Eight of us went today for afternoon tea and to say it was exceptional is an understatement. The food was so fresh and absolutely delicious, you can’t even see it all in the photo and when we’d finished that they then brought out the cakes! so much of it that we ended up bringing quite a bit home so that was our tea sorted! The staff are wonderful, despite the fact they had been very busy nothing was too much trouble for them and they really made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be going back on a regular basis.

I have been passed quite a few times with freinds about 3.30 on a sunday or even on a week day you have not been open . I have been stopped on quite a few occasions asking if I know when you are open. there is quite a lot of people this time of the year out for a stroll up until 6ish and would like a quiet cuppa away from all the hustle and bustle of amusements. Shutting this time of the year seems rather silly as they say make hay while the sun shines. Also there is quite a few people playing bowls in the evening and others playing tennis I am sure they would like some refreshments

The devil is in the detail...visited with family members on a lunchtime. Lovely location, sweet decor, nice atmosphere. Nice staff. The little things mean I wouldn't rush back. By 1pm...on a beautiful day...had run out of tea cakes, bar one, and scones...' because the bowlers are in, in the morning '. This is a regular thing so no surprise or special event. Surely it would be worth a bit of wastage on such a cheap product with a big mark up. Oddly the person being served just behind, who ordered a teacake, had their order accepted. As a group, we decided to share what was offered...one tea cake and crumpets. The devil was sadly in the detail because... I really don't want someone else spreading the butter and jam on my crumpet/ teacake! They arrived all squashed up...like I'd do for myself at home! Crumpet soggy and not toasted. Latte ordered was lovely and hot ( a great quality for a change), but due to being topped up from a kettle. Just an average coffee, like at home. Constructive criticism: Buy some little paper/ ceramic pots for butter and jam..it would be worth the additional charge. Couldn't you freeze your scones and crumpets so you don't run out? They surely are the most popular order. Even just a few as back up. Your little cafe could be a gold mine!

Set in a lovely park opposite the bowls area with short opening hours (locked-up by 4pm) this is an oasis at this end of town, for a simple cafe menu. The owner (Mark, in the kitchen) appears dour but his young front-of-house staff are always cheerful, efficient and helpful. If you have difficulties, they will always serve your drinks outside and food is all cooked from scratch. A few fish cream single cakes adorn the counter which are around £1 along with a pot of tea for £1 (Jul.15) so exceptionally good value. Hot ciabatta rolls and fry-ups are all good.

I was really shocked by the rudeness of the person who served me today. I needed an itemised receipt because I can claim back through the company I work for.Unfortunately an itemised receipt is not available so I asked the lady to write the 2 milkshakes and 2 cakes and the price on the back of the receipt. She snatched the card receipt out of my hand, clearly annoyed at my request and scribbled my order on the back with no price details.
