Drove over an hour to meet here with friends for dinner on a Monday night. Called ahead to enquire about vegan options and when we got there, the chef had created a full vegan menu with over 6 mains and starters! Really appreciated this service, they went above and beyond and so unusual to find this in pubs . We had the bean chili, mango salad and burger & chips from the vegan choices which were all amazing. Burger was wholefood, home made and really tasty. We felt very welcome and could enjoy a nice evening with other non-vegans (who's meals were also top notch) and didn't feel like we were a nuisance as it's so often the case. Thank you!

Stayed overnight in our motorhome in the car park. Ate dinner first night & breakfast 2nd morning.

After seeing The Dukes on Hotel Inspector revisited we cancelled our other booking elsewhere and booked The Dukes. We were not disappointed. Checked in here for 3 nights to allow our daughter to play at Woburn golf club, (only an easy 9 minutes drive away) Room was well equipped, tea, coffee, milk, mugs, water, glasses. We requested a mini fridge which was brought to us. We ate dinner in the pub each night and were pleased with the selection of freshly prepared food. Chicken and ham pie and brisket burger well recommended. All of the staff were professional and made us welcome, a very friendly landlady who is passionate about The Dukes. We would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you sarah for making us welcome

Popped into The Dukes every evening from Thursday to Sunday whilst staying locally. The pub area is comfortable, quaint and historical. All the staff encountered were extremely friendly, professional and extremely patient with us and our rescue dog who barks incessantly in new places. We were able to work on his nervousness and he soon settled down.

Ok pub. Very fast table service for drinks during the England game, staff were right on keeping drinks served. But that might be because it was worryingly quiet……should be rammed for an England game!

A really lovely classic Sunday lunch, Brisket, roast chicken and cumberland sausages, Beers and a nice reasonably priced Italian Primativo red. Friendly service too.

Went for Sunday Roast. It was absolutely fabulous. More than enough to eat, food was beautifully cooked and presented and hot. Lovely veg to go with and, of course, proper gravy! Service was exceptional we only dealt with a couple of young ones but they were both brilliant. Will return and and bring our friends.

Stayed here 2 nights from a voucher. But had to spend an extra £60 to stay over Saturday. So essentially cost £160, not including breakfast. So not massively cheap considering the quality. Right the room. Number 1. Bed was ridiculously creaky and the pillows lumpy, simply put, they need replacing. The shower was Luke warm at best, and with no shower curtain, the floor was consistently wet. The tatty heater worked but just brought the room down. Just needs some tlc. The pub itself was lovely and tried to book an evening meal, but they had a function on the one night, so went elsewhere. The one morning we had breakfast, which didn't start to 10am. We had a full English and veggy breakfast @ £10 each including tea was very reasonable and cooked very nice.

Stayed here for two nights, and both nights ate at the pub. The food was amazing! Good portion sizes, and not badly priced for what you get. Good service from all the staff. Would definitely recommend coming here for a drink or food. The pub had a nice atmosphere, and was designed very nice inside.

Stumbled across The Duke’s on a drive… great decision to have lunch. The staff are super friendly and genuinely seem happy in their job. The food is great and nice selection of beers. Will be back next time we are in the area.

First time at The Dukes, decided on the fixed 3 course meal with a pint. Welcomed and seated straight away. Atmolshere was nice. All 3 courses were homemade and really tasty. A 10/10 for me.

Popped in for a meal, we were seated, menu was quite limited, I had the special which was a brisket burger and my partner had the sausage and mash, when the food come out we were shocked at the size of the portions , my burger was luke warm as was my chips, we didn't get asked if everything was okay with our meal until we had nearly finished neither did we get asked if we wanted any sauces. Quite dissapointed as I have been told good things about this pub the the burger was extremely overpriced for what it was as £18.50, I myslef work in a pub and was very dissapointed in the service provided

Just lovely food and excellent service. The Burger was loaded with beautiful brisket beef....pricier than the average burger,; but with perfectly cooked chips an a nice sauce on the side ...worth every penny.

I booked The Dukes after seeing them advertise venue hire. This was perfect for my mums 60th birthday party. All the team were very attentive on arrival. It was decorated brilliantly (I didn't even ask for decorations) and this was done stunningly, with the fairy lights and banners. I ordered the buffet (classic finger buffet, sausages, sausage rolls, chicken skewers, spring rolls) which was amazing. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the food, and it was the perfect amount too with hardly any leftovers. The lad behind the bar was lovely, same as the young girl. We kept asking them to put in certain songs and nothing was too much trouble, even though they were serving behind the bar they were really good, and very quick serving us too. Thank you to Sarah for sorting this for us. Everyone had a brilliant evening.

We stayed at The Dukes for two nights. The accommodation was clean, and had everything we needed. We had dinner there on the first night, the food and service was excellent. We had breakfast on both mornings which was cooked to order. The dukes has a lovely atmosphere and we will definitely stay there again.

Great local with fab staff, beers and wine. The building is wonderfully old and Sara has kept the ambiance of this historic place.

We spent a long weekend at The Dukes for my husbands birthday and had breakfast both mornings as well as Sunday Lunch in the pub. Where do I start .... the pub is only quite small but has real character with a log burner in the middle of the room - we managed to sit on the sofa's near the log burners for drinks and it was so cosy I could have stayed all night. Breakfast is amazing with lots of choice including cereals / yoghurt to start, full english and then croissants as well as coffee/tea throughout perfect to set you up for the day. I'd read reviews before the stay on how good the Sunday Dinners were so booked for that too - and wow it was amazing - I had the beef which just melted in the mouth and my husband had the pork and crackling - the veg all came in side dishes and there was ample and we couldn't fault any of it. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and together with Sarah, the owner, made our stay just perfect!

Came here for Sunday lunch - our waitress was VERY attentive but the waiter looked like he didn’t really want to be there. Sunday dinner was passable ..we were very disappointed. Five small roast potatoes which were very hard.. beef was nice but not enough gravy, cauliflower cheese was good but small bowl containing a few carrot batons, small amount of red cabbage between two people wasn’t enough. Frozen Yorkshire pudding was burnt! . Ginger crumble has very little filling.. It’s rare to leave a pub still hungry after a Sunday roast! Also cutlery very cheap and cheap wine glasses .. sorry we won’t be returning but I wish you well. Unfortunately my own roast dinner is so much better !! We were also overcharged .. desert should have been included in price .£50 for two people is excessive..

My wife and I celebrated my birthday with a meal and drinks at The Dukes. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The food was excellent (we had a starter and mains) and Timothy Taylor Landlord was available via hand pump. The staff were helpful and friendly, and we were greeted by the owner. Overall, a great evening.

The dukes is a lovely place to go because of how good the chips and the nuggets are, i recommend people going here because you would not regret it.

Visited for Sunday lunch with my husband and two children. Had arranged to view the function room which we had provisionally booked for my parents anniversary next month. We had 2 adults roasts and 2 children’s, 3 desserts and a bottle of wine and the bill was £85. We’ve paid similar prices before but the portions were much smaller than expected and food pretty average. The service was a bit slow but friendly. As planned after the meal I asked to see the room. I was told they didn’t have time (there were only 3 tables eating). Considering I had made this trip specifically for this purpose I was very disappointed. I felt now they had got my money they weren’t interested. Won’t be going through with the party booking (which incidentally they couldn’t find in the diary despite email confirmation from Sarah the manager - who was also present at the time we were eating but never spared the time to speak to us). They’ve lost out on business, very strange way to treat a customer! Won’t be returning.

We booked this at last minute as its close to Rushmere park, purely on the basis of the reviews and were more than pleased with our decision. Very welcoming and friendly staff who delt with my fussy requests ( ie to turn music down a bit ) and even checked back to see if it was ok! Then on to the meal which was lovely...particularily the garlic mushroom starters ( a meal in them selves) through to the homemade crumble..all delicious.

I attend several meetings here at the Dukes and I have to say the place is always so welcoming, Sarah is an absolute pleasure and prides herself on your customer satisfaction. All staff are friendly and approachable and I will be speaking to Sarah about using the great facilities to host events! Highly recommend!

The Dukes has a very friendly and inviting atmosphere, Sarah takes pride in making you feel welcome and tended to. The food is fantastic, I have yet to try the puddings! I highly recommend the venue for Business gatherings.

Small group of us meeting up for Christmas. All of us enjoyed our food. Mine was Lamb which I could certainly recommend. Service was friendly and prompt - note Lamb takes 30mins but we were told this beforehand. Good selection of local beers on tap. Good price and a large car park at the rear. Would recommend this place and will be visiting again.

I booked an area of the pub for an all day training event and the attention to detail was great! I was able to deliver the training uninterrupted with fruit, pastries, tea and coffee all provided for a small charge and attentive staff refilled drinks and water on a particularly hot day, even providing a fan for us. The lunch food was good and great value for money. A highly recommended venue for intimate training.

Our son's wedding reception could not have been nicer. The ambiance was a lovely surprise, the decorations and music, the freshly laundered tablecloths and jugs of iced water, charming waiters and personalised delicious food taking account of allergies. A truly excellent venue for a small family wedding.

We were looking for somewhere to have a light lunch and discovered Dukes in Buckingham. The lunch was delicious, and service by Theo was impeccable. It was a real delight to take a break at Dukes!

I had a surprise 40th birthday party for my husband here in March. We had a fantastic night and it was a great party venue for around 40 people. We had our own private area with the bar, a D.J and the buffet food was good and very reasonable. Christian and Sarah were fantastic and very helpful as it was a surprise party, they let me bring a Birthday cake in and cut it for us. Christian made me and my friends Pornstar martinis my favourite cocktail even though it was not on the menu. There are 6 rooms here also which was ideal as all my family members who had to travel were able to stay over. Overall a great fun night had by all. Thank you Dukes we will return soon. Clare

We went to the Dukes yesterday for Mothers day with my Wife and Rosemary/Mother In-law. The restaurant was busy and we enjoyed a pre-drink from the well stocked bar served by the friendly staff

The restaurant was lovely. Low lighting, flowers on the table and a friendly atmosphere made it a joy to dine. I was on business, and we all had a fabulous meal. I had the lamb and it was just perfect. A great evening out, just outside MK.

Our second visit to this superior gastropub. It works as a village pub as well as a restaurant, and I'm glad to say the staff take their beer as seriously as their food. Sunday roasts were great, though the lamb one was a bit pricey. A bright, smart and comfortable conservatory. Nice to see Eton Mess on offer - very nice. Good service.Will visit again soon.

We visited here last night and had a lovely time. Starters- calamari and pate was great, caprese salad was ok but felt like it was missing something, some more balsamic glaze, rocket (greenery) wouldn’t go amiss. Main courses- steaks were amazing and would come back again just for these. Although one wasn’t cooked as asked this was sorted quite promptly. Sausage and mash- sausages were lovely but could’ve done with a bit more mash and peas as quite a small serving. Lamb was nice but the roast potatoes weren’t cooked the best. All in all, a lovely, reasonable meal and would return although there were a few improvements that could be made hence a 4 star

pulled pork & apple baguette was delicious, bread freshly cooked - yummy My friend had a ploughmans which again was very tasty, plenty of cheese & freshly baked baguette, beats a slice of bread which some places offer with a ploughmans.

The Duke's food is a cut above the norm. We have eaten there a few times in the conservatory which is airy and spacious. They have pristine, good quality tablecloths and everything is neat and tidy.

Sad about the beer which had run out , but this omission was made up for by the food,especially the Cumberland sausage-delicious!

The Dukes is always a great place to visit. Number one you can always count on a friendly welcome and sometimes as a women arriving along can be a bit awkward but not at The Dukes. Love the open mic nights and other special events too.

Visited The Dukes today for a drink and we found it very odd. It’s as if the owners don’t know what they want it to be. Is it a pub, is it a restaurant, is it trying to be a Bistro?! Such a shame really as I think it would do well to be a local village pub that does decent beers and bar food. It needs more of a cosy atmosphere too rather than a great expanse of open plan garden furniture. Didn’t really enjoy sitting on conservatory furniture or Michael Jackson blaring out. We were after a light lunch and unfortunately the menu does not cater for that. We ended up leaving and going to another pub down the road which we had never been to before and found that much better. Also a lot busier which is always a good sign. I’m sure if anyone goes for food in the restaurant it’s good but as a pub it’s not working at all. Such a shame as it could be a really nice local place to go for drinks and good pub grub.

Me gustó muchísimo la comida, el trato y el lugar con su chimenea. Muy animado los fines de semana. La parte del comedor es preciosa y muy acogedora con sus ventanales y las vistas pero sobretodo el servicio son gente muy profesional, amable y pendiente de todo al detalle. La parte del pub ofrece cómodos sofás junto a la chimenea y gran variedad de cervezas y todo tipo de bebidas y la carta a un precio muy asequible con comida deliciosa. Recomiendo el Lamb y el Camembert al horno, que es mi favorito y de postre el brownie y el otro de toffe con helado, son una delicia. El fin de semana pudimos ver cómo se llenaba de gente y el ambiente es muy animado. Me ha encantado! Un diez para este restaurante en el que te puedes quedar unos días inolvidables y hacer incluso amigos entre sus clientes.
