Heils Bakery in Waveney

I recommend this place as its cheap and they do an excellent breakfast ; the bread in particular (presumably because its baked on site) is exceptional.

Been going to heils bakery for years and yes I speak as I find no one can fault the bread and cakes , the cafe was clean and tidy visited the bathroom all clean and in order, the coffee is awful the hot chocolate is lovely today I had a cooked breakfast served piping hot with friendly staff and the best rolls are made by Trish . It's lovely to see the owners serving customers when they are busy excellent keep up the good work and invest please in nicer coffee ☕☕☕

We sat outside people watching as tourists do! Nice place to get a cake & lovely pot of tea. Friendly staff & clean throughout. Thank you for the welcome. People down here could tell by the accent we were from The North & wished us a happy holiday. We liked that warmth. Thank you all.

We popped in here as we were in town for a meeting. Service was quick and staff friendly, breakfast was poor quality and eggs were terrible. Barely cooked.

I came here in 2017 and still haven't found myself to write a review I ordered a delicious cake and a ribena ( im the girl in the photo btw) it is a lovely warming place with great service (I had to select a random date )

Came here with family after looking for somewhere nice to stop for some lunch. I had a look on here as I usually do and saw that this place had good reviews and was serving food. As we walked in it said that last hot food orders where 1400 and cafe closed at 1430. We decided to stay as it was 1345. After finding a table and looking at the menu we went to order, this was about 1350. My father ordered a jacket potato with no issues, I was next and asked for a toastie and the lady said that they aren’t doing hot food. I said that I thought it was till 1400 which is wasn’t. To which she replied that the lady who is cooking needs to go at 1400. So I ended up going for a sausage roll which I didn’t want but she didn’t give me much choice, either that or toast 🤷🏼‍♂️. Now, I understand that we where cutting it fine, however, don’t say last orders is 1400 and not stick to it. If the “chef” needs to leave at 1400 then last orders should really be 1330 to allow her time to finish any orders and get cleaned down. Not let customers down. Moving onto the food, so my mother had a jacket spud (which they did for her even though I was next in line and from the same group) with cheese. This looked nice however didn’t come with a salad, was just a potato piled high with cheese. Salad would have been nice and is generally expected. My sausage roll was ok. We also had a cream tea which was quite nice but I’ve had better. Overall not a good experience unfortunately. So won’t be coming back again when we are next in the area.

Whenever I go to visit places I always like to find local produce and businesses. I found this place and went for Coffee and Cake. Staff are very friendly and they can't do enough. The coffee and cake was very nice and I took away some pasties.

This is a great family run cafe with quality home made cakes, fresh rolls, sandwiches and fab sausage rolls much better than other cafes. Staff are very friendly and the tea is served in a teapot. Not a teabag in a cup like some places. Well worth a visit. Great value.

Last year we bought a large Christmas cake, it was delicious. Very moist, everyone loved it. Just ordered another for this year. As I don't want to miss out or disappoint my family.....

I needed a celebratory cake for my mother’s 80th birthday. I telephoned a very helpful lady named Natasha who guided me through the options and placed my order with the Instore baker. I collected my cake within a week which was a lot quicker than all the other large bakeries. The cake was beautiful and delicious (fruit). I would have no hesitation in recommending this bakery to anyone. Again thank you Natasha

Popped in here for tea and scones last week. It was so good that we returned this week for a repeat. Nice cheesy scones and a pot of tea for two; lovely. The staff are cheerful and helpful and work hard and fast to get the orders out. And of course the price is reasonable. We will be back.

Under pressure everything was just right . Good value . Drinks excellent and cakes of course . Lunchtimes it can be manic here but staff coped well

Literally, you could try a different treat every time as they have so many baked goods. Have gotten a mini beef pie, some burger rolls, and a fresh loaf from here and it all rocked. Love the ladies in here. Def resisting the temptation to buy up all their naughty baked goodies and so far been successful but likely won’t last long... they do homemade soups too, which I’d like to try.

My wife and I went here a few days before our ex neighbour came up and so after walking along the top of the cliffs from Pakefield into Lowestoft it was an ideal place to stop for a cuppa! It is a great place for cakes etc but also for the cheese toastie which we have had since. Also reasonably priced with very friendly staff!

Great snacks and pastries, cakes etc. Large pots of tea, keen prices. Good selection plenty of choice for everyone. Staff are pleasant and helpful, you can either eat in or out or if you want take away. Not a swish modern McD type place but good old fashioned cafe.

Popped in here for a quick cup of coffee & instead was tempted by the cheese & bacon wrap. Lovely puff pastry with plenty of filling. This light snack carried me throughout the day. Busy but friendly environment & great place to stop for snacks or light meals.

Lived in Lowestoft all my life and have only ever bought a sausage roll or cake to eat out from here before. We decided to sit in and get lunch and I'm very glad we did. Menu was very impressive, staff very friendly and food lovely!

We often pop in for a breakfast or cheese on toast. Choose 5 or 7 breakfast items of your own preference. It's all griddled to perfection and served promptly. Very handy when in need of sustenance whilst shopping in town.

We always buy our celebration cakes from here, have for years, so do all of my family, they are traditional and really reasonable and so tasty, sponge and buttercream is delicious 😋

Not bad for a quick stop off. No frills cafe which caters for most snack minded people. They serve cakes, pastries, sandwiches, rolls, toasties etc all of which taste pretty good but best of all, great value! You'll struggle to find a cafe which is cheaper in the area to be honest. I've knocked a point off as the seating area looks a bit dated and the cafe can be quite noisy and chaotic during busy times with staff shouting orders out and customers blocking the narrow gangway.

Called in to get take away ordered toasted sandwich cheese and bacon there wad so much cheese it was very tasty

I recommend the toasted sandwiches as perfectly made with delicious cheese. Chocolate fresh cream eclairs are also delicious. Rarely visit lowestoft but when i do i will pop in for a toastie or jacket potato. The counter staff are pleasant,prompt and professional

I was in town and fancied a quick cuppa, and Heils was right nearby, so called in and ordered tea and a tea cake. It was ok but nothing to write home about, and the place has more of a cheap café feel about it. Would I bother again, probably, but only if nothing else was available.

Love the look and feel of this place, like going back in time when your nan took you out for an éclair. Sadly the cakes are a bit salty and cheap tasting. probably the only place you can still get cream cakes made with mock cream. saying that, my other half tells me the cauliflower marzipan mock cream cakes are legendary in these parts!not my cup of tea but clean, fresh and appealing to some appetites

This is one of my all time favourite bakeries and it has been since childhood (and that was is in the 1980s, in case you're wondering!). Fantastic food, great service and really good value for money. Also, they do amazing birthday cakes!

Very 1950's feel about it with twee little cakes but if you want a quiet afternoon tea this is good to go. The sandwiches are also very good and reasonably priced.

Friendly staff, Good service, Don't que for long. Cakes are lush and always fresh! The pastrys ie sausage rolls, pastys etc are very nice too. There breakfast is good value for money. All there menu is good for value and is all very nice. Would recommend.

They sell lovely fresh cream cakes, iced slices are to die for. Plenty of seating for larger groups.

I really like this place. It is very traditional and offers great value for money in a town fairly devoid of clean and simple places to eat. It is always busy and provides good, if a little slow service. There is a huge choice of bakery produce and hot and cold food too. Regular customers are of the older generation and they recognise the value for money. However, lunchtime sees younger local office workers and managers call in for takeaway food and drinks. Heils opens early and is great for a breakfast and a coffee. Service, although friendly and polite, can be slow at both busy and quiet times. I will continue to frequent this Café and enjoy their simple good value hospitality. Keep up the good work. For this type of establishment it's as good as it gets.

the whole place is in need of a refab, the inside of the building has seen better days. The staff need to smile a bit more

Its always busy in here with nice friendly and helpful staff. The prices are very reasonable and you can have anything from a full english to tea and a bun. It seems all bread and cakes are made on site. Good choice of sandwiches, rolls, omelettes and toasted sandwiches. Many varieties of pies and cakes too.

This is a grubby little bakery with seating only suitable for children. The service was shoddy and hurried and the staff impolite. Will not visit here again.

Went in after googling for a bakery in Lowestoft. And Heils was fab.Two gorgeous, frosted cupcakes and an eccles cake. Eaten over a couple of days, nothing dried out, and the eccles was one of the best i've had.Awesome to have such a good bakery without the pretentiousness of high street bakery chains!

This is a great bakery where you can buy cakes, bread etc, plus they have a great cafeteria. I ordered my 90 year old dad's birthday cake here and it was lovely

Always good, always consistent, hot sausage rolls are legendary. My only negative is that they don't accept debit cards - come on guys its 2015 ! They would get a lot more business from me for a start if they did......

Lovely bakery and coffee shop. No frills, quite basic and dated seating, but clean. They do excellent snacks - egg on toast, beans on toast, omelette, toastie etc as well as rolls and sandwiches. And their cakes are delicious. No fancy coffee machines, just basic coffee, tea etc. Prices best in town. Great place for a nice inexpensive snack, or just to meet and chat with a friend over a coffee & cake.Not a lot of room for buggies and no high chairs or baby changing. Seating is fixed so not a great deal of room for wheelchairs and no disabled toilets, but there are disabled toilets and baby changing in a store nearby.Also do takeaway, and are a regular baker with occasion cakes made to order.

As a family, we have visited both branches of Heils in Lowestoft for many years - occasionally the larger one near Poundstretcher, but predominately the smaller Masons shop in the 'old' high street, past the Triangle Market (58 High Street, NR32 1JA). The service is always polite and helpful, with a good selection to choose from. Hot food is served until early afternoon during the week; the meals are always both generous and delicious. We also visit Masons regularly for bread, pies/pasties and cakes. Our favourites include the muffins and chocolate ginger cake!

Always go to Heils when in town. Food always freshly baked and prepared. Superb value and excellent staff always polite and friendly

Recently stopped here for a mid afternoon snack so opted for pots of tea and scones. Were so nice I had seconds and my wife had a delicious cake. Take away and cafe were both busy. Vast offering of foods to eat in at very reasonable prices.. Most varied baked goods I have ever seen in a high street shop. Will definitely go again every time we go to Lowestoft.

I go to Lowestoft with my job. I do not get up there a lot, more is the pity, but when I do, not only is there a welcome from colleagues, but I really enjoy going to this gem in Lowestoft. A fantastic local bakery, where bread, cakes etc to purchase to take out are very tasty, but the big plus is that they have a café on site. Wonderful service, very reasonably priced, great atmosphere, and everything freshly cooked. Today I had a milky coffee, and tomatoes (fresh and grilled) on toast for the grand sum of £2.80! I cannot recommend this place highly enough
