Amazing food especially for those with allergies. I’m coeliac and lactose intolerant and I had a delicious meal here. The menu is marked with what’s gluten free and their fryer only has gluten free in it so it’s safe! Best fish and chips I’ve had and those onion rings!? Insanely good 😍 couldn’t believe it was all gluten free! Great service too, very welcoming.

Such a lovely pub with lovely people! So welcoming, and a bonus fire! The food was amazing, 100% recommend, and we actually booked a table for the next supper night Thursday whilst there too! They have full vegan options for each supper night menu (even dessert!) And their Sunday menu has a delicious sounding vegan option too!

Wonderful atmosphere and some amazing dishes! We had the Wednesday buffet lunch and tried so many new dishes I wouldn't have elsewhere! Atmosphere was lovely and staff were helpful describing what Elsies do and the plans they have for the future I will be back again soon

Friendly service always, plus good quality Coffee, good, snacks; very nice home made scones and cakes, Having stopped on a Saturday at about closing time for 'take away' scones/cake, I was disappointed to be charged the price for 'consume on the premises'. Why would people do that? Really disappointed as I so far have been a regular customer / supporter.

Des the owner really cares about his pubs and his customers. He's been decorating them all to a high standard during lock down and is currently running a takeaway service in the Compass inn. I had the tagine and it was delicious, even better than the ones I had in Morrocco. Des is always welcoming and friendly

I visited with my mother and my 2 young kids. Kids loved their breakfast baps which seemed to be made with oven bottom muffins which were tasty. I had scrambled eggs on some very hard crunchy sourdough toast with some extra beans and tomato from the add on breakfast menu. My tomato was a quartered salad tomato still fridge cold whereas I would have expected this to be a sliced and cooked / hot tomato. My mum’s poached eggs on sourdough toast was on undercooked toast barely more than bread so wonder if the toaster was turned up when mine was cooked! Didn’t seem to be any salt on the tables just pepper. Cakes were okay but waitress / server didn’t know what one of them was when I asked which I thought was unusual in the current allergy climate. She seemed new and a bit lacking in confidence. Scenery was beautiful and was quite quiet. Think more could be done with the deli but I would visit again.

We visited GWA again a couple of weeks ago for dinner with my family to celebrate a couple of wins for our family. We arrived and it was so cold outside but the pub was warm and welcoming and smelt like a pub if that makes sense? Seated immediately (had a reservation) and shortly after ordered our drinks, waiter was knowledgeable about the drinks/beers offered and was very friendly. Some of the party ordered starters and these arrived quickly and were very hot and yummy, a member of our party wanted to keep some of her starter to go with her main which staff happily allowed Again the staff were great with bringing the mains, which were, as always incredible! Fresh and delicious! When it came to dessert staff made recommendations and helped us choose. When the bill arrived they offered to split it if needed. Amazing food, decent prices (higher end of standard) and ability to do take away if items are left! Will definitely be back again!

We have been visiting the Drunken Duck for months now as a location to have a drink about 1/2 way through a cycle ride. Friendly staff, good beers and get to watch some cricket occasionally. Just watch out for stray balls!

Visited for afternoon teas with my family for Mother's Day. WOW, absolutely gorgeous. All the cakes, scones were so fresh and delicious. Plenty of different sandwiches. The presentation was very pretty too. The place itself is very homely and inviting. Staff were very friendly. A lovely experience could not fault it. Would definitely recommend, great value for money. Will definitely be going back.

Called in for lunch on a Saturday. Booked a table, but no need as lots of space and we sat outside. Never seen a pub with 3 specials boards. I had the salmon filo pie and it was great. Friends had minted lamb pie and fish and chips. All very good. Plenty of parking. Access to garden flat. However access to the bar is down 3 steps with a rail. Access through side door has 1 step up.
