It was Mother's Day so we booked ahead via Messenger and had a table reserved for us. It wasn't too busy when we visited although there was a bit of a wait (circa 50 minutes) for the Sunday roasts to arrive, with just two young ladies serving the food for the entire pub, but the food was excellent, with good sized portions, plenty of gravy, and all cooked to order. We keep coming back here for family meals as the cheesecake is just amazing...all made by the manager of the pub. The Cheesecake of the day was Raspberry and Lemon and it was delicious. The only minor niggles were (a) the speed of service...we just ate the roast dinner and a dessert but it took 2.5 hours, with quite a long wait before the bill was brought to the table to settle up, and (b) the price of the drinks, as the Neck Oil ale was almost £6 a pint, which is on the expensive side for the area...but overall the food is great value (£10.50 for roast dinners and £6.50 for the child's roast, which is still a good sized plateful) so overall a very nice meal experience. I am sure we will be back (for more gorgeous cheesecake!).

Not spoilt for choice on a Sunday afternoon but thought we could squeeze in lunch before moving on to another function. Sat down and given a menu and then told of the day’s specials. We ordered and were about to say why we wanted to order straight away but before we could do that the waitress told us that she had three tables in front of us (?) and that we would have to wait to place an order. Exit stage left…..

We would have liked to have had lunch here but they were, unsurprisingly, full. But, still a godsend of a find for me as I am gluten intolerant. It was SOOOO good to get a gf, vegan sausage roll as I never see such things anywhere. I wish that more bakeries like this would open up everywhere, and maybe they will. Thanks so much!

Pleasant atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff. Good range of sandwiches, tea and coffee. Ideal stopping off place when shopping in town or meeting friends. I was by myself, but felt perfectly comfortable.

Love this place. So far, only been in for their delicious coffee and wonderful custard tarts, but aim to try a lunch next time. Service is so friendly and very good value.

This place has really gone downhill since the introduction of the completely unprofessional woman who'runs' the young staff members. Blond and in her 50's by the look of her, name unknown. We waited over 10 minutes to be given a menu so we took one ourselves. The table was full of crumbs and needed wiping. There were only 2 other people sitting down when we first entered so they weren't exactly rushed off their feet. Why unprofessional? She loudly sang along to the abba Mamamia soundtrack annoyingly for the full duration of our stay and flirted with a poor young lad working in the kitchen who was young enough to be her grandson. We won't be going back. It used to be the premier place to go when the lady from Lowerstoft used to run things. Now it's around about the second division.
