I had a ceasar salad. Not great. The pieces of ettuce were far too big and the whole thing was far too dry.

Characterful village pub with excellent food options! Lovely to sit out the front on a summer evening or enjoy their lovely dining room with lots of fresh, home cooked options. Fantastic service with a smile! Highly recommended.

Good beer, always clean. They make you most welcome and have some good entertainment live music open mikes.

This is a great local pub that serves a good selection of draft beers and now has a pretty decent food offering. Not high end but just consistently good pub grub. Worth a visit if you are in the area !

What a wonderful village pub! We had dinner here twice whilst staying in Kislingbury. The food was very good, and good value for money. A disabled lady was one of our party. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, which was much appreciated by all of us. We have no doubt when we’re in the area again we’ll be back at the Sun Inn. Many thanks!

The website states the pub allows dogs and that dog bowls will be provided, but when we arrived we were told that dogs were not allowed.

Good honest food without the need to overprice, because it sounds fancy. Never disappointed with food and friendly service. A credit to owners for keeping a village pub genuine!

Lovely beers, lovely people. If you fancy a Sunday roast they suggest you book 2 weeks in advance. It must be good. We've had the home made pizzas before and they are absolutely delicious 🤤😋🙂

Ate here on a Saturday evening with friends. Waitress was great, food a little disappointing, felt very average. Burger tasted like a cheap market stall burger. Burger advertised 'steak and red onion' the red onion was literally 2 small slices of red onion. Also no sauces available with the steak. I think some little tweaks to the food could make the menu excellent. We were looking to return to try the roast on a Sunday but will try elsewhere now.

A friendly local pub with excellent quality meal deals for £12. Tuesday is homemade pie and pint night with a fantastic curry and a pint on Wednesdays They also do 2 for 1 Pizzas on Thursday.. You can't go wrong with any of these. The Sunday roast is also to be recommended and the beers are not bad either with different guest beers on offer each week. As a local we are lucky to have such a great pub on our doorstep.

I have passed here many a time but yesterday I had a lovely meal there with my Mum. The steak was wonderful and my Mum had the cheese board for a main because of it's large size. Nice staff and pleasant surroundings.

Wednesday Curry night....... £12 for a curry, rice, popadom with chutney, onion bhaji/pakora AND a glass of wine or a pint..... I mean that is unbeatable value. The place was buzzing inside and out, service was fantastic too. They also have a Pie night (same deal) on Tuesdays. Fantastic traditional and authentic village pub - top marks !

Nice pint of Tribute and staff knowledgeable on beers and spirits. Malt Whisky menu which personally I find is rare in such a pub / place but marvellous! £5.50 a double a pound or so less for a single - gotta go for it! Brixworth pate, sirloin, gammon and scampi were all had which were all served, cooked, portions plus presentation excellent. Fantastic value for money and great value. Staff couldn’t be more helpful, attentive and nice! Sat inside but a good outside area with covered seating food. Really worth a visit

This is a good restaurant for the family and the dog. What I could say they could change is they do remove stuff from the menu frequently which sometimes is stuff I like. Could *maybe* have a bigger play area but all in all a good restaurant.

We just dropped in on our way north. I can thoroughly recommend the Spinach and Blue Cheese pizza. It was superb. My husband had the Sun Signature Pizza. Excellent. Jam Roly Poly for pudding.

Booked here for family Christmas dinner with some nervousness even though we knew the food was usually good I was afraid we’d have a repeat of the only other attempt we made to eat out on this special day several years ago in a different local pub was a complete disaster. I needn’t of worried ! The whole experience was excellent from the moment we walked in to a friendly smiling hostess and a complimentary Prosecco. The food was excellent ( portions of turkey even beat my husbands appetite) lovely fresh veg which was refilled as many times as we wanted. All served by the most delightful team of servers you could meet. The whole afternoon was chilled and leisurely including getting home to a tidy house, no washing up and a sofa to put my feet up on. This may turn out to be a yearly visit. Well done to the whole team.

Best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages. Lovely vegetables and great value for money.

We visited The Sun last Sunday for a family Sunday lunch and can highly recommend it. There was a choice of three different meats for main course plus a vegetarian option. These were served with a range of vegetables, which were cooked to perfection, gravy and Yorkshire pud (including, to my delight, a gluten free one for me and gluten free gravy). Several different desserts were on the menu including two gluten free ones - all were delicious but the apple tart went down particularly well. Two courses for £15. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and even gifted my son a free pint on account of it being his birthday. Hope to go again soon.

An excellent Sunday roast - the best pub lunch we’ve had in ages. Staff were pleasant and courteous, checking that everything was well. Will definitely return.

Food was lovely. Nice friendly atmosphere. Some village pubs can be funny with non-villagers but this did not happen at all. Tilly served us and she could not have been any more friendly. She is an absolute credit to the pub. Really nice place.

We visited the Sun Inn for a meal with our eldest grandson and his partner. Because the weather was warm we were able to sit in the pleasant gardens. We were served quickly by a very pleasant man who brought us our drinks and menus, there was no rush for us to choose our food but when we did, it was served promptly by the attentive staff. The food was hot , well cooked and nicely presented, the chips were amazing as were the enormous burgers. We were checked onto see if all was ok and to ask if we needed drinks etc. staff here are very friendly and good humoured without being intrusive. We all had a really lovely relaxing experience were we were made to feel very welcome. Would certainly go again if we were in the area.

The beef was a bit tougher than last time, but the beef wellington was superb! Another lovely waitress, gone from Abi to Meg and still great service!

Tuesday is Pie & Pint night. Steak & Stilton pie is without doubt the best I've ever had. Rhubarb & Custard for afters was great. Best pub food ever!

This is a lovely pub in a beautiful area but the selection of cask ales was very poor. not what we were led to expect. Good food at reasonable prices.

Never have I had such a warm welcome to a pub than here... lovely bar staff and friendly locals wonderful traditional pub serving great beer, will try the food at some point. overall a clean well kept pub. I will definitely be a regular visitor here...

What a super little find. Great pub full of character, supported by the locals aswell as visitors. Not a huge menu but that is in no way detracting it from the quality of the food. Staff really friendly and attentive. And compliments to the cook the Sunday roast and the sticky toffee pudding for desert was fabulous. Great sauce. We will be back.

The Sunday road is the best we have had in Northampton! The Bruschetta is also delicious, The Staff are always friendly and welcoming and we always receive a great service. Gorgeous village pub , one of our favourites !

I love proper country pubs - and this is one of them. What a wonderful find! The food was excellent and served within a very acceptable timescale. The cost was fabulous. As it is Tuesday and therefore pie night, it was £10 for a pie meal and a pint. Excellent value. The service was brilliant - especially Jordan who was so welcoming and interactive to just the right degree. Both him and the lovely lady who served us (truly sorry that I failed to get her name) were so friendly and welcoming, and they both had the perfect amount of humour and attentiveness, and both were so very on the ball, even though it was a busy, summery evening. They both made time to chat and to ensure my Service Dog had both space and fresh water, as well as double checking that we were happy and had everything we required. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. I had the vegan option of chickpea, aubergine and spinach pie, chips, vegetables and vegan gravy. I can honestly say I enjoyed every mouthful! If I was made to criticise anything, the only thing I could point out was that, being in the restaurant area, the noise from the swing door at the bar was very irritating. Everytime a member of staff went through it, the door banged like someone repeatedly kicking a football against the wall. Maybe some kind of quietner could be fitted? If it wasn't for this, I would have given The Sun, Kislingbury 5 stars. However, we honestly enjoyed the whole experience of the food, the location, the staff and also included a little drive around the old village, and we will most certainly be back again! Well done to everyone at The Sun, Kislingbury. So very happy to have found such a wonderful place!

Excellent Sunday lunch sitting outside in a heated "pod", sheltered from the weather. Great service, very welcoming and freshly cooked food. We were made very welcome and had a lovely family get together with our niece and our two black dogs.

We booked an outside table for a friend's 40th Birthday, and we weren't disappointed! The beautifully decorated hut we sat in was cosy & warm. The staff were incredibly cheerful & friendly and the food was just amazing! Can't wait to visit again. Thank you so much!

Returned to the Sun Inn with 5 friends for a birthday celebration and it didn’t disappoint. The gorgeous, wooden cabin we sat in was so warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was delicious, proper hearty and wholesome, just what was needed on a cold winters night. From the moment we arrived all the staff are super friendly and the whole night go above and beyond to make sure we have everything we needed. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return.My friend also enjoyed what could have been a pretty miserable, special birthday, Thankyou for making her night great!

I met with 2 of my work friends and we sat in one of the heated sheds outside. It was great! The heater provided more than enough heat. The young lad editing on us was just lovely, polite, cheerful and so helpful. We all had the Turkey dinner - well! It was delicious! The stars on the plate were the toast potatoes, I could have had a plateful of those with the delicious gravy. I had sticky toffee pudding and custard to finish - again delicious.This pub have done an amazing job providing these outside spaces so friends and family can get you at this difficult and weird time!Well done. I will be back with my other half very soon.

Met up with 3 friends for socially distanced food & drinks!Lovely, traditional pub which has adapted so well to current restrictions. You can book one of 3 pods, which take up to 6 people. Table & seating well spread out, pods are heated & seasonally decorated so gave a real Christmas atmosphere.Food excellent & piping hot- 2 traditional Christmas Turkey meals & 2 gammon, chips, egg & pineapple.Excellent service with a smile - they couldn’t do enough.Would highly recommend!

Great Sunday lunch in a cute heated outdoor booth. Even though the weather was grotty it was lovely and cosy with a fab hearty Sunday roast.

I went to The Sun Inn last night for a meal and drinks with some friends. We sat outside in the beautiful lit up pod which had a heater. It was very warm. We all had an enjoyable evening. The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond, the atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning.

Myself and four friends who all work together in the same bubble at school, went to the Sun last night. As we were different households we could only meet outside. We contacted the Sun who advised us that they had an outside area with private individual pods. The pod was a wooden hut with a heater and a picnic style bench. We had a lovely meal with a few drinks. The food, service and the friendly staff made the evening really enjoyable. We had wrapped up, taken hats, gloves and scarfs but didn’t need the hats and gloves as we were warm enough with the heaters. We would definitely recommend a visit here. If you are in the same household they were also serving inside and there were quite a few people collecting takeaways too.

Booked a table for a Sunday roast on my birthday. Arrived early in time for a drink. Our table was available straight away or we could stay in the bar until we were ready. Food ordered and arrived promptly. Very good portions of very tasty beef and lamb roasts with all the trimmings. Deserts we’re scrumptious, topped off with a cappuccino. Would recommend this pub for a good value meal.

Popped in for Saturday lunch, for a break from traveling down the M1. Only light bites were available (not sure if it’s always that way), and choices were limited (fish & chips, jackets, or sandwich & chips). Food was ok, but given the reviews, I was expecting something a little more refined, and a full menu. Sandwiches came with chips only - no salad or garnish. Portions were decent. Oddly, the jacket potato cane with chips. Staff and locals alike were very friendly. As a local, or somewhere for a few drinks, this would do nicely. Small car park, but plenty of space on the street.

We were a group of 8 for Valentine’s Day. The table was decorated beautifully with rose petals and a balloon and the service was fantastic. Our food arrived in good time and was cooked to perfection. We had the 3 course meal and can not find anything to fault. Claire was brilliant and consistently checked in on us. 10/10, will definitely be back. Great price too!!

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our server, Claire, provided stellar service from the moment we sat down. I had the vegan curry (sweet potato) for my main, and in my honest opinion this was one of, if not the best, main I have ever had. When you consider this was a vegan main, it makes this dining experience an essential hotspot for those enjoying a vegan lifestyle.The pub is situated in a highly desirable location, and lives up to high expectations.5 Star, cannot recommend this enough.

6 months apart visiting but unlike the first visit it just felt half hearted this time round. The food wasn't as well cooked, the menu had quite a few things missing or run out. Just in general not as great as it used to be... worth a third visit though!

Friendly local - best pub in the village

Went here earlier in the year for a Sunday lunch, it was excellent. The food was great, the service and staff were the best. After lunch we sat outside in the sunshine and had more drinks. Can't fault this place for food, service and staff.

Me and my fiance come here. They had the hunters chicken which was an very generous size with chips, greens and plenty of coleslaw. This was followed by a chocolate fudge brown with chocolate sauce and ice cream. They were very happy!I'm vegetarian and opted for the vegan pie, the owner without asking made the effort to find out what was in my pie, reassured me about the vegan gravy without having to be asked. The pie and mash was great. My desert wasnt listed on the menu but once again unprompted was offered a vegan bakewell and vegan icecream. Great food and great service. We will be back.

Have been here for food a few times now, and each time is better than the last. The Heyford Burger is absolutely delicious - certainly the best burger in Northampton! A great local business to support.

I met a friend from schooldays (40+ years ago) here - we chose this pub for a quiet environment in which to catch up with each other, and because it lies roughly mid-way between his home in the north and mine in the south.

We really enjoyed our Saturday lunch at the Sun Inn; the staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome. The meal itself was delicious, especially the vegan 'tofish' (pictured) and brownie for dessert (there were several vegan options to choose from, and it was great to have such tasty vegan food alongside more traditional options). It did take a while for food and dessert, considering it didn't seem busy, but the staff were very attentive and knocked a pudding off of the bill. We hope to return.

Fantastic food, fantastic staff, fantastic pub. Genuinely delicious, freshly made and a great range of dishes (pub classics and dishes from further afield) all whilst being very reasonably priced. On a previous visit they also had a great vegan/dietary menu which was approved by my mother-in-law!!

Staff are really friendly, usually a decent selection of beers and ciders. Food was amazing - chicken with best wild mushrooms and greens I have ever had (believe they've changed head chefs since so will have to try eating there again and report back). Great open mic. Can get very crowded.

What a Gem went there last night with friends staff couldn’t do enough for you and were really friendly , definitely the best food around here had such a lovely meal big portions my favourite was the starters all freshly made and so tasty will definitely go back Well done The Sun hope you are well supported as you deserve to be .

Always a good meal here although my visit was before the refurbishment. I can only assume that this would make a visit even better.
