We were looking forward to finishing our trip to Derbyshire with a lovely breakfast at Chatsworth kitchen. We normally go to the farm shop cafe. We were so disappointed the cafe was cold staff were welcoming to be fair The eggs Benedict didn’t seem warm . Our server told us that it is served with cold sauce and that’s why . It’s one of my favourites and I’ve never had it served with a cold sauce so beware. Very little ham and didn’t seem very fresh. Sadly trading on the Chatsworth name and not the quality we expect for the price . Would return to farm shop cafe in future just up the road .

I’ve been 3 times in last 12 months and on each occasion, the food is average, the plates and cups are cold. The food and drink go cold very quickly, the staff look like they are being forced to be there against their will. No one smiles, the environment is cold. The food is cold. I’ve mentioned this 3 times and written 2 reviews. They clearly aren’t interested Three strikes and I’m out I’m afraid.

Sad to agree with other reviews that the food has really gone downhill. Very undercooked poached egg we left and bitter tasting mushrooms. Lovely staff but they don't seem to be listening to feedback on the food

A lovely venue - a local breakfast spot for us . Lovely food and atmosphere BUT I had the pea and bean mash on sourdough and it was dominated by raw onion which completely spoilt it. I did mention this when paying but the response was lukewarm to say the least and I doubt it had any impact. I will be back as I have had other breakfast choices here and they have been excellent but this dish should come with a “ raw onion “ alert.

Had a gorgeous lunch for the first time at Chatsworth Kitchen, sandwiches are huge and when seeing other options come out from the kitchen was tempted by them all. Service was so lovely, kind and attentive. A lovely artisanal gift shop on arrival too, from Chatsworth crafts to further afield beautifully curated. a 4 star instead of a 5, it felt a bit understaffed.

Really poor. Save your money and go down the road 5 mins to the Old Smithy Beeley for your moneys worth, time and quality. £13.50 for a full english breakfast which was nothing better than being in a Wetherspoons. Portion side is horrendous and coffee was disgusting. Both taste and how it was made. Looks lovely and welcoming both inside and out so a real shame really. Expect better

Really tasty lunch and very attentive friendly staff. The portions are quite small and it’s pricey but it’s all nicely presented. I’m not sure why they’ve stopped marking gluten free options on the main menu like they used to - instead you now get handed the dreaded allergen folder and have to plough through a bunch of poly-pocketed sheets trying to find what is suitable to eat. When everyone else is looking at a lovely menu and you’re sat trying to wrestle with a manky lever arch folder it does ruin your experience somewhat. Please make it nicer for those of us with allergens! Also a choice of more than one gf cake would be marvellous but beggars can’t be choosers. Good job I like coffee cake!

. . . absolutely starving and received our order quickly, warm, friendly welcome in beautiful surroundings . . . and dog friendly; our spaniel, Pepper was included as a customer in her own right by the staff and other customers! We ordered the cheese and piccalilli sandwich on granary with a side of fries and it was very tasty. Enjoyed with a pot of earl grey and all reasonably priced, so we'll be back, thank you!

I was with my husband & daughter on Sunday 18th. Waited 30 minutes for our order . My chicken burger was couple of pieces of cold chicken in a very tastless soft bun and a slice of tomato. Not a burger at all . My daughter Chicken salad was just chopped lettuce with few pieces of chichen on top . For 16.95 I could say it seemed liked day light rubbery . Very disappointing . We had to eat whatever it was and leave -. I would have like to complain but we arrange to meet a friend and I had no time . Not going there again for lunch especially on Sunday .

Firstly the staff were lovely. Not our first visit but this time was very disappointing. My wife and I both ordered the Kitchen Burger both well done with crispy bacon and mine without cheese & sauce. However when they arrived my wife's burger was not cooked through. Staff said they would replace it. By the time it came I had finished my meal (1/2 hr). This time it was cooked but alas no cheese or sauce, and fries tepid (?same fries). Then there was a piece of grissle in the middle and extremely peppery!!! We were told there would be a reduction - this turned out to be our coffee free!!!!! To be honest this was an insult! We won't be returning any time soon. The name Chatsworth should mean quality but not in this case.

The coffee was fine but a bit small. The broadbean and pea smash was rather ordinary and dry. It seemed like finely chopped broad beans and peas with no dressing mixed in, topped with some cherry tomatoes, a bit of red onion, and a bit of ordinary salad dressing. It was mounted on a dry chunk of sourdough. Very unexciting. The portion of fries was small and oversalted. We only went there because the other cafe is shut for a refurb. Won't bother again.

Been here a couple of times now. Great to have a lovely restaurant like this in a shopping outlet. Staff are friendly and efficient and food arrives swiftly. However the menu never changes and doesn’t reflect the season in any way. It’s very expensive for quite ordinary food, chips are not included. Very limited choice of beers. Salad was just a few over dressed leaves. Could be so much better- disappointing

First time visit to Chatsworth Kitchen today. I ordered the Vegetarian Breakfast and an Americano. The coffee was excellent and I enjoyed everything on the plate, apart from the vegetarian sausages which were absolutely disgusting. When dining out, I avoid giving negative feedback unless absolutely necessary. This was necessary! This was not the cheapest vegetarian breakfast I have ever had. It was very disappointing that one of the key ingredients was inedible. I expected better.

This was our fourth visit as it had become one of our favourite places to go. The food is good and reasonably priced and we like the ambience. However on this occasion the service was poor. We arrived before our booking so had a drink whilst waiting. When we were able to order I couldn't have what I wanted as the Chef had been called away. We were told he would be 20 minutes so decided to wait. After 35 minutes I couldn't wait any longer so had something else instead. I don't know why we weren't told about the absence of the flatbread chef when we ordered our drinks. We had to ask for our empty glasses and bottles to be removed and we had to ask for the dessert menu. The gentleman on front of house was very unwelcoming and looked totally bored. He had to seat people as well as take payment which may have aggrevated him, if so he certainly wasn't hiding it. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the poor service spoilt it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless the service was improved. I wonder if they have become complacent because of the name.

I'm a regular visitor to the Chatsworth area, I've eaten at most of the Chatsworth food outlets but I hadn't tried the Kitchen until today as I'd been slightly put off but reviews on here. The food offering at Chatsworth I find is mostly good to very good but never cheap. We went today after a walk at Chatsworth and I must say the food was top quality, we had the steak and ale pie which worth the £16 compared with other eateries in the area. Very nice decore and despite being busy service was friendly and efficient, will be coming back.

We both ordered a BLT sandwich for our lunch. The bacon was mainly fat with a few slivers of bacon. As I can’t eat fat due to a medical condition,I asked the waitress if this is normal for the bacon to be as fatty. She whipped the plate away while I was eating half of the sandwich which from I had removed the bacon from and said she would see if she could get any with less fat. When she returned with the rest of my sandwich and bacon which had been cooked until the fat was browned she said it says streaky bacon on the menu. When we went to pay we checked the menu and it says cured bacon not streaky. Apparently they use streaky for the breakfasts as well. We said we weren’t happy & they gave us a 20% discount. The supervisor said they would alter the menu. Very disappointed Chatsworth. We would expect better. Should have gone to Massarella’s.

Everybody deserves a second chance: we have just done that! - First time: we stood at the Please wait to be seated pulpit: after 10 minutes of standing there looking like fools, we got seated. After another 10 minutes wait our Capuccinos arrived: kind of, because no froth on the top... - Second chance: we sat down in this, shall we call it, "atmosphere-less" place and got another set of Capuccinos: they were that hot we could not touch the cups and had to order a small jug of cold milk, defeating the object by diluting th drink, which was brought by a waiter who didn't think a modest apology would have been nice... The place lacks in soft furnishings, but foremost the general atmosphere is a stiff one, a mix of arrogance from the staff combined with unorganized service. In the same spirit most items for sale commend arrogant prices. The winelist for instance contains a fair amount of wines from the cheaper part of France vineyards but having a pathetic price mark up. You might say you can't judge a venue on a couple of Capuccinos? Yes you can.

Thank you to the staff who managed to find us a table as the cafe was busy and there were many reserved tables. The cafetiere coffee for two was more than ample, very fresh and tasty. The scone very nice too and service good. Excellent decor and also plenty of magazines available to read when having your drinks. Family lunch gathering booked in advance and most disappointed. Delivery of food service was slow and sandwiches were underwhelming. The steak sandwiches were supposed to be served on ciabatta but the bread was more like a soft bloomer sub roll. When asked if the sandwiches had been served on Ciabatta we were abruptly advised, yes, that's our Ciabatta. It was served on an overly large plate with a small slice of steak and a bit of bland frilly lettuce, with no tomato etc. Chips could be ordered at an additional cost. It was just about warm and delivered last to the table. Overall service was inconsistent, some staff were good but sadly a couple of others were not. Certainly not worth the ~£175 for 10 people having sandwiches and a coffee. Sadly we will not return. No where near the standard of the Chatsworth brand and the fantastic Farm shop cafe.

They arrived on plates swimming with grease, the mushrooms were cold and much of the rest luke warm at best. The staff seemed to loiter about with no sense of urgency and some staff training would'nt come amiss. The whole set up for ordering and serving hot food badly needs reviewing. A very poor Chatsworth experience not to be repeated.

Visited today for coffee and lunch with my husband and dog. We were shown to a table in the side room which is dog friendly and it was fine, if compact. We had a toasted sandwich and a normal sandwich. The bread was fresh, plenty of cheese filling but would have liked more ham too. Nice side salad to accompany the plates. However no salt or pepper on any of the tables and no-one asked if we wanted anything or how our meals were. Coffees were fine. What I don't understand is why a family of 4 without a dog were showed into the same area rather than the other side of the cafe, so it did get very claustrophobic.
