I had the pleasure of experiencing afternoon tea at Mrs Salisbury’s Famous Tea Rooms, and it was nothing short of amazing! The highlight was enjoying it inside the beautifully converted ski gondola, which added such a unique and cozy atmosphere to the occasion. The gondola was tastefully decorated, making it feel both charming and intimate. The afternoon tea itself was exceptional. The selection of sandwiches was fresh and flavorful, the scones were warm and perfectly baked (with plenty of clotted cream and jam, of course!), and the array of cakes and sweet treats was a delight to the senses. Everything was presented beautifully, and you could tell real care went into every detail. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even more special. If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary with impeccable food and service, I highly recommend visiting Mrs Salisbury’s and booking the gondola experience. It’s a treat you won’t forget!

What a lovely little find! We were going to go elsewhere, but Essex Highways decided to close off most of the roads out of the Dengie on the same day and roads out were chaos! We actually live in a nearby village and had seen the signs to Manor House, but had never been. Relaxing decor, wonderful welcome and service. Food was great (recommend the smoked salmon bagel) and didn’t have to wait long. Lovely friendly lasses working there, homemade cakes and bread pudding , clean and welcoming….What’s not to like?

Can never fault them. Always friendly and always consistent with their food. And I've tried a handful of different things from their menu. If you haven't tried their new menu, you have to try their smoothies. Their mango smoothie tastes like summer and is my new addiction.I often get their stuff to take away and am never disappointed

If there’s one thing I know from my first-class days, it’s how to spot top-tier service and great food—and the tapas evening at Cap & Feathers in Tillingham did not disappoint. Four of us touched down for a night of food and fun, and we were in for a treat! Every table was packed, and yet the service was smooth, with friendly staff and that fire roaring away, adding the perfect cosy touch. Now, onto the food: prawns, chilli chicken, beef, and a paella that made us want to stay grounded for more. Those dishes were the stars of the night, bursting with flavour and seriously good value. It’s not every day you find a menu that matches the quality you’d expect at 35,000 feet! A special shout-out to Dave, the chef, who came out for a chat, making sure everything hit the spot. It’s those personal touches that make all the difference. And with the music and buzzing atmosphere, it felt like a full-on fiesta—no turbulence here! Honestly, it was an evening where everything came together perfectly—great food, great company, and even better service. I’ll definitely be booking another seat at this culinary flight!

Donna and her team make the best poached eggs on toast in town. The coffee is delicious, with hot milk, and you’re offered a top-up just at the right time. Best of all is the atmosphere, with cherry music playing, the friendly chat and listening ear, and being looked after by lovely, genuine people. Donna is moving on to focus on her catering business ‘Newman’s’ (on Facebook) I wish her luck. She and her team made this the best cafe in town, and made a real difference to Maldon.

The food is very good here. Always fresh and tasty. The deserts are my favourite here. All home made. Have to book in advance as it is very busy. Very old pub with it's own parking for about 10 vehicles in a country setting.

A lovely little pub off the beaten track. A nice welcome from the landlady and a superbly kept pint of Abbot Ale. Lots of cat memorabilia around the old wooden beamed pub. A great find!

I went to Munchies for the first time yesterday based on a recommendation by a friend. Free parking is available before the barrier to the car park, it has a sign that says free parking for munchies customers. They have table and bench seating outside as well as a cabin with seating inside. Both with lovely views over the marina. The ladies who run it are very friendly and very nice. The menu is vast. Evening from breakfast to brunch to lunch to dinner. It’s good old fashioned English food. We went at lunchtime I had a ham & cheese roll with chips and my partner had a toastie. We both shared the salt and pepper chicken (which I highly recommend) the prices are good under £10 each for food and a drink. This is a great place to go, have some food and sit at the water’s edge and watch the world go by, they have a great children’s menu too.

Discovered this pub by chance a week ago when walking a local circular hike in the area. We called to see if they had a table and unfortunately they were fully booked. At the end of the hike we popped in for a drink. The pub is geared up for food mostly on Sundays, but the team were so accommodating and welcomed us to sit at the bar. The atmosphere was lovely - very traditional country pub vibes - with the staff knowing most customers by name. The team were so kind and accomodating, they even managed to squeeze us in for a Sunday Roast which we were so grateful for after our hike. Food was delicious, service was great and everyone was so friendly! We will be back!
