Food, service all good. When asked whereabouts of wheelchair accessible toilet, however, was met with blank stare and told there wasn't one, even though the Google map entry stated there was. Even to access ordinary toilets from the dining area, without going down several steps, you had to exit through the garden door and re-enter through side entrance. Hardly equal opportunities for someone with mobility problems. Thought I would check it out before going with my husband, who uses a wheelchair and glad I did because it would be impossible for him.

Stopped by on a Wednesday evening in June for dinner for the first time with my Hisband & kids. We arrived around 4:45 & a lovely older lady served us our drinks & explained that the kitchen opened at 6pm, but the chef would be happy to serve us as soon as he was in & Switched on. We were happy to wait, it was a nice evening & the garden was lovely. But this is were it all went wrong. The was a loud obnoxious group of 4/5 early 20s in the garden, chatting loudly about drugs, swearing. Even smoking something we could clearly smell it. I couldn't believe it. There was a young female there, who could be clearly heard laughing saying " we can do what I like, I'm the manager, it's my pub" I really couldn't believe it. We didn't stay to see what the food was like. We left. Couldn't believe such beautiful village pub had this going on.

Popped in forDinner on a Thursday evening in June. Arrived at the pub, it was a lovely evening, great car park, lovely outside space. Quite intimidating walking in through the entrance, past a rowdy group of youths who looked like they had been watching the football. The was loud chatter, swearing, talk of drugs. It wasn't a great first impression. We soldiered on though into the restaurant half of the pub. Was greeted by a lovely young waitress, told us to take a seat & she would be right with us. We ordered a Brixworth pate & Squid to start, both nicely presented & tasty. Main courses we had a Salmon Filo pie, very generous & tasty. We also had a Hunters chicken again cooked very well & generous, we finished with a classic Eton mess. All in all the food was lovely just couldn't believe the contrast between the pub & restaurant side. Then too my surprise as I was at the bar paying one of the rowdy people from earlier, interrupted the person serving me, dressed in what looked like their pyjamas &'slippers. Grabbed there tobacco from the bar, shouted to someone else " I'm the boss, I do what I want" swigged there drink & walked off. It put a really sour note on our visit. Surely if your not on shift or dressed appropriately you don't go behind bars & be so rowdy. Not sure I would return again, maybe it was just Euro fever taking over people. All in all a very odd visit.

4 adults, 2 children. Seated quickly by a really pleasant young lady who served us all evening perfectly. We were told no steak and Stilton pies which was disappointing for a Wednesday evening. We all had a main course where the chips were all very pale and soft. The fish, scampi and burger were ok. Desserts, sticky toffee pudding, waffle, chocolate fondant are all bought in and just about ok. No crepes as they had ran out which also tells me they are not made on the premises. Waitress was so polite and attentive.

I popped in today to look at a Sunday lunch menu to check out the vegetarian options. The elderly gentleman behind the bar gave me a copy of all the menus and said they were fully booked that day. I wasn't planning on eating that day. He didn't know what the vegetarian options were and when a couple of regulars came in he totally blanked me and started to pull a pint for them. I mentioned that he hadn't finished serving me. He replied he was having to multi task. I didn't like his attitude or manner and told him I wouldn't be returning. The pub is in need of major refurbishment. The carpet and decor looked dated with maroon painted anaglypta wallpaper that was scuffed in places. I didn't get to see any food as I arrived st 12 noon but I saw enough of the bad service which ensured I would-be returning here anytime!

Is this a genuine hospitalty business or a social club for staff & friends?! I work in hospitality & this was shocking. Walked into the pub & through to the "restaurant" where the bar maid was chatting to her friends, no hello & the friend was in building attire rolling a cigarette behind the bar. Eventually we were noticed & served. It took a lot longer than I expected. After we were served we took a table outside, outside space is nice, then we noticed the same bar maid then sat with customers smoking. Everything about this was far to casual for my liking. The flip flops & short skirt dresses were out of place, this isn't a tiki bar on the beach. We moved inside for dinner the food was actually good pub food. But as we ate the staff (there was more by this point) just carried on the social lives chatting, smoking. At one point a girl who wasn't even working went behind the bar & poured them selves a drink. They could spend less time chatting & more time cleaning the toilets, cobwebs & the scruffy papers all over the bar. I was shocked that this was a pub. There was no hospitality. With so many pubs closing weekly it was sad to see. A massive dose of professionalism needed.

I really don't know where to begin with this review. I thought Fawlty towers was only a tv programme. It all started when we arrived. As soon as we walked in the door the welcome mate was grubby, the floors looked like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. As we entered we could see in the gents toilets, hand towels empty & hanging, tissue all over the floor, mirror all splashed. The Ladies wasn't know better. As we entered the restaurant there were scruffy papers all over the bar, boxes everywhere. It's like they wasn't open. The floors again needed cleaning, cobwebs. Staff with no shoes on, short skirts. Honestly I thought it was a joke. We couldn't believe it. Half of the tables were set up, others empty. We were going to eat but judging by the cleanliness we decided against it. We just had a drink in the garden which was lovely. I really couldn't believe people were eating in this place. We here the chef is well known locally & talented. But we defo wouldn't return without the place being deep celaned. The ambience really needs addressing, flowers, candles. Something to make the toilets feel better. Good luck. Hope Sybil & Basil are going strong.

Visited for Sunday lunch in June. I must admit it was not of an odd experience. When we first arrived it was like the stuff we're surprised they had customers coming in (even though we were booked) there was stuff all over the place & the walk ways a little grubby. We were shown to a table & promptly served drinks. The service was friendly & ok. But not the sort of service you expect these days. It didn't coke across as if they enjoyed there chosen career. It didn't seem like anyone was in charge. Also although it was a hot day we didn't find the chosen staff attire at all appropriate for the hospitality industry. Then we come the food. Prawn cocktail & mushrooms on toast were delicious, beautifully presented. The Sunday luck was even better. The chef really cares about the small things. Red cabbage & Cauli cheese really made it a top Sunday lunch. So overall it was odd. The food didn't much the service, ambience or surroundings. If they bring all of those up to the food standard then it will be special.

Visited for Father's Day. Was very busy, Sunday lunch was exceptional (but we knew would be as we've followed this chef) Pork so tender, Turkey moist. It was so tasty. Desserts didn't disappoint either. There is so much room for improvement on the service feels like staff are just checking off jobs on a list not actually enjoying delivering customer service. Personally don't like looking at service staff in flip flops whilst I'm eating or seeing the staff smoke with customers then coming in to serve me. If the service can live up to the food this place will be a winner.

Nice village pub and restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff. We've eaten here quite regularly since having their take-out food during 'lockdown'. Quite a simple menu but everything is cooked to perfection. I can recommend the beefburger with bacon, chips and slaw. Like I said, quite simple food but it tastes great. Plenty of parking, outside seating for those rare sunny days 😎 If I had to mark it down, the gent’s toilets could do with some attention as the toilet seat was broken and needed to be replaced. That said, great for families or couples. Recommended! 👍

We visited here on a Saturday evening with friends after a recommendation, we arrived in to the bar area and were served drinks whilst warming by the open fire. We moved through to the restaurant and all looked great. When I asked about the Gluten Free menu I was politely told I could have mac n cheese. After double checking with the kitchen, yep Mac n cheese which was actually on the lunch menu not the evening one. I struggled with a starter for GF but others had pate or breaded mushrooms, these were fine but clearly frozen, served with iceburg lettuce and trimmings. The mains were again average I ended up with chicken breast and chips, as did one of my friends. it was just simple and quite boring. The remaining mains again were ok, simple pub grub. Puddings, the crumble was GF apparently, very sweet and tinned fruit. We also had a cheese board which had the main 3 cheeses (cheddar, Stilton and Brie) but nothing out of the ordinary. The place was busy and had a good ambiance and clearly people eat early here. Overall it was ok nothing special. Simple pub grub, limited home made options but the price reflected this.

Nice cosy little pub serving tasty food. Had a lovely steak meal here. It was so nice to have a steak cooked exactly as you asked for it. Medium cooked and full of flavour. Served up with all the trimmings. My husband really enjoyed his medium rare and we both agreed it was the one of the best steak we have had for a long time. Would certainly recommend.

Visited the White Hart on Monday 20th August with my wife and three friends to celebrate 3 60th birthdays, 1 67th, 1 soon to be 65th (me) and my impending retirement. We had a selection of meals from the main courses and 3 of us had dessert, I have to say the service was attentive but unobtrusive and the food we all had was good, plentiful and reasonably priced, only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was one friends first choice of meal was unavailable, other than that a good time was enjoyed by all of us.

Food looked very good, and staff seemed really friendly, and there seemed a real ambiance about the place. But refusing to take any more food orders by 6.50pm on a Thursday evening when the place is half full, smacks a little of Mickey Mouse! There was no explanation offered so I assume this is the norm.

We had an afternoon tea at the ARTea tea rooms. The staff were very friendly and the tea was delicious and plenty of it including sandwiches, cakes, fruit and scones with cream and jam. The place itself was was an old fashioned tea room which we loved. Will definitely go back.
