The Waffle Bar in Maldon

We nipped in yesterday but even though they were just about to close (it was 4pm and we hadn't realised) they still took our order and served us. We had three lovely waffles. Really welcoming service and so grateful that they stayed open for us as the kids really enjoyed it. Lovely little place as well.

Every time I'm in Maldon I always go to the Waffle bar for a coffee waffle and toasty always good and great staff

I was disappointed with the establishment full of dust and cob webs everywhere. The waffles tasted ok but was cold. Also message for families it is very expensive. I think you need to deep clean the place for the prices you charge. It’s about the experience of the customer visit. The lady who served us kept forcing customers to sit in the the back was off putting included ourselves. I felt it was not great value for money. I saw you coming is a quote I would describe this place.

What a lovely friendly little gem of a find. Was out on the motorbike and had a fancy for some ice cream. On arrival a wonderful warm welcome by owners. Service was fast and 5 star. Had unicorn rainbow sundae and Eton mess waffle....wow! Quality fantastic and fresh....the waffle the lightest ever had. Good value and definitely tasty....looking forward to a return trip 👍🏾

What a way to spend your birthday as a child. Sugar levels off the charts in so many delicious ways. Would recommend taking your youngsters to this place as a treat as the food was marvellous. The staff were courteous, pleasant and friendly. The prices were good (except the wafer cones, but you need to visit to understand this) and the serving plentiful.

Vegan menu!! Well done guys, indulgent and ethical. We’d like some more variety on the sandwiches as they looked great but none of us eat cheese (vegan menu) the waffles looked great; tasted great with fresh strawberries and blueberries, the service impeccable and well worth the trip Thanks guys 💚

Repeat visit. Nothing changes food and staff as excellent as ever. Wish we could go more often. Book if you can as not many spaces.

Delicious food and milkshakes. Really pleasant place to eat despite being on the pricier side although I think it's justified. Small café, very pretty and lovely staff though can feel a little crowded and overstimulating if busy.

Lovely little place serving desserts to die for! If you love waffles, pancakes and milkshakes then you'll enjoy this little shop on Maldon's high street. I had a Christmas special, White chocolate biscoff waffle with ice cream.

Lovely food, friendly staff, historical building

Me and my partner went to The Waffle Bar Tuesday morning. The man who served us was very nice and we were made to feel very comfortable. We order a maple bacon waffle (they piled the bacon up high) and a customised waffle at a good price of around £16 and a nice pot of tea. We will be coming back again!

Sausage and onion relish toastie followed with Ferrero Roche waffle. Excellent lunch and excellent service.

This place is a real gem of a find and I’m so pleased we went. The cheese and ham toastie was delicious and the waffles & ice creams we all had were all of high quality and made with love. You can tell that no expense is spared when it comes to their ingredients which all adds to the overall taste of everything we tried. Will certainly be back next time we’re in Maldon as they were lovely people to dine with.

I had the loveliest brunch at The Waffle Bar. The waffles were cooked to perfection, and the toppings selection was incredible. It was absolutely delicious! The service was so friendly and happy to answer any and all questions. I can’t wait to come back!

Great find with unusual food offerings

What a cute little find for a different Afternoon Tea! The staff were very attentive and helpful (when wanting to change a sandwich filling last Minute) The sandwiches were full and fresh and the rest of the food was just amazing and so worth the money. Will be making a return visit very soon!

What a darling place to have brunch. My friend has been before and recommended that we both go together to celebrate our birthdays with a brunch. I’m a massive fan of all things Brunch and so was very much looking forward to my visit. From the first glance at this cute restaurant you can tell you’re in for a tasty time. Baby pink and floral. Excellent. I decided on an Oat Milk Latte and Poached eggs with Salmon, Avocado and Halloumi. Well the first thing I noticed is how pretty the cutlery and crockery was. Gold cutlery and pink plates. The food was cooked perfectly. Runny poached eggs (which is a must), fresh salmon and tasty avocado. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is perfect for a weekday brunch. I will definitely be back. I want to try more tasty dishes.

Had a gorgeous afternoon tea for mother's day, sandwichs, scones, waffles and a lovely variety of teas to choose from thank you waffle bar mum really enjoyed it.Staff are amazing.100%recommend.

Booked a last minute table for 6 today for my sons birthday and what a treat he had! We all had waffles and milkshakes and they were made beautifully and tasted amazing, we had a lovely time and were very well looked after, would highly recommend

Service wasn’t the best . It took about 40 mins for my girlfriend to get her good and drink , turns out they forgot about the order ….. will not be going back any time soon . Many other customers weren’t satisfied too ..food was nice though

I love the Waffle bar, the staff are friendly and I love the fact that they do gluten free waffles. This is a game changer for me. It's such a lovely little place and I would recommend it to anyone. If your thinking of going then do it, you won't be disappointed. 😊

So sorry this review has been a long time coming as I have been here 3 times now! First time I came here with some girlfriends and we have an absolutely indulgent treat. I have a terrys chocolate orange that you can see in the picture. What I really love about this place that sets itself apart from other waffle places is the fact that it does also cater to people who don't always have a sweet tooth such as my husband who usually goes for their lovely toasties. Food is absolutely divine, really good price for what you get. Friendly service and never had to wait long here. Would highly recommend!

10/10! - number one recommendation is the toasted sandwiches! great value for the taste and quality. also comes with a side of crisps and salad. i’ve tried a whole variety of fillings and none disappoint. - waffles are delicious, i would say better than the pancakes. - milkshakes are huge and have lots of toppings / whipped cream. paper straws are a bonus for the environment. can be sickly though if you have too much! - afternoon tea is amazing here ! great value for the quantity you get. Lots of selection including mini waffles and toasted sandwiches (of your choice). bottomless tea! definitely wouldn’t recommend anywhere else for afternoon tea.

Very small but thats to be expected and also great food

The waffles were nice, however we felt like we’re a burden to the owner as she wasn’t overly friendly. We had to keep asking for simple things like cutlery, or to even order. Then she would speak to the waitress about our bill, orders etc like we wasn’t there. Felt quite unprofessional. However the waffles were good and the kids enjoyed it.

Today got to experience true customer service, the staff were great, really nice words given to me and my colleague who worked for the Ambulance service and popped in on our lunch break. The waffles were amazing, full of flavour, and certainly will come back when next in Maldon.

A wonderful little waffle bar! We had a valentines lunch here and enjoyed every part of it. The waffles were delicious and there were so many types to choose from. The milkshakes were amazing. Would highly recommend and will be going back!

Had a takeaway Afternoon Tea for my mum's lockdown birthday in February and it was amazing. Sandwiches , cupcakes, waffles was all delicious. I would highly recommend. All staff was lovely and was easy to book in. Thank you very much. Already looking to order again for another birthday in April.

Treated ourselves to savoury and sweet waffles today. Bacon, brie and cranberry one was soo delicious and the apple crumble waffle was super tasty. Great service and outstanding food, what a treat.

We popped in here the Saturday after New Years for a take away lunch to sit at the prom and eat. We ordered a rolo milkshake which tasted amazing. A hot chocolate with cream on top and some toasties which all came with salad crisps and coleslaw. Very friendly lady who served us and really good food. So if your in the maldon area or visiting the prom it’s only a short walk up the town on the left. You won’t miss it as it’s pink with flowers out the front. They do a selection of milkshakes, hot drinks, toasties and sandwiches and of course waffles and freshly made cakes. Would highly recommend. Especially a treat after a lockdown walk.

I visited The Waffle Bar today and wow, the After Eight hot chocolate and waffle was amazing. The decor inside is beautiful and the lady serving was very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in Maldon!

Brilliant food and service! Popped in with my friend yesterday. Food was delicious and presented well, and prices were really good compared to other places who offer the same.The ladies were also very friendly and made an effort to chat to us! Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to visit again!

We found the booking process confusing however managed to get there in the end. The owner asked us to sit outside however the man on the phone during booking said we could sit inside, this was sorted however another customer was then put out which was a bit uncomfortable.The shop was very small.The food was superb! Great for those with dairy or gluten allergies. The young waitress was very polite and happy.Would return if local to the area.

We visited today with my 2 children who both have intolerances. The staff here were fantastic and Went above and beyond to make sure both children had what they wanted. The place was spotless and food delicious. This really is a must! Thank you

We went for brunch yesterday for my daughters birthday. It’s our 2nd visit as we live out of town. Lovely friendly service, waffles and shakes were fantastic . Highly recommend.. no bookings taken so may need to wait, but we’ve always timed it perfectly for a table.

Visited on a cold, wet day with my adult daughter. What a charming little place! The staff were so welcoming. We stepped into a warm, spotlessly clean and comfortable place. We were undecided on what to have, there were lots of lovely waffles, crepes & sundaes to choose from. I had a chocolate orange waffle which was delicious, I'm glad I asked the lady serving us to help me choose. My daughter had a brownie sundae, there was a choice of homemade 3 different homemade brownies. She really enjoyed it.I overheard the staff telling a customer that a number of their products were gluten free which is always a bonus when going out with some of my friends.I thought it was good value for money, friendly service and a lovely relaxed setting.

Delicious waffles and all other food and drinks we saw looked awesome. The gluten free waffle maker was being repaired but they cleaned another one for me and the waffle was delicious. The waitress (possibly the owner) didn’t fill me with confidence about her gluten free knowledge as she kept asking if I could have soy milk etc. However, despite being very sensitive to gluten, everything was fine. Thoroughly enjoyable and would definitely go back.

Booked Birthday celebrations at The Waffle Bar in Maldon for my daughter's 12th birthday...the quality and presentation of the food was extremely good and the service outstanding. Beautiful quality and wonderful selection of cakes and desserts. The staff were extremely helpful and obliging.. nothing was too much trouble I would most certainly recommend this wonderful little place for afternoon tea,cakes, waffles and fantastic service. Brilliant.

Our second trip to the Waffle Bar as a threesome and not disappointed!Children love the variety, staff are very accommodating and even provided some colouring bits for them.I have reviewed previously and was a five star review and so is this one!Thankyou so much, we will be back again soon!

What a place! Whole family went and were catered for different dietary requirements, food preferences and meal types - deserts, shakes, toastie - it was all absolutely gorgeous what a hidden gem of a place in Maldon!! Our waitress who I believe was called Amy was so helpful and lovely and really attentive especially as there was a few of us!! We will definitely be back!

Visited The Waffle Bar with the family, never been before but would definitely go again. Large selection of waffles, crepes and shakes, all served by very friendly and helpful staff. Cosy and welcoming surroundings and excellent food made for a very enjoyable visit. We will be back.

Decided to make an impromptu visit after having driven passed on several occasions and cannot fault!An eight, seven and forty something decided to partake in a waffle and milkshake each and from the service, to the amazing food, it could not have been any better!We will definately be back with friends again soon!

We had heard about the waffle bar after reading a post about the best cafes in Essex. So on a Sunday afternoon what is a girl to do.... I dragged the hubby for a walk along Maldon prom before heading into town and to purchase some amazing food.

Me and my other half visited the waffle bar today and wow was we pleasantly surprised. Amazing staff and the food, well the waffles are to die for! We also had a toasty which was delicious too. Highly recommend and we will be going back very soon xx

Just stopped here for a bite to eat food was lovely. Had the toasted sandwiches which came with really nice coleslaw. The desserts looked amazing will come back for that next time.

I visit The waffle bar every wednesday with my mum. We wont go to any other establishment in the highstreet anymore after eating here.

Visited as a family for a sweet treat and it was delicious. My little boy had a kids milkshake and we had a freak shake. The service was excellent and very child friendly. The small gesture of giving him his own bowl of mini marshmallows so he stopped stealing mine was very appreciated! We are looking forward to another trip to try the waffles. Really recommend this place.

What a lovely place! Having visited the escape rooms with my daughters and her friends, I wanted to go somewhere after for some milkshakes and to hopefully do my daughter's birthday cake! We arrived but i hadn't realised they closed at 4 (it was a Sunday) We arrived at 3:45, but the lovely owners welcomed us in and stayed open longer for us. We ordered milkshakes which were delicious and after the owner set up my daughter's birthday cake and brought out her cake singing happy birthday. She even added a sparkler to the cake! I can't thank them enough. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cosy. I highly recommend it and will definitely return when I'm back in a Maldon to sample more of the menu. We went there for a waffle after we saw on internet they have gluten free waffle...we met there wonderful people who made us feel so welcome. The waffles were delicious and you can find there everything for gluten free and lactose free diet as well. Definitely this will be our place for desserts!

On many occasions I have gone passed and thought no dont fancy waffles but so glad we have tried it now. Its fantastic! The waffles are delicious and so much choice. Today we had toasted sandwiches which were very tasty and well presented with salad garnish, coleslaw and crisps. The service is excellant. This is a lovely cosy and friendly place to go. Popped in with wife and number 2 son, I can honestly say by far and away the best waffles I have ever eaten. We ordered the oreo waffle for the boy, strawberry waffle with maple syrup for the wife and banoffee crepe for me.... All were beyond sublime... Will find an excuse to return soon, even if I have to go on my own!

I used to visit regularly with family when it was owned by previous management.

Heard about this place from other gluten free people and was excited to give it a go! However after eating a waffle here which I was told was gluten free...and I'm now suffering. Do not trust that your allergies will be catered for.

The food and drink were beyond amazing not mention Tasha gave us the Best service we had ever received. 10/10 would highly recommend

My 11 year old daughter's eyes lit up when she saw this cafe - waffles and crepes and milkshake (freakshake!) heaven! Her nutella crepe and strawberry waffle were excellent. The adults enjoyed a savoury first course (generous sandwiches with a lovely salad garnish, coleslaw and crisps) and shared a delicious banoffee waffle for pudding. We were served by two very friendly and helpful ladies and the food came very quickly, despite lots of people arriving while we were there. From the menu, I thought some of the waffles and freakshakes seemed a little pricey - but when I saw them coming out I could see how much was in them - they were spectacular! Really great little find - what a treat!

The Waffle House is a lovely little gem! The milkshakes are very tasty and the food is delicious! The waffles were clearly freshly made, and with the range on offer, everyone should be able to find something that excites their taste buds! The atmosphere is friendly and warm, and after my breakfast waffle and caramel milkshake, I will most definitely be going back again and again! The young guy that served us was fantastic! He was very helpful and friendly, always had a smile on his face and nothin was too much trouble! A real asset to this business. Our visit cheered up an otherwise set and windy Sunday afternoon, thanks guys!

Came to the waffle bar for the first time on a Sunday half hour before closing. The two lady staff in there were really welcoming even tho the shop was closing soon. I follow the waffle bar on Facebook and have seen how good the waffles and shakes looked so gave it a try. Absolutely spanking mega tasty. I had the Belgium choc waffles with vanilla ice cream 10 outa 10 from me.

We found this gem on maldon high street the owners are really nice the waffoand Crepes are delicious all freshly made to order and so many to choose from a nice touch was too ups on the filter coffee will definitely come back

Had a delicious Belgian waffle here, with plenty of options for toppings. I had the Belgian dream, which had strawberries, Belgian Chicano Chantilly cream on. Very tasty, and a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Gluten Free crepes are available too. They also cater for dairy free. We will be back.

We wandered into The Waffle Bar with absolutely no idea what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. The menu is basically waffles, crepes and milkshakes but the presentation and taste are both excellent. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. One thing to bear in mind is hat it does get busy and can feel cramped. If you are the sort of person who needs lots of space and privacy I would think twice. However, if you can cope with a friendly, informal atmosphere then this is for you.

My daughter had a day off school so I treated her to a trip to the Waffle Bar in Maldon - what a delight! I had a tough time choosing, and one of the staff suggested the waffle with warm cherries and chantilly cream . . . it was absolutely heavenly, and I am busy trying to think up an excuse to go back for another one. My daughter had a scrumptious looking freakshake, and a totally amazing bannoffee waffle, but the warm cherries in warm cherry juice with deliciously thick chantilly on a light, tasty waffle we’re out of this world. What a combination - and than you for the suggestion, I never would have picked it without the recommendation.

We went to the waffle bar last Sunday for lunch, and had a fantastic time. This was our third trip and as usual the food is amazing and the welcome we received from the lovely owners was warm and welcoming. We had a chat with them about various different things, and they are such a lovely couple. We had a variety of freakshakes, waffles, a crepe etc and all were so tasty and beautifully presented. We stopped here on a day out and were delighted with what we ordered; cherry delight, Nutella crepe and Dame Blanche. Exquisite waffles, great environment and atmosphere and top service.

My son and his girlfriend visited on the 26/09/18 and had an enjoyable time. The waffles were great and very filling and the drinks were lovely too! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Price was good! Lots to choose from on the menu so we will definitely be back.

We come today after I have been Stalking the waffle bar on Facebook and seeing the amazing freakshakes! So glad we did we had a lovely time in a lovely setting. The food was amazing and the freakshakes were a favourite among all of us! I don't think I can eat again I ate so much!. The waitress made an effort to talk to my daughter and wish her a happy birthday and were accommodating when I asked if they had candles so we could sing happy birthday and also treated her to a slice of cake (how nice). They even took the time to listen and talk to her when she wondered over to them and started talking at them . Thank you we truly had an amazing time.

We have just visited the waffle bar for my daughters 11th birthday. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We had a selection of sandwiches, loaded and freak shakes and the girls loved it. The shakes always look amazing and taste lovely and the food is very good. They even treated her to a birthday waffle and made her day special. Cannot rate highly enough.

Could not cope with being busy, tables left unwiped. Food slow to come out only ordered beans on toast waited 45 minutes...

After hearing such great things about the The Waffle Bar in Maldon, I thought I’d pop in and see for myself....Wow I’m so glad I did, this is truly a little gem of a place. On entering I was greeted by a very friendly member of staff called Giuseppe, who quickly and efficiently ran through the menu with me. I ordered a fruit tea and waffle. After waiting only a few minutes I was presented with a fabulous treat, the presentation and attention to detail is something one would expect to receive from a high standard restaurant....it was exceptional. And it tasted every bit as good as it looked, the waffle was soft and light on the inside with just the right amount of crispness on the out, the fruits used were sweet and fresh which coupled with the cream and ice cream made this a very special treat. This is a great place to visit and one that I shall be introducing to my friends.
