Went to Braintree to look round shops etc., thought we'd try the Bull for lunch, being a Green King pub, have had good experiences in the GK pubs near our home. This time we were totally disappointed, the food was luke warm and very sparse, tried complaining but didn't get anywhere. Won't be going back.

I went here with a good friend of mine and the staff were so lovely and pleasant, greeted with a smile!! :) The tea was lovely, the perfect amount of milk and strength - my lunch was so delicious and popping with flavour! Definitely would recommend the sweet chilli wrap 😊

My friends and I came yesterday evening, I don’t normally write reviews but I was shocked at the standard of the cocktails that I thought I would. I’ll state first that everything else such as the service, was excellent and our food was served promptly. To the management/owners of the Globe Inn, do you think that £10 is the appropriate price for a glass of tepid pre mixed mojito with a few cubes of ice put in? (As pictured) I would’ve been happy, as the £10 I could’ve maybe justified if there was a bit of garnish on the drink to separate it more to feeling like I was just drinking something I’d just spent £1.50 on in the local shop.

The people have no idea how to run a bar or restaurant There is the most basic menus and the food is ok what there is The family children, in law who ever they are just walk to and fro in front of you. There is no control, toys on the floor no dress standard no uniform. Only four stars for health standard which makes you worried. It appears that the Family on a whim thought let’s buy a pub.. There is no management no style no information What a shame the previous people were great and the food was excellent

Popped in for drinks on a sunny Monday, the bar and adjoining rooms were very busy at lunch. Staff were very friendly we sat outside in the garden which is a lovely sun trap. I know that the whole area is now trying to be a lot more upmarket than years ago, £17 odd for a Guinness and wine didn’t tempt us to stay for another unfortunately.

We recently had a 2 night stay. The accommodation was to a high standard and very comfortable. The Spa was a very relaxing experience with attentive staff, accute attention to detail, and immaculately maintained. The restaurant was modern looking and lacked a little in atmosphere. The food however was outstanding! Our evening meal was really first class, both in taste and presentation. The breakfast had a buffet element on top of the usual egg based options, but I have to say, the buffet was exceptional! There were no large trays under baking hot lamps. Instead, small quantities of each selection were replenished frequently and on demand, meaning everything that should be crisp, was crisp, and nothing was soggy. Really impressed. The front of house staff and the behind the scenes hero's were all attentive and combined to make our stay a very pleasant one. I am more than happy to recommend a stay at Kesgrave Hall

The Black Horse had always been a top quality pub dinning experience for me with quality and value but my last visit celebrating a family birthday was disappointing. The mains where of a poor quantity for the price especially the pork belly which for £21+ was poor value, had bigger half portions of pork ribs. The mains fish sea bream was equally disappointing in quantity, one side of a fillet for £21+.
