Haven’t been to the George for a while Thought we’d try it for lunch today as new proprietors Pretty good Friendly service The salmon mousse and whitebait starters we very nice Emma’s pizza was a fraction under baked for us but tasty My burger was fine - like the idea of the black pudding in it but needed a slab of tomato in there for me Enjoyed it

Myself and my friends had a very tasty lunch in this very warm and friendly pub. Staff here are delightful and today we were served by the lovely Mia. This pub clearly recruits and trains their staff well. Highly recommend this pub!

We were there to celebrate a birthday with family and friends for Sunday Lunch. We were in the room “upstairs “and everything was excellent. The staff were lovely, very helpful and worked really hard to accommodate 23 people. What a lovely venue and thank you.

Visiting family nearby and came here for an evening meal. We all have to say the staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was delicous. Would definitely come back again when in the area.

This is a ‘Must Visit’ pub/restaurant! The service was speedy, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu was varied and interesting and the food was scrumptious! All the food was homemade.

Beautiful pub but not aware it’s a cashless business until we tried to pay…. Sat outside by the smoking area but didn’t stay long unfortunately , staff were hanging around what appeared to be the back of the kitchen area swearing and chatting loudly between each other , seem oblivious they could be heard by customers , judging by the conversation the landlord was on holiday so probably not aware or their fault re the staff , such a shame but we won’t be returning

We went on a Friday evening, the pub was heaving and very hot inside, the atmosphere was buzzing inside, as with how your debit cards will be when you come to pay the bill. One thing we don't like is when places pre-load an automatic 10% service charge to the bill, as to me that is just a con, a pure rip off, why not just pay your staff a decent salary and leave the tips as optional to the customers? We only realised this when we had paid so to late, for the record, does this 10% also apply to bar charges?? For the record, the house burger was mediocre at best and expensive at £18, would we come back, no probably not as was passing through. Personally we thought the pub relied on it's location for it's customer base and not worth the ridiculously high food and drink costs.

We was booked for a lunch date on a beautiful Sunday. Originally the table was booked inside, after an email requesting for an outside table, our request was granted. On arrival we was shown to our lovely table under the canope. We order our drinks, which did flow. Our mains and dessert was outstanding. Sophia our waitress, the runners were very good and attentive, nothing was an issue. I would like to also thank the chefs, it's not easy working in a busy kitchen in this heat. I most definitely will be visiting very soon, hopefully for a second date!! Thank you all once again for an amazing afternoon. 10/10

Amazing! Just had my husbands 70th birthday party here. Cannot recommend it enough. The staff are exceptional. They went above and beyond to make sure everything went well. The food was just brilliant thanks to the excellent chefs. We frequent this pub often and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. Love it here.

We booked for four people for a late Sunday lunch, which I recommend as the restaurant was packed. There is a large carpark to the rear of the property. On arrival we were shown directly to our table, drinks order taken and then given time to study the menu. We order 3 beef and 1 leg of lamb roast which were served with seasonal vegetables and we ordered a cauliflower cheese to share between us. The food arrived piping hot, well presented and was very tasty, the vegetables were not over cooked and there was plenty to go around. The only missing item were roasted parsnips which I enjoy but few establishments serve, although this did not affect the quality of the food. Overall it was a lovely meal and the staff we met were all attentive and friendly.

Disappointing Booked a table for dinner, given a table that wasn't very easy to sit around for just 3 people, felt like we were sitting in a line rather than facing each other. Starters were ok, also ordered a bottle of wine, didn't realisee at time of ordering there were 2 of the same type of wine on the menu, the wine wasn't great but it had been poured so we drank it. We all ordered pizzas, 2 arrived looking undercooked and aneamic, the waitress dropped half of one on the table so had to manhandle it back on the plate. She did offer to remake it, but I declined as it would have meant we were all eating at different times. The 3rd pizza arrived, it stated goats cheese and aubergine on the menu, there wasn't any goats cheese on it. I'm not usually one to complain, but had to ask them to check. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and confirmed there was no goats cheese on it. . He offered to add it onto the pizza which would have been cold by this point or remake a new one. The waitrer offered to take it off the bill which I agreed to I asked for a new one. It arrived with goats cheese this time but also looked under cooked. Could have done with another 30 seconds in the pizza oven. The bill came and I'd been charged for the more expensive bottle of wine, not realising when I'd ordered there were 2 options. They'd not asked at time of ordering which one we'd like, which is unusual, I thought I was paying a particular price but then charged for the more expensive bottle which I thought was rather cheeky. This was resolved when I asked to see the price list again and explained I'd only seen the wine at the top of the list not the one further down and therefore had expected to pay for what I thought I'd ordered. The waiter changed the bill to reflect this, so no harm done. As I said I'm not usually one to complain, but we won't be rushing back anytime soon.

I can't thank The George Inn & its staff enough for great venue to host wonderful wedding reception for my son & his wife. We had the rooms booked out for family & they were so welcoming & filled with kind homely touches.

Efficient, wonderful & attentive service. Fabulous fish & chips. Delicious carrot & walnut cake for afters. Staff very friendly and professional. 5 Stars.

I visited George Inn for dinner from London and to say that the dinner was good is an understatement. The food was so delicious 😋 compliments to the chef. The customer service was great, Jasmine & Thomas served us with a smile and were very professional in attending to us. Thank you so much I look forward to visiting again.

Visited The George for lunch with my mom, dad & sister for my dad's 90th birthday lunch - Friday 19th Jan. From the very first moment, all the staff were welcoming, pleasant, polite & helpful. All the food we ordered was fabulous. I had the vegetarian burger, beet based with a Mexican twist, and it was really very delicious. As was the sticky toffee pudding afterwards! Our waiter was attentive & helpful throughout our lunch and at the end brought out a small cake (we provided) along with candles; and we all sang happy birthday (quietly). Thank you to The George for a wonderful lunch! Highly recommended!

The pub is lovely, food and drinks are very nice. Just two issues, 1) seem unable to serve a pint of real ale, always has an inch of froth collar and 2) do not accept cash. Why?

Lots of new vegetarian options on the menu; the halloumi & mushroom burger, and artichoke & feta pizza with side mixed salad, were both great choices. The food & drinks were served by friendly & efficient staff. A lovely place to spend time with loved ones. We are so lucky to have such a great pub in our village.

Best pie I’ve had for a long while. We popped in whilst walking the Greensands Ridge, which passes close by. The food was very good and the service excellent. We will come back.

We had a really great meal here in the nice restaurant combined with great service. The swordfish and fillet steak dishes were fantastic. We will return.

Visited pub today with a walking party - after a lovely walk around Maulden & had lunch at The George inn. We had a reserved table in the Garden Room which is lovely - even though the pub was very busy the service was excellent - the food very good - evident by everyone’s plate been empty at the end. Definitely recommend this pub

Came for Sunday roast at 5.45 pm not really expecting too much as the kitchen closes at 6 pm on Sunday, and as a rule, last roasts of the day aren’t the best. We were delighted with the duck and chicken roast, gorgeous home made Yorkshire, crispy potatoes and fresh veggies. Well done team ! Front of house staff were lovely - Georgie served us and as always, is friendly, Professional and made sure we had everything we needed.

We stayed a second time here for a family meal and for the Thursday Pub Quiz. The accommodation is clean, comfortable, warm, welcoming, well equipped with a walk-in shower and a relaxing bed to sleep on. It has a Nespresso coffee machine , bottled water and tea making equipment. Also some breakfast items as at present the pub does not do its own breakfast offer. The staff could not be more helpful, thoughtful, welcoming , both at the accommodation procedures and particularly in the pub itself providing top quality service for food and drink. They are to be congratulated on their professionalism as it was a very busy night. The food, the choice and the plates provided from the menu were top class. We all gave it 5 stars for doing exactly what people want from a pub, quality , acceptable pricing and personal service. It is somewhere we will surely return to in the future,

We booked to eat here while staying at nearby Center Parcs. We ate on a Saturday night and there was also a wedding on, so the place was very busy. It took a while for us to get to order, and even longer to wait for our drinks and food. We also had to go looking for someone to take our dessert order and to get the bill. The food itself was good, the drinks were fine but very expensive. Then when we finally got the bill, it already had a 10% service charge added which I dont like, esp as the service was so slow. We just paid it as the staff were doing their best with it being so busy. But there shouldnt be a service charge....the prices here are more than high enough to enable the owners to pay the staff a decent wage. Its clearly just greed on their part.

this pub doesn't accept cash - only knew when we had ordered drinks at the bar - they would only accept exact amount so I had to make the order up to £20 as thats all I had on me! Maybe a larger sign other than the tiny one on the door would have helped. Anyway doesn't matter as I wont be returning to a non inclusive discriminatory establishment!

Last minute lunch with business advisor from out of the area. Able to book table at this really nice restaurant/pub in a lovely location. Good attentive service with decent choice of food - just what we were looking for.

We walked our dog up to the pub on a hot day and popped into the bar for a quick drink before returning home. My son was treating me and had only bought cash out with him, unfortunately we hadn’t realised that they no longer accepted it only cards. As we went to leave the lovely Manageress approached us and told us not to worry stay and have a drink and bring a card to pay when we next pass by, which we did. Wow!!! What a lovely gesture of good will and trust, we truly appreciated it and will be sure to sing The Georges praises and visit again soon. Thank you once again Emma & Henry x

A wonderful village pub, with a great atmosphere & friendly, efficient staff. The menu is varied, with so many delicious options it is difficult to decide. I can recommend any of the vegetarian options. There is large car park, a lovely upstairs party/function room, heated & partially covered outdoor area, outdoor bar & blankets available if the temperature drops. It also has some beautiful bedrooms. The George is a great place to stop if you are walking the Greensand Ridge.

We stayed here bank holiday weekend. the room is very comfy we slept great Howver breakfast was a severe disappointment. When booking somewhere for £100 a night that includes breakfast, we were shocked to receive something as small as a tub of granola with watery yoghurt (had gone watery as had been left on our doorstep for too long with no notification) a banana and an instant coffee in a plastic mug. I appreciate with recent activity of covid that your opening hours have changed. But to not even be told a cooked breakfast wasn't included is severely disappointing. I also have a nut allergy meaning my whole breakfast for £100 a night was a banana. Not impressed and wouldn't stay again due to this reason I'm afraid.

This is our local pub, we live 5 minutes away, we haven't been in since the pandemic, but we wanted to go there to celebrate our friend's 60th. I was shocked to see youngsters not observing social distancing probably because they were full of alcohol. I did not see any local older people their. I realise this is a business and needs to survive, we love the pub its in a fantastic setting and is a great place to go but not at the moment, the youngsters do not care about us older folks. Not happy !

We stayed here overnight with our 2 year old as we were visiting family close by. It didn’t work out too well for us and I don’t think we’d stay again as a family. But... I would definitely recommend for older families or couples who can make use of the food and drink until closing time and then just head to bed.Pros- the room was Modern, well decorated, comfy and I know from experience the food here is very nice. Cons- the accommodation is right by the outside seating area... I think it would have been good to be told that when booking. We did expect some noise but diners were so close! The room was hot with one small window, the day had been warm at mid twenties but god help you if it was a really hot day. There is a ceiling fan but didn’t seem too effective! The toiletries provided looked great but couldn’t really use them as the dispensing pumps had stopped working. Would recommend but only if travelling without young kids... and a fan of it was forecast to be hot!

Had a lovely day here on the off chance of wondering through moulden. The staff were helpful with accommodating us a table. They had live music which was a great atmosphere for us having a drink in the sunshine. the outside bar looked lovely . Overall a great experience and we shall return for food one day! This pub couldn’t do enough for us from booking to asking for the bill everything was A1,We sat in what I would call the conservatory and we had so much space which was required as we had our puppy with us who the staff wouldn’t leave alone Food came allHot and fresh we ordered roast lamb and chicken and a kids fish and chips , the kids meal was one of the best I’ve ever seen and reasonable at £7 which included a dessert All in all I would definitely visit again and would probably book one of there courtyard rooms to stay as they also looked fabulous Thank you

Fantastic Sunday lunch with our dog to celebrate mums 82 birthday. After struggling at Centreparcs to eat inside with our dog, The George was amazing. Such a warm welcome and the staff couldn’t do enough for us or our pooch. Food was lovely especially the sticky toffee pudding.

Lovely place really fresh and modern decor - professional bar staff good range of draught beers although a lot were out when we were there - there was still a good choice of beers left I’d never had before - definitely worth a visit - other bars should take note this is how you run a successfull establishment

Absolute gem tucked away in Maulden yet very close to Bedford, Center Parcs Woburn and Milton Keynes. Beautiful rooms that were spotless, quiet and high end finish everywhere you look. Very comfortable bed and pillows with super linen. Loved that the hand wash and hand cream, shampoo, conditioner and body wash throughout the whole property were in glass bottles and not plastic. (What a fantastic idea). Easy, plentiful parking and the restaurant has fresh cakes, a brilliant seasonal cocktail menu, delicious main food menu that the chefs are only too happy to tailor to your specific needs if you just ask. Tea pigs in the room as well as a nespresso coffee pod machine. Breakfast is delivered to your room using an ingenious post box system and it was delicious. Very peaceful stay and some beautiful circular walks from the door with amazing views. I am just so pleased I’ve found this place as it’s a pleasure to stay here and so close to everything I need to access but with character and taste instead of an anonymous big name chain. The staff are only too happy to help and accommodate any reasonable requests with a smile and an extra mile attitude.

Such a lovely place ! We’ve been 4 times now and just spent the night in there new rooms/lodges ! The decor and vibe of the pub as you walk in is lovely and all the staff are very welcoming and attentive, there’s a crackling wood fire and live music on a Sunday which is perfect when the weather is cold and rainy. We haven’t yet been in the summer but will be back for sure to make most of the outside gin bar and patio! Stand out staff for us we’re Justin (nice beard) Lewis and Freya who looked after us all night! Cheers guys

14 of my friends and family spent the weekend at The George Inn Maulden. The accommodation was fab. The individual rooms are beautifully decorated with small extra touches which made the stay extra special. Beds were very comfortable and one family member commented that they wished they could pack the room to take home with them! 18 of us had breakfast both weekend mornings which was delicious and plentiful. We ate dinner one evening in their upstairs private dining room where again the food we ordered from the main menu was delicious. The service over the whole weekend was excellent. Thank you to The George management and staff for helping make our weekend so special, nothing was too much trouble and we are truly appreciative.

Not the cosy intimate country pub that I expected. It has clearly had a large amount of money spent on it recently so is now large and was extremely busy. All credit to the management for that. We ate in the restaurant and the food can only be described as mediocre standard pub grub and nothing in the least bit special. My wife had sweet potato chilli which she enjoyed. As it was steak night, I ordered a medium rare rump. It came medium to well done and not in the least pink in the middle. It was served with a tomato, a large mushroom, a heap of cress, a small pot of chips and a separate pot of pepper sauce which tasted more like Bisto gravy into which a very large amount of pepper had been added. Not a very exciting meal. When the steak arrived I ordered glass of red wine to go with the steak but it didn't arrive until more than 5 minutes after I had finished eating the steak so I refused to accept it. The manager did come and speak to me very quickly and offered our desserts free of charge for which we were impressed. However the service, although friendly, was a bit spasmodic as they were clearly understaffed. We also stayed the night and our bedroom was in a modern annex behind the pub. The room can only be described as depressing with a ceiling much higher than proportionate to the floor area, black flowery wall paper on one wall and dark furniture. The bed was fairly basic and not particularly comfortable. There was only one very small window with frosted glass so no view outside. There were rows of picnic tables on the grass immediately outside less than 5 metres away. I dread to think what the room would be like in summer as it faces south with little ventilation so could get very hot, although there is a ceiling pan, and potentially noisy drinkers immediately outside until late in the evening. The room however was very clean and had everything that we needed. A cooked breakfast is only available on Saturdays and Sundays. During the week a continental breakfast is placed in a box on the wall immediately outside the room. It consisted of two bottles of orange juice with two paper cups, two plain yogurts in a plastic pots with what can best be described a sweet crunchy sawdust to add to the yogurt and two highly synthetic tasting blueberry bars. Not very sustainable personally or environmentally.I am sorry to say that I certainly won't be staying there again.

Once a month there is a quiz. A very well organised quiz. People don't just turn up for the quiz, they arrive early and eat dinner before the quiz. Waiter service during the quiz means drinks and snacks are at your beck and call. The beer is excellent too.

Enjoyed a splendid lunch last week here in the beautiful village of Maulden and enjoyed 25% off the bill as signed up to their newsletter and the offer was for January and February. A warm welcome with very personable owner and staff, log fire on the go and pleasant ambience.

Hands down the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever enjoyed, pretty much ever... (sorry mum).

I’m a big fan of the George and if people ask me about a decent gastro pub

Beautiful establishment but food could be better. We will try here again in the future because the staff were so friendly. Menu could use a tweak.

I have to say, I do quite like joining this pub for Sunday lunches in the previous year. But News years eve, something completely different and new.

We had to search for a pub in the area as we discovered our usual meeting place was closed. This was an excellent replacement!

Stayed with family over Christmas visiting friends in Ampthill and we booked three rooms in the very splendid purpose built accommodation block which probably had about six rooms. The rooms were clean, very modern with lovely features, TV, ensuite and a comfy bed. Staff were very pleasant and always seeking to please and the breakfast in the pub was fabulous. Highly recommend this pub and accommodation.
