Robin Hood & Little John in South Kesteven

It was a little disappointing that it wasn't a festive menu but the food was excellent, as always. Very few diners resulted in lack of atmosphere. It didn't seem like the week before Christmas but was otherwise very enjoyable.

We went to an evening dinner which was part of a Christmas dinner the menu is a set menu with multiple choices and the choices were good including belly pork Turkey and cod we had for starter salmon terrine and chicken liver pate both of which were really good followed by belly pork and cod for main course and fruit crumble and a cheese selection for desert everything was really good staff were really attentive and efficient the whole experience was good

A brilliant place for a brilliant meal.

Charming country pub, clean and well manicured garden and parking, well kept ales, fabulous quality food, friendly and welcoming staff. Perfection.

Unfortunately just didn't feel this place lived up to expectations based on other reviews following a visit for Sunday Roast. Warm welcome in the bar, but felt the waitresses in the restaurant were cold and unapproachable. Food was ok, but nothing special with 1 measly portion of veg to share for 6 persons. A disappointment!

Food and service was outstanding. Quality of the Sunday roast was so good and desserts were home made and very tasty!

The pub has a large welcoming car park as you arrive and the building is well presented. We were greeted by a smiling friendly face who took us into the bar which has a good selection of wines and beers, we were then shown to our table in a lovely olde worldy restaurant. Our waitresses were all very helpful and polite as they took our orders and brought things to our table. Between the four of us we'd ordered sea bass, lasagne, a mixed grill and a hunters chicken all of which we agreed were red hot, delicious and tasty. The visit to The Robin Hood and Little John was a huge success and we'll definitely be going back very soon.

This is my favourite restaurant in this area by a mile! The food bangs, always perfectly cooked (the pork is my go-to, that crackling is PERFECT.) you won’t leave this place hungry!

Very nice country pub. Very popular, very busy even mid week. Recommend booking a table. Table for four, we all enjoyed our meals, good service, nice old bar.

Second time visiting Lincoln came last year could not find good place to eat or disabled access.if in wheelchair this place not for you.understand would be hard to make it so.we had starter of king prawns they had not been shelled had all legs on everything on them,but so hot burnt are fingers trying to peel them,so messy.had poo in them we went through so many tissues unbelievable, and cooked so hot taste like rubber it's so lazy for prep chefs not to do it, then gentle cook would have been so much better.are main course was rack of ribs very nice tasty but so big more than enough if cut in half and cheaper,also some chips nice but most not, still had hard skins on,plate of cheesy potatoes could not eat after full rack of ribs took them with us,but when had them later no seasoning had to put little salt on.staff friendly and welcoming.if in my home town of Manchester and said as we did to waitress about the prawns would have been offered some thing else or discount given.but at least better that place last year who left us to wait while serving his regulars and very rude when we asked how long before we were going to sit and eat has we had booked gave him lots of terrible reviews.so not had very good eating experience in Lincoln.

Hadn't been for years but I must say what a fantastic place we had a lovely meal and some drink it was so relaxing with a fantastic atmosphere will definitely be going back again well done to everyone

A lovely old country pub with a large dining room. A good choice of food with large portions

First time there last night, what a lovely place.. we ordered rack of ribs, I can honestly say they were the best I have ever eaten, high quality, and beautifully cooked and presented, my wife had steak which again was outstanding and cooked to perfection. Welcoming staff, great atmosphere and a very enjoyable experience...can't wait to return

Lovely place, great staff, very welcoming, food was really nice what I could have off it. Maybe having more of a menu choice for people with dietary requirements, as I found myself struggling with options, and it becomes slightly embarrassing when ordering as you feel like your being a problem, the watiress who served us was very nice about it. Just a recommendation for you. It would be nice to have more of a choice, especially on the puddings. 😊 Kind regards

We had a family gathering for 14 at the Robin Hood and Little John on the evening of Monday 12th August. We had a warm welcome at the bar and sat outside on the inviting and comfortable patio area while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. We had pre-ordered food as the group was large and were politely invited to our table inside at the time we had booked to eat, as one of our group had been delayed by work the kitchen kindly accommodated this by holding their meal until they arrived. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly, providing excellent service the whole evening, which was rounded off by our group returning to the patio area. In the days to follow everyone in the group positively commented on the quality of the food and service and how they had enjoyed the evening. Many thanks to all the staff at the Robin Hood, and a particular mention for the proprietors daughter who welcomed us when we arrived and did an amazing job looking after us.

Really enjoyed this place ! Well cook food. Excellent service. We sat outside in a very pleasant beer garden. I had Steak and Ale pie, served with chips carrots Broccoli and cabbage the other meals were fish and chips. A fish platter ( said to be excellent. ). And a chicken salad !. Would certainly be happy to go again ! Hopefully very soon.

Really nice place. Good food, excellent beers, nice outside dining area with plenty of tables, pleasant countryside location, and especially friendly and polite staff. Dog friendly too. I highly recommend the Robon Hood and Little John pub.

Outstanding service and amazing food!!

Visited here 20/7/24. Lovely dog friendly garden area (didn’t go into the pub), lovely staff and very nice beer. Food wise, it felt a bit odd! Firstly, to clarify, the food was exceptional. We had fish and chips & ham, egg and chips twice - all of which were cooked beautifully and tasted the same! We felt it was odd that we only initially received one dish of chips between three of us. If your menu states “fish and chips” or “ham, egg and chips”, you would expect the chips to come as part of the meal, but we were told that we only get one portion per table. That felt a little deceptive as nowhere does it state this. However, we did receive another dish of chips when we queried it and we all agreed the chips were sensational. So, definitely worth a visit as the food ia great, just be prepared on the chips issue!

Very nice, dog friendly country pub

Great pub, lovely staff and fabulous food. I was away with work, on my own and felt happy and comfortable and was made to feel very welcome by the great staff. Very highly recommended. Sea bass was spot on

This is our fourth family visit on a lunch time and never disappoints! The menu has something for everyone and the bonus of daily and seasonal specials board. You can expect a warm and friendly welcome. Table service is excellent.Food delicious and generous portions the cheese and onion potatoes are one of my favourites. Will definitely return and highly recommend 😊

This place is not good . Right from the start it seems a problem to split the bill between 3 families. Then we ordered and and have to share portions of chips ,no gravy with a steak pie and 6 people sat round a table that was not big enough for 4. All in all a bad experience and I will never return again

Great food. Generous, tasty and just perfect for dinner. The food makes it worthwhile. The pub can get very hot so maybe save your visit for cooler days. Service can get too busy.

Great place great food good staff friendly fantastic Sunday lunch

Visited a month ago food excellent but this saturday was the opposite I had scampi was hard and over cooked,All four of us ordered chips what we got was burnt bits of potatoes, chef needs to get his or her act together otherwise will start losing customers

Fabulous! So much food I had to bring a doggie bag home! The belly pork was out of this world! Highly recommend.

Warmly welcomed. Menu not over complicated. Ate fish and chips. Large fish, tasty, crisp batter. Chips had skin on (I'd prefer not, fibre overload but that's me) didn't sample the mushy peas but partner happy. Forgot to take photo.

Staff and bar tenders were attentive and serving times were quick and efficient. The food is lovely, however the menu is a little limited. Desperately needs an affordable steak, a good hearty burger and a home made curry on the menu. Decoration and atmosphere are lovely. Would recommend as a place to drink but needs a bit more selection of foods to keep coming back to.

Large carpark. A short walk past the outside tables that look nice. Through the entrance. Upto the bar. Got a lovely welcome. Ordered drinks and the shown to a table. A nice relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of room between tables. Given the menu. And left yo make our minds up. After a few minutes made our order. Sea bass and I had steak and ale pie. We went at just after 1pm on a Wednesday and it was busy. The wait for the food to come was fine . I was told the sea bass was cooked to perfection and the rest of the plate went well with it. My pie was nice. It was all very nice and full of flavour. Chips nice. And the veg all nicely cooked. Price was good and food very nice.good service. Will definitely go again.

Had a great asunday lunch. Paid extra for all meats. Wow. It was fantastic. The beef was perfectly cooked to my liking. And great atmosphere too. 12/10.

Great choice of dishes on the menu. Make sure you are hungry as the portions are enormous!

Went to this pub for Sunday lunch for my hubby's birthday on a recommendation from a friend. Went to our table and chose the menu after seeing the beef had some fat on we both decided to have this. My hubby's was pink I decided to have well done. My beef was very dry and had more fat than meat. The roast potatoes were so salty couldn't eat them. We think the gravy was mixed up with the next table?? who had Pork. Our gravy had a taste of sage was very thick and congealed. We couldn't eat anymore veg as a fly was walking on them. We were asked if we wanted dessert and said yes but after 15 mins still did not have a menu?? We decided to pay and leave telling the staff we weren't given an opportunity for dessert. All in all it was a disastrous lunch and a disappointing birthday meal.

Rate my ribena: not too watery, just the right amount of sweetness, makes my tongue red. Lots of tiny bits of ice which I like. The glass was fancy. I looked fancy holding it.

It's a lovely cosy place, the food is excellent, I had a mixed grill, although not a massive plate full of food... It didn't need to be, it was perfectly cooked and I was more than satisfied at the end( I normally like a large helping) Great service, very friendly place. Lots of parking and ... When/if we get good weather there's a nice outside seating area.

My partner took me here on Mon 18th March and all I can say is we were greeted by a friendly owners the place was clean the atmosphere was perfect for meals, and an evening out.The meals and drinks were excellent my partner had lasagne and I had the swordfish both of which were cooked fresh the price we paid was reasonable and we certainly will visit again. Complement to host they're a credit

The food was, as usual, totally delicious. Plenty at each course. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff in the restaurant or behind the bar. Lovely atmosphere, lively without being rowdy, no rush at all. Plenty of parking also. Would highly recommend.

I visited here with family on Mothering Sunday in a party of 12 , l cannot praise the experience enough , the food was delicious and as it advertises Homemade , the mushrooms in Stilton sauce as a starter was like a main delicious . Then the roast Lamb 3 huge slices Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes and the veg in abundance the leeks in cheese sauce delicious. I was too full for dessert but they looked and were enjoyed by many . I am in a wheelchair and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly . I wish it was nearer to us in Cambridge. A definite pub to visit again . Thank you for making our Mothering Sunday special.

Really disappointed. Tried calling on a Saturday pm to book for Sun lunch next day. No telephone response so emailed instead. Its now Thurs still no response.

Really good Monday Lunch, plenty of home made variety and very polite service . Ales very good too . Stunning open countryside for a walk too

Update December 2023: excellent food and service, friendly staff and good selection of beers. Nice atmosphere at lunchtime especially if you want to chat. Fish pie very good, lasagne also very tasty. Had lunch here on a very hot sunny day and sat outside. The waiting staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The selection of beers was good and service was prompt. The seafood platter (main course) was excellent and the serving of marie rose sauce that accompanied it was generous. The Hunter's chicken was tasty, we'll cooked and nicely presented. Good service, good food, good beer and good prices. Will definitely return again soon. Return visit June 23. Food just as good especially the tuna steak with samphire. The Timothy Taylor Landlord is still well kept and an almost perfect session bitter. Different waiting staff, but still good service. not quite as friendly and keen to lock up. Still worth coming to. Mostly excellent.

Amazing old english pub. The food was great service even better. Can recommend the Pork Belly and Steak Pie. Double yummy.

We had a special Birthday lunch here for 20 people and it was perfect. The food was amazing and timed perfectly along with the service. Thank you to the team for making this a Birthday to remember.

Took my wife for wedding anniversary. Nice country pub atmosphere, very good selection of drinks. The pork sunday lunch was hot, delicious and plenty of it. Must book first.

Fantastic place for food. I've been 3 times and I've been completely satisfied each time! Plenty of parking here, small and cosy country pub serving great food! Large starters, and a large selection to choose from. They have a specials board which will be brought to the table, beautiful fresh options and always something different. It is a very small and intimate location. I wouldn't think it would suit a large party of people at all but for a couple to maybe 4/5 people, it's perfect. Staff are friendly. I've had the creamy mushrooms from here twice and both times have been really impressed with the amount and the quality of them. There is outdoor seating which is really beautiful and garden lights but I couldn't see any heaters so it can get a little chilly in the evenings. Perhaps a summer day would be nice.

Long time since last visit but decided to try again. It's not a place that you could say has real atmosphere on a Monday lunchtime but still provides great food at excellent value for money plus, of course, the obligatory excellent pint of cask. We decided it won't be such a big gap before we return.

Just off the A16 a welcome and surprise stop on a lovely late summer late lunch time. Sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a hearty home cooked meal. Beautiful short crust pastry on the special pie. 😁💙🇬🇧👍

We had a ride round area and we decided to visit Robin Hood and little John on Sunday, for a drink ,with our chocolate Labador, sat outside ,service was very welcoming and gave charlie drink of water .we will definitely come next time for meal .

Superb food, as always. Service is normally spot on but last Friday, no one seemed responsible for our table. Unusual for this place! We love this Inn.

The absolute best place for food. I have been 3 times in the last 12 months and each time the food has been exquisite. We have family in a near by village and we are from Scotland. I cannot recommend this place enough to everyone and anyone who can go. Will definitely be back at some point!

Had a fabulous Sunday lunch here today …. Food was excellent and served piping hot. They have a very young team of waiting staff for Sunday lunch and they were all so polite and very attentive!! I would highly recommend and well done to everyone from kitchen staff to waiting staff for making our lunch very memorable

We visited the Robin Hood to celibate my partner’s Birthday, we decided on lunch rather than dinner. Everything about this Pub/Restaurant is great. The atmosphere is delightful, the staff charming and helpful, the food is consistently great, but best of all, they serve draft Abbots, Marvellous 🍺 What more could you ask for. Highly recommend.

Simple traditional pub food great taste.

We decided to eat here for my wife and I, it made a nice change from the loud locals we're used to. We were seated quickly with a nice selection of meals on offer. I plumped for steak pie, while my wife chose the hunters chicken. Both meals arrived in good time and were piping hot. There was a good amount of steak and gravy and it was very tasty. I would not hesitate in recommending this pub.

We arrived on Sunday and were greeted with a warm welcome drinks served quickly and shown to our table in the dining room by waiting staff , Menus on the table ready waiting Our party of 4 adults have a hobby of having Sunday lunches at different venues every month and critiquing the meals . My friend spotted the steak and Ale pie leaving the kitchen , our minds were made up we all opted for the steak and ale pies . The food arrived very quickly the plates were hot the pies looked delicious served in earthenware oval dishes with roast potatoes parsnip piping hot , the vegetables arrived quickly and all looked fabulous ,proper home cooked veg, leek and cheese bake awesome , with a large boat of hot thick meat gravy, The attention to detail was excellent the deserts were as good chosen from a chalkboard menu . Other pubs need to learn from the dining experience at this well run pub all meals were extremely well priced and portion size was generous . The dining room is very tastefully decorated tables with room around them. What a fabulous meal , thank you for getting it right . We are returning shortly for The Sunday lunch ,10/10 from us . A family member recommended us Robin Hood, and we are so glad they did. The location is a pleasant drive from Stamford, but worth it. We went for a Sunday lunch and had to book well in advance as it’s always so busy, which is always a good sign. The food was excellent, and you got a good portion of everything. The waiting staff were also very attentive and helpful.

We rarely go out for sunday for Sunday lunch, but we were invited by friends to go to the Robin Hood today for lunch. This is our regular eatery of choice in the evenings so we were not surprised at all that we enjoyed it so much. Great choice of dishes and superb quality produce. Well presented, beautifully cooked, great staf. Lovely traditional surroundings and very clean!! Which many places are not!!! Highly recommended and 10 out of 10. Well done Terry, Nicola and team. We will certainly be back, sorry no photos my phone was in the car!
