Just had a beautiful Sunday lunch at 'The George'. We sampled the turkey and roast pork dinners, everything was cooked to perfection, including light, crispy Yorkshire's and creamy cauliflower cheese. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the pub felt warm and inviting on a bitterly cold and windy day.

I have been to this store many times for drink in and take out and been literally marched out as I had my dogs . My other regular costa was dog friendly as long as I ordered and then sat outside . This one eventually served me at the door. Almost every other cafe in Ashbourne allows dogs so why not Costa? I won't use Costa again .

Bright and cheerful décor and furnishing. Warm welcome and good service. Interesting short menu. Excellent coffee. Good food at sensible prices. Well worth a visit.

We thought we’d have a hot drink and (hopefully) some gingerbread at the Ashbourne Gingerbread Shop when we visited back in August. Having been asked to take a seat, nobody gave us a second glance for five minutes despite the cafe being relatively quiet, so we decided to leave. We couldn’t see any gingerbread on the counter either. Disappointing.

Visited today for coffee and lunch with my husband and dog. We were shown to a table in the side room which is dog friendly and it was fine, if compact. We had a toasted sandwich and a normal sandwich. The bread was fresh, plenty of cheese filling but would have liked more ham too. Nice side salad to accompany the plates. However no salt or pepper on any of the tables and no-one asked if we wanted anything or how our meals were. Coffees were fine. What I don't understand is why a family of 4 without a dog were showed into the same area rather than the other side of the cafe, so it did get very claustrophobic.

This is a good spot. Very nicely decorated with lots of trendy touches. Friendly rustic feel and outstanding selection of beverages. Nice lunchtime menu. It’s not cheap and clearly aimed at an upmarket clientele. The bar area is very cosy and the main restaurant looks very stylish
