A lovely atmosphere, really friendly dogs, great welcome and lovely food. Spoilt by the establishment not offering to replace a drink that my husband spilt accidently. Especially when you are paying £10.50 for a large glass of wine which gets spilt accidently, they charge you but no offer of replacing as a compliment. A shame as has put us off reccomending or visiting the area again.

What a beautiful country pub. We stumbled across this place. Sat outside side the front of the pub, so peaceful. They do have a garden with a marquee. The food is absolutely amazingly delicious. Not a large selection which is why I believe it is amazing, all home made. The pizza and quiche are to die for. They do a loyalty card for food. Have returned again and will keep returning.

Wow... what a lovely local gem this is! We turned up mid afternoon on a Sunday with our 'teens' stating 'pint/coke and chips' only, but were tempted by a customers roast beef baguette. Eyes and bellies not in proportion (roast in the oven at home) we proceeded to order 2 x beef sandwich, gravy and roasties platters, some homemade chicken goujions and the bowl of said promised chips to share. Also, amazing Hookey pints and a cola. Well, what a feast, and what amazing value! The beef was rare - just how we like it, but we were given the option of having it cooked more which we declined. Other diners had the full on roast (lamb) and it looked equally fantastic. In this area, you really struggle to get decent quality food at an affordable price. This Carps nailed it. Lovely, quality meat and artisan bread, perfectly cooked and presented and really exceptional value. Hostess was lovely too. Its a small place but that added to the cosy atmosphere. Only regret is not visiting before as its only a few miles away. Lesson learned. The Carps is right up there now on our list of local weekend eateries. Thank you.....we will be back!

Enjoyed some great meals here recently with friends and family. Warm and friendly welcome with the team happy to accommodate requests with the menu. One of our party couldn’t decide between halloumi skewers or chicken so a combination was provided! Another only drinks milk- not a popular beverage for a pub- again, no problem. Lovely, personalised service & the food was delicious. Thank you.

I arrived here late in the evening and the welcoming, friendliness and warmth of the atmosphere was so heartfelt, I felt immediately at at home somewhere I had never been before! I sat at the bar and joined the locals having a drink. The food was so delicious - I had the schnitzel (highly recommend) and it was uniquely combined with sautéed potatoes (healthier option than chips) which I loved and tomatoes! The chef actually served me my food -which was so kind and late at night that’s a marvellous attitude to have for working all’day. I have been so touched by how comfortable and open the locals were and the service from the staff that made me feel so relaxed, refreshed and as if I lived there, I will undoubtedly return. Oh yes & They had two resident dogs that were so fun and friendly - if you like animals and enjoy a homely feel with a touch of mild entertainment, they’re more than happy for the attention and don’t bother you otherwise! Super value for money too!

Went for a drive out to this pub at Lower Boddington as we hadn't been there before. Ended up having Sunday dinner. Food was excellent. Although it was brought out already plated up, we couldn't fault it. Four different vegetables, plenty of gravy, crispy roast potatoes & served piping hot. Thought the £15 per meal was a reasonable price (compared to other pubs in the area) for the quantity provided. Also liked the fact you had the choice of a Sunday roast or the main menu. Would definitely eat here again. My only slight criticism would be that the roast chicken dinner was a chicken breast stuffed with sausage meat (that I was made aware of when ordering), but when it arrived it was also wrapped in smoky bacon: not a problem for me as I really enjoyed it, but had my partner had it, that would have been a problem as there was no mention of smoky bacon & he can't eat any food that is smoked. Fortunately he had chosen the beef roast, so wasn't a problem for us.

We've tried the Christmas Menu for lunch and found it the be excellent. The country soup was thick and wholesome; the prawns in the cocktail starter were of good size and tasty with bread and salad. The Salmon was in a sauce and a filo pastry case - a wonderful change from the traditional turkey - though the latter was also excellent, as was the beef. All served with a half dozen different vegetable and the roast potatoes and roast parsnips! The traditional Christmas pudding and apple pie were of generous size with lashings of custard or ice cream - whatever you prefer! You still have some room? Well, then there's a chese board for the table to share, with coffees and mince mince pies still to follow! Excellent quality and value at £20 per head, only £15 for seniors and children. The roasts were crisp and crunchy and the crackling melted in the mouth. Absolutely wonderful! Then there was a deep bowel of autumn fruits crumble or pie with custard... It’s quite nicely set out and the service was good. Everyone was very nice and attentive. We could not fault the food, however it is a tad too expensive for what you actually get.
