very nice a welcome pub ...the only downful is the wine selection isn't to good thats only my opinion....the staff are very welcoming never have to wait long for a drink and the owner nothing is to much for him

An old fashioned pub in this quiet village . Good atmosphere and great music . Will go again. Beer garden is superb. Live afternoon music by the Monkies Wedding was fabulous! Will check out other bands .

Landlord fitted us in at last minute for a lovely Sunday dinner and made sure all of our family well looked after. Great British pub atmosphere, and everyone was friendly and in good spirits. Have booked to go back again already. Great example of what a pub should be.

Brilliant, friendly pub with great staff

My husband and I visited the Kings Head for Sunday lunch. Plenty of parking, the pub itself is a really interesting old building, spotlessly clean. A very warm welcome from both the staff and locals. Sunday lunch was perfect, old school roast potatoes, plenty of beef and gravy and fantastic cauliflower cheese. A lovely chilled out Sunday lunch, will definitely be visiting again.

Good food and lovely service A lot of noise tho (then again, if you want a silent place, a pub is not the place you should consider 😅). I'll most likely come back! Ps the dog was the star for me 🐕😍😍

Having planned to take our 90-year old aunt out for lunch but finding her favourite cafe closed and nothing else open in Southminster (on a Saturday lunchtime….), we decided on The Kings Head. At first we were a little wary, especially as it turned out to be a match day and the pub was full of footy fans. But the welcome we received from staff and customers was so warm and friendly, accommodating our aunt’s wheelchair, and the excellent food made it a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. We would definitely recommend it.

Had a meal hear yesterday "WONDERFUL" food, staff, owner and his dog was outstanding, keep up the good work, we need more pub like yours.

We popped in for a meal on our way home from steeple Bay and it was not a good experience after waiting for an hour they had burnt the jacket potatoes and by the time we had solected a replacement it was all cold and some over cooked we did say at the end of the meal and was offered an apology, we won't be going back.

We went there as it had been recommended and we did find it a very nice pub. We watched the rugby. The staff were very helpful setting it up for us. We ate there too and the food was very nice. I would definitely return.

Visited on Saturday morning with the family for breakfast which was very good. Everyone enjoyed their freshly prepared breakfast which was made with local produce I believe. Portions were generous and offered good value for money. Staff were friendly and there is a large outdoor seating area for when the British weather plays ball. Great to have a local pub like this.

Absolutely rubbish. We turned up and the man was extremely rude and told us there was no room even though there were many empty tables. All the people sat drinking were staring at us. No one was socially distanced and I've reported them to the police.

We had a great time me and my partner Steve have just moved at Southminster and was the first place we have been after lockdown the pub owner could not have done anything more for us ... we loved it and so did my mum and brother ❤... it was so lovely to find somewhere so welcome and everyone just so friendly different be coming back again. Thanks you for make us feel so welcome and at home.

Called in for quick pint, lovely service and beer was very tasty. 1st time in the pub but noticed the food being served and looked very appetizing also large portions. Was a pity we had not long eaten elsewhere. 👍👌

Probably the best breakfast on the Dengie, with a really nice courtyard seating area. Full English breakfast cooked to perfection. Highly recommended

Great atmosphere with a decently sized and well decorated outdoor area. Staff are friendly and the bar is well stocked. The venue also has a modern digital jukebox to play music from! Overall, a really nice place.

On holiday a few mikes away and popped in whilst doing some laundry down the road. The barmaid was very welcoming and happy to chat. The outside area very comfortable, but the most important thing for me was that the Guinness was excellent... so good in fact we went back a couple of days later and it was still great! Thoroughly recommend

Beautiful gem in the heart of the village. Enclosed walled garden but with a view of the church. They've spent the last couple of years improving the pub, inside and out and it's all very tastefully done, classic and with very pretty gardens. Perfectly cooked and reasonably priced food too!

The bar staff where polite and knowledgeable, dogs were allowed which was a bonus. The food was good. We had the Vegetarian Tart and The Sausage, mash and onion gravy. Both extremely nice a fairly priced.

We went on a Saturday lunch time 5 adults and 1 child and a dog lovely garden to sit in the staff even brought a bowl of water for the dog service was excellent and the the food was great the portions are huge

I visit once a year from Australia and always find this place extremely friendly with good service. The owners have made some great improvements to the facilities including a child friendly area and outside screen and bar. See you next year!

My husband, myself and friends have visited many times and EVERY time the pub is presented as spotless, friendly, welcoming and a pleasure to visit. All meals are very good, best breakfast around. Landlord Pete and staff are excellent. The rear garden is also a pleasure to visit.

Always a great place to spend time, and looking better now than I've ever known.

We have been coming to the Kings Head since Pete, the Landlord, took over. Staff always friendly, Pete always stops for a chat, great atmosphere and friendly patrons. Not eaten much off the menu, have had the breakfast lots of times, which I think is only available at the weekends, and they are second to none. Yes there is a lot of local competition for breakfasts with a few cafe's and even some of the Burnham restaurants now offering. We have probably tried most, The Kings Head breakfast beats them all. Quality produce, piping hot, very flexible as to what you want and also very reasonable, seriously great food. My only small request would be, is for a proper espresso or filter coffee option for coffee lovers. So if you want pop in for a swift after work, or a night out on a Friday or Saturday, or family breakfast in the morning........... .......The Kings Head has it all !

We often go here with our neighbours, for a catch up and get together, lovely pub with a beautiful courtyard garden. The landlord Pete, has put a lot of work into making this pub the best in southminster, always busy at weekends with music and D.J, the food is lovely big portions and all home cooked, the roast is delicious. Pete has put so much effort and hard work into this village pub, a nice guy always has a chat with his customers, can’t fault this place at all well done Pete you have done well xx
