Came here for a meal, I am currently 7 months pregnant so I had to nip for a wee before hand and rudely greeted by a woman, who said “I could’ve asked politely to use the toilet” safe to say we didn’t stay.

Great place for a cosy drink especially after a walk in the local area, no food but they have regular food nights which are amazing, well worth trying

Great place and friendly, helpful staff. Such a shame they don't get more support.

Always welcoming. A great selection of beers on offer and conversations to be had. Locals are always friendly and are easy to talk to. We've had many good visits and will keep coming back. A true, hidden gem!

Visited with wife to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Ordered food and drinks and had a pleasant and enjoyable meal. However was somewhat taken aback when it came to pay bill. Had to pay by card, and whilst going through transaction was prompted whether I wanted to pay gratuity of 10%/15%/or 20%. I personally thought this was outrageous and felt i was almost being blackmailed. I normally leave a cash tip at my own discretion which I feel appropriate and do not like to be told what to give. I think this practice needs stopping.

We stayed on our trip to Chatsworth House Estate. It’s only a short detour from Chatsworth House. The Sycamore Cottage is amazing. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very modern and the cottage was very classy. Wi Fi with a strong signal right through the cottage. All the usual conveniences. The whole accommodation is immaculately clean. Central heating made the cottage a very comfortable place to stay. We had dinner at the Peacock at Barlow. The food was brilliant. Good selection on the menu and the quality of the food was fantastic. The meals were served pretty quickly as well. We had the rib eye steak and the pork belly and it was delicious. They also have their own brewery and had three local pump ales available. Collyfobble Brewery. Give the IPA a go. A full English breakfast was included with the accommodation cost. That was a great meal. The pub terrace has charming views across green fields and some stone cottages. Really feels like you’ve escaped. The only thing better than the food and accommodation is the customer service. All of the staff were so friendly, helpful and nothing was a problem. We were actually served by James and Owen on Saturday evening who turned out to be the managers! The wait staff and the bar staff were all over it. Even when it’s busy, they were helpful and friendly. It made our stay in Barlow an amazing experience. The next morning, the hotel staff helped me out with an item that I needed. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is visiting the area. Do yourself a favour and go for the weekend. I can’t give a higher review rating so 5 stars it is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had a wonderful day today at the Forge. Food was delicious, as ever. Staff were very responsive and attentive, even sang happy birthday when they brought the cake out. Everyone enjoyed. I would definitely recommend if you want a good meal and pleasant surroundings, with staff that care and go the extra mile. Thank you to everyone at the Foge Inn

We used to go to this pub every year when we came up to the peak district. Until we had a kid. Unfortunately no kids under the age of 6 are allowed. Food was always great and delicious. Parking roadside and always managed to find some, booking recommended.
