I’ve never been to a pub that doesn’t serve food. Well, I have now. Walking up to it we felt like we were just being stared at. As we walk in, the atmosphere seemed good and was cozy on the side we entered. But. Then as we asked if they were serving food. The staff just looked at us like we were aliens and they seemed very confused. Once it had sunk in, they said “we do pizza on Thursdays” I asked them to repeat and they added “were not doing food” That was a wasted hour and 30 mins getting ready and walking up.

Just see the picture. Local pub and hope they do well in the future but you’ve got to sort staff out if they think it’s acceptable to make cups of tea in dirty mugs

A well run local pub. A great selection of drinks, from great craft to excellent cask. Good selection limited due to size of kitchen but always tasty and fresh. We always have a great time here and never leave feeling disappointed. Dogs welcome and a great place to warm up in the winter after a cold, wet walk.

From the moment we stepped out of our car into the woods at The Wilding Airfield, we immediately felt at peace. The short walk to Two Pines Treehouse was blissfully tranquil interrupted by delightful birdsong and the susurration of the wind blowing through the trees. The treehouse is a black-clad, contemporary delight. The wrap around deck complete with decorative rope, seating & table, boot store, pizza oven and the famed copper bath, has fabulous views to the forest floor below. We sat on the deck for hours watching a multitude of birds: bullfinch, blue tits, goldcrest & goldfinch land and eat seed from the hanging bird feeder. A trio of playful grey squirrels cheekily jumped from the trees onto the feeder performing acrobatics in order to eat the spoils. The hanging wooden porch swing attached to the iron frame under the treehouse was a lovely touch, especially when lit up at night. Inside, the treehouse is beautifully appointed. Our hosts have forseen every need. There were croissants, pain au chocolat, brown sourdough bread from Hambleton Bakery, homemade jam and their own honey, berries from Lutton Farm, organic milk and orange juice, complimentary Cava and chocolates! The coffee to put in the cafetiere was mellow & delicate. There were tea bags, fruit teas, sugar, flour, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar and mixed herbs. The kitchen area is complete with eye-level electric oven, induction two plate hob, small fridge/freezer, stovetop whistling kettle, teapot, toaster with all the cutlery, crockery, and accoutrements you could ever envisage needing (chopping boards, wooden spoons, tin opener, pizza cutter, scissors, tongs, rolling pin, grater, bottle opener, sharp knives, saucepans, colander, ceramic dishes, tea towels, oven mitt, dustpan & brush, eco washing up liquid, natural sponge, & kitchen roll). The huge window above the sink allowed a lovely through draught, especially when the mezzanine bedroom window was open. We brought all our made-from-scratch meals with us and ate on the outside deck watching the wildlife around us, so serene and bucolic. Sitting on the settee in the living space, you had captivating views of the deck, visitors on the bird feeder and the surrounding woodland for those cooler evenings. The tiny dining table and two chairs made good use of the small space.Thankfully no TV to marr the hushed tones! WiFi was blisteringly fast if you need to stay connected. The bathroom was a decent size with piping hot water in the large shower cubicle and a stunning woodland view from the flushing loo. The long footstool under the sink was a thoughtful addition enabling us to stow our own supplies. The eco friendly "faith in nature" toiletries in glass containers (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bubble bath & liquid hand soap) had a citrusy, zesty and invigorating scent. The heated towel rail kept the towels warm & dry. Handy illuminated mirror above a smallish sink. Hair dryer is available too. The bedroom's glorious full length window with views of the forest canopy and the stars was mesmerising. The king-size bed was super comfy and kept us snuggly through the night. Although the static loft ladder to the mezzanine bedroom needs some negotiating and getting used to! Certainty couldn't carry a drink to bed. The white tongue & groove cladding, throughout the cabin, made it feel more spacious and immaculate. We were able to stand at full height in the bedroom which was useful. During the night we heard an owl hooting and woke to a melodious dawn chorus complete with cuckoo calls. Walking around the re-wilded Airfield was an absolute treat; seeing birds of prey (red kites) swooping and hovering, a couple of startled pheasants, colourful butterflies (Marbled White, Silver-washed fritillary, Five spot burnet) landing on wild flowers, and listening to the ever present birdsong while wandering along the buttercup & clover strewn mowed paths. Benches were dotted along the way so that we could stop and enjoy the wildlife. We spotted a camera-shy Muntjac deer that bolted when it spied us. We found the best time to see wildlife is twilight between 8pm-9pm, we saw rabbits, deer & pheasants. The whole experience helped us fully unwind! To be honest, we never left the site, never needed to. But there's plenty of interesting activities in the area if you want to go further a field. The outside copper bath was sheer indulgence. In the warm bubbles being serenaded by birdsong, listening to owls hoot & deer bark, watching a rabbit scurrying by in the forest below, the sky gradually darken & stars start twinkling. Absolute euphoria! Didn't get the opportunity to use the outdoor pizza oven, fire pit or log burning stove! And as we visited in June, we didn't need to use the underfloor heating either. All things considered, if you love the great outdoors, wildlife, a sustainable life-style and quality accommodation, Two Pines is the place for you! Easily 10/10, we'll be returning!

We called in without a reservation for food. As the England football match was on TV, only pizza was on the menu. We didn’t mind this at all and understood. Unfortunately the service for drinks was really slow. There were at least three people working but they kept disappearing so it took ages to get served and it wasn’t even busy. Having said that, the pizza’s were nice, but was spoilt by not being given either cutlery or serviettes. There was nobody about to ask for these so we ate up, wiped our hand on wet wipes we had on us and left. Had things have been different, we’d have stayed much longer, ordered more drinks and stayed while the match was on

Our family of 10 (4 children, 6 adults) stayed in beautiful cottage literally 10 metres from the Plough. On our last night went to the Plough to eat, and what a good decision. Menu is compact but all main courses were excellent and desserts were outstanding. The whole family was delighted. The service was very friendly and efficient. A great team at the Plough and would not hesitate to recommend. Thanks for a most enjoyable evening. Steve, Christine & family.

Arrived at Two Dales for 4 in the afternoon and by 6.30 ish we had been fed and watered! Took a stroll to this pub which was 5 min walk from where we were staying and whilst the menu was limited it was lovely food, home cooked and there was something for everyone! I am assuming that the menu is catered more for the locals than passing trade and tourists as it is out of the way and very much a community pub! That said we were greeted warmly, fur baby made himself comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you

The pub itself is a characterful building but that's where it ends. Staff not very friendly and service too slow. Seems to cater more for locals than the passing tourist. Menu also quite limited choice.

Very slow service. Waited 20 minutes for drinks. Limited menu. Pie mash and peas or pizza which was acceptable. Four pie mash and peas ordered. How can this possibly take so long....after 1 hour we had to ask where our meals were.....No update had been offered and we were told they were on the way.Complimentary round of drinks provided when we asked .....No real reason given for the delay except the kitchen is small and they were one staff member down.20 minutes later the food arrived ...it looked unappetising...the pie was hot everything else was not ....the gravy was luke warm with a skin like it had been stood.Dispite being hungry the wait was bad but then the meal was unacceptable....staff were happy to give us a refund It is such a shame as we were looking forward to the evening and the meal

Really poor. Save your money and go down the road 5 mins to the Old Smithy Beeley for your moneys worth, time and quality. £13.50 for a full english breakfast which was nothing better than being in a Wetherspoons. Portion side is horrendous and coffee was disgusting. Both taste and how it was made. Looks lovely and welcoming both inside and out so a real shame really. Expect better
