Spent another Sunday lunch time here with family. The food is always good although this time we thought the quality had gone down slightly. The Yorkshires were a bit flat a d dense but we think reheated which is understandable but the service and the friendliness of the staff is amazing. We all had different meat with our roasts and the lamb was the best. The desserts however are awesome. I said in my last review the cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had so ordered again and it didn’t disappoint. I had lemon and my daughter in law had biscotti and both were delicious. I’d like to come on another day to experience the alternative menu to roasts but it’s a lovely relaxed place to eat. Will definitely return.

My son and family moved to the area a while ago so we decided to try this for a Sunday lunch as they could walk and it’s does a roast dinner. The menu looked very good and catered for children too, we have a 3 year old grandson. 3 of us had starters, we all had a 3 meat mixed toast, my grandson had chicken nuggets and we all had a desert. I have to say it was all delicious. 3 of the Yorkshire’s were a tad soft and the beef was a bit dry but it was lovely. The deserts however were off the scale, normally deserts are a bit of a let down but these were amazing. We had bread and butter pudding, a crumble, chocolate brownie and a lemon cheesecake. All absolutely delicious but the lemon cheesecake topped them all and I have to say it was the best cheesecake we’d all had. We complimented them on it as it was amazing. We’ll definitely be returning as the food and staff were brilliant.

I drive past this restaurant almost daily on my way to Gayton but had never had a meal here. After a long day on Wednesday, we decided to call in for dinner We both chose a Greek dish and the meals were exceptional. We love Greek food and Peggotty’s didn’t disappoint. We stayed overnight here in our motor home after calling in advance to book electric hook up. I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff couldn’t do enough to accommodate us, they were very friendly and helpful. Great choice of food to suit all my family’s tastes (12 & 15yrs old children). Lovely beer garden with heat lamps. Locals were friendly too. Overall we had a lovely evening. They recommend us a lovely garden centre close by for breakfast which was a good shout too. Thanks for having us, we’ll see you again next year for the MotoGP!

We so loved our first visit to Peggoty’s, in early June, that we returned. Each time we’ve checked that there’s space for us to park our motorhome; we’ve had really warm welcomes. There is a pretty pub garden and sort of patio area if you want to eat outside. Food is excellent with a mixture of Greek and Indian dishes alongside more familiar pub grub. I simply had to repeat my choice from last time as it was so tasty. Skepaste (sorry re spelling) - chicken gyros on flatbread with roasted cherry tomatoes and red onions, with just the right amount of melted cheese and topped with fries. This was accompanied by really good and thick tzatziki for dipping and dolloping. Himself, didn’t repeat last choice of Indian naan with great spicy topping, he went for a simple roast beef baguette with chips and gravy on the side - all fresh beef meltingly tender. Puddings - my eyes were bigger than my tummy (as my mum used to say) and I chose salted caramel chocolate brownie. This was not an amuse bouche size it was very very large portion, and quite dense; I failed at the first fence. His portion of KitKat cheesecake was a little less in size and definitely lighter and subtle in flavour. What is it about pudding envy seems to happen often. Hey ho. Great meal and we will return as we like the ambience of Peggoty’s and warm welcome from the staff.

A family meal of 10 of us went for Sunday lunch. Interior was terribly dated and had a musty smell. Staff were incompetent and the owner was rude and abrupt after chasing our meal as it had been over an hour since we ordered. Food was hardly edible and tasted like all meat and vegetables were stewed with everything swimming in gravy. As there was 10 of us we pretty much covered all of their very limited menu and not one of us enjoyed the food. I would avoid eating there completely. We certainly will not be returning.

Ordered a chicken Nepalese which was not great, 3pieces of chicken, flavour was ok, ordered with an onion rice, large pieces of uncooked onion and lots and lots of whole cloves which a day later I am regurgitating, really awful. The biryanis was dry and full to the top of cardamom pods, again really perfumery and the vegetable curry accompaniment was bland, free poperdoms were stale also, would never order Indian again there, just go to the Dilraj or the Spice of Bruene they are experts and charge the same price. Even the nan bread was disappointing.

Accomplished, attentive but not over bearing foh. The owner on this lunchtime I believe. Lovely relaxed surroundings. Varied menu which, in other establishments, would be a worry but not here. Starters were a great start.....The four of us ordered mains as diverse as it gets. Moroccan Lamb, a steak, a curry and chicken for the little ‘un and that’s where I did wonder if any of the styles of prep and cooking might be compromised but not a hint....Had to, at this point go for desserts too. Not wanting to embarrass my son I didn’t lick my plate clean but could have quite easily...To finish a wonderful meal and lunchtime off I had to check the bill as I felt sure they’d missed something off as it was more than reasonable for what we’d just eaten!!!!See you again soon

This was our first visit after being recommended by one of my dads friends who plays for the skittles team, and we wasn’t disappointed. We tried the fish cakes, chicken and the lamb, all of it was lovely but the lamb on the bread ( sorry I can’t remember it correct title) was just to die for, I wish I had ordered it, the bread was the best I’ve ever tasted. It would be lovely as a starter for four people or as a main, my dad is greedy and he even couldn’t finish it. We then followed with salted caramel cheesecake, brownie and chocolate orange cake which were all really good sized portions and really tasty... the curry from the next table smelt amazing so we will definitely be back to try that.

I have now been to Peggotty's several times and on each occasion have been very pleased with everything. There are two car parks; at the side of the A5 if you need a quick getaway or on a gravelled area behind the buildings. There everybody parks around the edges which leaves a massive unused space in the middle. If you're brave you could start a fresh line there but knowing my luck the one person I accidentally create a problem for will be the huge bloke at the bar that you have to squeeze past when you enter. There is a bar that's hidden around a corner and down a passageway but perhaps the passageway is not wide enough for some very big blokes and they hang around at the very narrowest part near the only obvious entrance.Assuming you do manage to get past him or them then you'll have an almost ridiculous number of tables to choose from in a very attractively decorated room which also has big leather sofas and comfy chairs here and there. The menu is vast, ranging from light snacks to salads through to a fascinating mixture of Indian and some Middle East dishes, Italian and Greek too as well as traditional-sounding British stuff. There really ought to be something for almost everyone there at pretty modest prices. One very pleasant, polite and cheerful chap seems to do everything except cook from what we could tell but there was no delay in the food arriving and every dish my friends or family have had seemed to go down very well.If the weather's good there is plenty of space outside too. Open all day, I have never found the place with more than a few people at any time so there has been none of the problems with noise from other people's chatter which I've experienced at a couple of other places recently. With such low numbers one does have to wonder how long they'll survive although it would be an ideal business for diversion of some Sicilian funds which might be why it is not just still here on my doorstep but actually getting better. And long may it flourish one way or another.

Far too hassled in the amount of times they came over whilst we were looking at the menu. Asked what Indian beers were on draught and the female serving said she had no idea what an 'Indian' beer was - the male offered us Fosters lager. Very limited choice of food - no bhindi or okra side dishes. We moved on without eating so I can't rate the food. These new owners are definitely not a change for the better, we won't be going again.

I visited with my mother and my 2 young kids. Kids loved their breakfast baps which seemed to be made with oven bottom muffins which were tasty. I had scrambled eggs on some very hard crunchy sourdough toast with some extra beans and tomato from the add on breakfast menu. My tomato was a quartered salad tomato still fridge cold whereas I would have expected this to be a sliced and cooked / hot tomato. My mum’s poached eggs on sourdough toast was on undercooked toast barely more than bread so wonder if the toaster was turned up when mine was cooked! Didn’t seem to be any salt on the tables just pepper. Cakes were okay but waitress / server didn’t know what one of them was when I asked which I thought was unusual in the current allergy climate. She seemed new and a bit lacking in confidence. Scenery was beautiful and was quite quiet. Think more could be done with the deli but I would visit again.
