Visited this pub for the first time, was amazed that all the food was home cooked, cannot remember the last time I’ve been in a pub that didn’t microwave everything, I had steak and ale pie, was really nice, portions were also big, you won’t be hungry and the prices are great. I live guiness, hard to find a decent pint outside Ireland, this is hands down the best guiness I’ve had in this area!!

Visited the Jolly Brewer In Stamford for the first time today, And met Tony and the staff very warm and welcoming pub and the open fire was happy surprise specially as it was cold, The beers are very well kept especially the Guinness probably one of the best in the area and the home-made food Was outstanding and very reasonable price , Will definitely be visiting again next time I’m in Stamford and recommending to friends and family

This was one of my local haunts when living in Stamford and I called in for the first time in around 5 years when visiting the town. It's still the great little pub it always was and serves a great pint of real ale.

Heard that the Jolly Brewer was under new ownership after a period in the doldrums. We visited for lunch and a few beers and we weren't disappointed. Lovely friendly service, good beer and simple reasonably priced food. Four real ales including Oakham JHB which went down a treat. The outside seating although a little low for our aging limbs was great in the May sunshine.

We were there on a 6 nations Saturday. The atmosphere was great and plenty of banter. The lady behind the bar was attentive and efficient even though it was very busy. And the burger was really good. Good beer, good food , good service and good atmosphere!.... Good pub.

Admittedly, I haven't been here in years. I knew it had been taken over. I had passed several times and saw an offer for food at lunchtime, 2 meals, 4 £12 (bargain). Well, I can honestly say the food was lovely. The fries were gorgeous, the quiche was less quiche and more scrambled egg in pastry with a few bits of ham thrown in (I know that's a quchie), but somehow it worked. There was a roast dinner on the offer too, but considering we went on a Friday lunchtime, there were only 3 people in the pub!!! The landlord wasn't friendly and just hovered by you until you gave your order. There was no talking to the other 3 customers, no banter. In fact, it was THAT quiet. You dare not speak. The landlord was just walking up and down the bar, watching every customer. Felt very uncomfortable. There were no lights on either, I understand saving energy and well done. However, it's a dark pub with small windows. A lick of paint would go far and lighten it up. Also recommended changing the mop head when washing the floors. There is a very unpleasant smell that sticks to every inch of the pub. Was so pleased to get outside and have fresh air. Would i go back? Yes, for the food, but would be sat outside. It's certainly not the pub, it used to be unfortunately.

Not been in for a couple of years but could tell it had changed hands as soon as we walked in. Just one person behind the bar at 6pm on a Friday night so a bit of a wait to get served. Fewer (3) beers on tap than there used to be but the beer we did have was in perfect condition.

Visited for a quick lunch. The food is simple but very well done. Quite probably the best chips I've ever had. Great selection of beers and, although I hate to say it as I was in the trade many years ago, the best kept beer (Oakham JHB) I've had. Rumour was going round of a change of ownership. I hope it was just a rumour.

A really friendly "town" pub where locals go. Very good range of beers from a variety of brewers, and cider too. We were very impressed with the local "cloudy beer" has a great aftertaste and also the rhubarb cider was surprisingly fresh and delicious. A very friendly landlady who knows her beers as well. An excellent place, if you like good beer, you'd best come here!

We traipsed around every pub in Stamford looking for a decent range of cask ale. This was our last port of call. A friendly local started chatting to us about the pubs, etc., and we tasted a few beers and made our choice. We returned later in the week even though the pub was across the other side of town. Knowledgeable bar staff. Recommended.

Visited this pub quite a while ago before I came to Stamford to live. Since moving here over 8 years ago I have been a few times with mates and family. I also go to their Beer festival and love the choices of beer. This pub is rather small but has a front beer garden which always has plenty of people. The service is as you would expect and its a well kept pub with their beers well looked after. This is what you would call a little gem and a must visit if your in Stamford anytime.

This is a delightful 'no frills' pub with huge and very tasty burgers as their speciality. The staff are chatty and kind, whilst the atmosphere is fun. We had a chicken burger, which was really two generous portions of chicken breast, and a second 'special of the day', a yummy pork and choritzo burger. Both were large and enjoyable. Worth a visit.

Personally I don't find pubs all that exciting. As someone who is unable to drink alcholic drinks, I usually find the whole experience a bit hollow. Not anyone's fault but my own, but still I don't really get much out of them. However one of my favourite places to go on a Sunday evening is this place.

My husband wanted to visit due to a CAMRA recommendation. We both enjoyed our visits. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and my husband loved the beer choices. We picked up some beermats for a friend who is a serious collector, and some pump clips which were no longer wanted. There's outside seating and parking. Well recommended.

This pub has for the second time won CAMRA pub of the year for the Peterborough District and for a good reason. They have an excellent range of real ales on tap from local beers to beers from Lancashire and Yorkshire but the owner has a micro-brewery in Ketton called Bakers Dozen. We had his new American Brown Ale today and it was as close of beer perfection as anything I can imagine. We're looking forward to going back and trying more of his beers. We were only here for the beer so I can't review the food this time. I'll do that in 3 months.

This was always our go to place for brunch and we were regular visitors Last two times… Had quiche and salad - quiche bottom was soggy and inedible, informed waitress who said that she would tell the chef and that’s likely to happen with the type of filling… ok soo stuff happens On next visit had soup and it was tasteless, no one came to check how the meal was and not possible to stop someone as busy busy. Ate the bread and left the soup. Mentioned it wasn’t good and couldn’t eat it when we paid, just said “oh sorry about that” And carried on We paid in full but was more disappointed in the way our feedback was taken… eg dismissed. could def be improved upon… same waitress both times Sadly we haven’t been back

Very nice spot for a lunch in a busy market square in a lovely town - where we wanted somewhere independent and with a bit of character. Found a table outside which was a perfect holiday moment spot. Good choice of sandwiches, good coffee. Best part though was climbing the stairs to the top floor of the ancient building to find the loo.

Been here several times for breakfast and lunch Lovely food, friendly staff and good coffee Nicely done out inside too If I was to have one criticism it’s the tea… it’s weak and I think you should offer a more “robust” bag for those that like strong tea Apart from not everyone wanting posh tea bags this is now our “go to brunch place” for good , hot and yummy food I can always drink the coffee instead!!

We were warmly welcomed by Casey, who talked us through the menu options, checking if we had any allergies. We selected the mango & lime chicken breast with homemade slaw, spinach and rice. Beautifully cooked and thoroughly enjoyable. We are unable to fault the the way we were welcomed and served by Casey, the quality and value of the food. We entered when they opened and hence, were the only patrons, so rated the atmosphere as okay. In passing, the choice of background music was very enjoyable.
