Food OK but truly appalling service from surly, unfriendly counter staff and half hearted table cleaning by a young lad who didn't appear to want to be there. Three breakfasts took over 45 minutes from order to service. Very expensive for what it is - a greasy spoon - it used to be decent but this will be my last ever visit.

Excellent coffee, flapjack and a friendly chat. I called in whilst out cycling solo and received a lovely welcome 😁 the peanut butter flapjack was excellent highly recommend

Popped in for a coffee and had a slice of their banana & chocolate cake/bread (delicious). Friendly staff, nice vibe and plenty of tables.

The Dukes hosted my daughter's wedding reception...we were all absolutely delighted! They went above and beyond to make sure the day went perfectly! It was a smallish wedding with 60 people and the venue was perfect...intimate and cosy and perfect for a buffet and lots of dancing! The package they provided was brilliant and very good value.. Including accommodation for the bride and groom and some guests...my daughter was also given a quaint little cottage to get ready in! The staff worked so hard and nothing was too much trouble...thanks so much 😘

We chose the big breakfast. The food was served quickly and was hot and delicious. There was plenty of it for us. The toast was amazing and thickly sliced. The tea was served in a mug and saucer, while my husband loved the coffee so much he had three! We then had cherry pie and ice cream. We absolutely loved it. The staff were polite friendly and quick with smiles all around. We noticed regular customers being greeted with great warmth. If we lived in Stevenage we would definitely visit on a regular basis. The tables were lovely and clean, not sticky like some cafes we have been to. We can highly recommend this cafe, with polite and friendly staff, delicious food and first rate cleanliness. It is worth the visit, we loved it.

I had a lovely 2 course lunch. Great value for money. The food was excellent very fresh and beautifully made. Great service. Lovey interiors and a nice atmosphere.

Amazing pub, really different inside and fantastic outdoor space (covered and uncovered), James and the team are so friendly and welcoming.

Today (20/04/25) I and 4 friends have just enjoyed an excellent meal and dessert at The Stag. Everyone enjoyed their individual meals and one couple have not visited the pub for 20 years, but vow to return, if not just for the lumpy bumpy cake. The whole experience was of the highest standard. We will be back.

I love the place and spend a lot of my time there working. Kia and the team are great and the food is superb whether it’s one of the cakes or the more healthier protein yoghurts I have for breakfast. It’s feels good to support a local business too.

Judging by the sausage and bacon, I’m guessing the cook formerly worked in a crematorium…
