First of all when we walked in wasn’t treated well by a blonde woman who made the impression that us being there was a chore, the food was brought out either well done or under cooked no in between !!! My 80 year old mum felt u comfortable and wanted to leave! Was not impressed 🤬

Chose to meet a relative from the Midlands at this pub with me coming up from Essex. Checked the website which showed that they were doing Food on a Tuesday and rang up a couple of times on the preceding Saturday to make sure but nobody answered the phone. Made the trip naïvely thinking that the website and views on TripAdvisor would indicate a reliable pub. How wrong I was! I was told that there is no food on a Tuesday, it is a very recent move and they have not had time to set up the website but at 12 o’clock on a Saturday they are apparently so busy they do not have time to answer the phone. Yeah, sure… ended up having to eat at a local poxy garden centre

Have relatives in village. Came in here early evening. Maybe a dozen other customers. Friendly welcome. Not too hot or stuffy despite high temperatures outside. Enjoyed a couple of good pints. Other customers drew us into their conversation.Affable bunch. Works well as a village pub and is evidently a social focus.

Service and food was fantastic …… second time we’ve eaten there and it deserves a review …… ideally you need to book in advanced as it gets very busy but the service isn’t affected but this ……. Sunday roast is brilliant and there’s plenty of it with a good range of veggies ……. Only downside is the menu for those who are veggie is very limited indeed …… great place to eat big well done

Came here for a valentines meal, and I must say the food is amazing. Rare steak, cooked to perfection, and the best chips I have ever had! The rest of the dish was equally delightful, and the homemade cheesecake for pudding just topped it all off. Welcoming village pub, with a lovely atmosphere too. Highly recommend 👌

This is a lovely village pub where the staff make you feel particularly welcome. They’ve sorted out the garden so it’s now a large spacious area, great to sit outside in on a sunny day. Inside there’s also lots of space, with different areas and a dedicated room for dining. The food menu isn’t the most extensive and there didn’t appear to be an offering of sandwiches on a Sunday, but all the food we did see looked to be presented well with sizeable portions. It’s got a traditional feel inside and isn’t the most modern of places but everywhere seemed clean at least. They’re putting a lot of care into the place so I’m sure things will improve further to make everything as good as the level of service the staff offer. It’s certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area.

My husband and I stumbled upon this little gem of a pub on Saturday evening. It was really quaint and charming inside. The staff were very welcoming and the locals really friendly. It had a separate dinning room, which was bright, clean and comfortable again full of charm with a stone fire place. The food was wonderful. My husband and I both had a stew which was delicious and served with really interesting and delightful accompaniments, all homemade. We finished our meal off with homemade cheesecake which was really yummy! There was a lady sat opposite us who had ordered a chicken pie, it looked homemade and she said it was really good. We had a lovely evening with wonderful food. I think the chief is very creative and extremely talented.

The parting conversation as we were paying was "will you return?" to which the answer was "only if you improve the service"!! It's sort of unacceptable to wait one and a half hours for a main course meal especially when it's served up with a very small portion of chips! To be fair, we were offered a 25% discount but the evening was already spoilt. A shame considering that the food used to be great a few year's ago with a previous owner of the pub. Maybe it's time to return when the locals drift back in!!!

We used to use this delightful village pub on a very regular basis for many years, however sice the reopening with regret it has not changed for the better. The menu was very disappointing compared with that offered by the previous licencee. Although we resesved a table well in advance we had to wait nearly an hour and a half for the first starter, then a further 30 minutes for our main courses. The chips did not meet expectations as there was only a handful of them and they were cold. I will say in their defence, the the lamb balty was excellent, and we were giver a reasonable discount for our long wait. It is regrettable that this once very popular local village pub has lost its appeal, and with another more welcoming venue with a far better menue very close by, I very much doubt that we will eating at this pub again in the future. Very sad as most villagers had great expectations thor this once popular pub.

It's a local village pub which serves good food and has no pretensions to be otherwise. We went for Christmas lunch for 19 people - always a testing time for a small village pub. I was very pleased - Craig and his team were all helpful and made it all very easy. We had a separate room to ourselves. Comments from the group were instance "the hosts, the chef/cook and waiter all very affable and helpful in producing a very tasty meal. The room we were in created a cosy atmosphere. Well done to all concerned" It also has good accessibility for people in wheelchairs.I'll certainly go back there in the future.

The Cock re-opened on 22nd August, thoroughly good opening night. The garden has been totally re-vamped and the pub itself has been decorated and has been toned down from what the previous owners had put in. The drink is reasonably priced and is served well. Looking forward to the kitchen opening soon, the food in their beforehand was fantastic proper 'pub grub' and I'm sure it will be as good this time too. The new owners have further projects they want to complete to bring this once vibrant village local back to its former glory. I will be visiting this local again very soon.

Went with a group of people and ate in the restaurant area. Food was first class, very tasty and plenty to choose from. They will try to accommodate people's requirements. Staff very friendly, always smiling and very attentive. You can also eat in the bar area and catch all the locals chatting and having a good laugh. Lots of photos etc on the walls, great atmosphere. There are a few steps into the pub from the car park which may be difficult for some people, there is another entrance at the front of the pub too. Credit to the landlord and all his staff, they know their stuff........not forgetting the chef too............only one thing I would say is they could benefit from a larger car park.

We chose this location to meet with some friends as it was roughly equal distance for us to travel. We had never been to this pub before. We all four had Sunday roast.........two beef, one lamb and one mixed roast meats. The roast potatoes were delicious and the variety of vegetables amazing - I think we had five. The Yorkshire puddings were fresh and home made. The puddings too were delicious. The food at this small pub is excellent - it deserves to be successful.

The cock appears to have a good community spirit , a gentleman, sitting at the bar who is clearly a regular was very friendly giving tips for food and general conversation. I do feel that The bar decor is tired and could do with a freshen up . The main courses arrived in about 15 mins and were absolutely fine . Our disappointment came when the deserts came out . Ice cream was simply a couple of scoops from an iceland 99p tub and the cheese and biscuits also lacked anything in the way of imagination ..Address your sweets and you will have scored well with food

Met up with colleagues for a sort of reunion lunch. Menu was in keeping of a country pub with one or two local items such as lamb hamburgers. We all enjoyed the good hearty meal that we chose. For those folks who are city bound, I can recommend a visit to this locale.

The first time I went here I was a little worried by the cafe type menu but that was soon forgotten by the decent food served. I judge a place by the vegetables. Can they cook them well and the answer is yes they can. Popular local place so book or get in early. Good selection with specials as well. Beer selection is good and the landlord can keep his beer to a high standard. Type of village pub you can go back to and never be disappointed by.

We have relatives in the village and visit often. It is well used amiable and a bit of fun. Came first about three years ago for a family wake and the pub did us proud.
