We were on holiday in the lake district and as we were married in Ulverston we wanted to pay a visit to the town. We liked the look of the frontage of "Poppies" . So decided to call in. My husband ordered a currant scone and I had carrot cake. The cake was just freshly made .I can honestly say I have never eaten a carrot cake tasting as good as this. It was beautiful. Hubby said his scone was lovely too. We ordered two coffees and they were hot and tasty. The staff were very friendly and chatty. A lovely experience.

I came with a friend who unfortunately became unwell not long into the experience menu and she couldn't continue eating (not related to the food which was lovely!). We explained to the team, and they advised that we still had to pay for the experience and the cocktail flight for her, whilst I continued with mine. I can understand paying for the food as I'm sure a lot had been pre-prepared and ordered in etc but to continue to charge for the drinks instead of charging us for the two cocktails that had been served so far did leave a sour taste in our mouths. I will say the food was brilliant and the servers were lovely. The brisket was my favourite, the duck my least favourite dish. I would still definitely recommend the restaurant but I did think the customer service might be a bit more accommodating.

We have tried Moomaid of Zennor ice cream before and we were not impressed but today at Porthtowan there was no other ice cream on offer so we thought we would try a different flavour. We both had espresso martini. We expected it to taste of coffee at least but it was pretty flavourless and not at all creamy. That was the last time will will buy Moomaid of Zennor.

We were staying close by for a few days so decided to try here on our way home from Whitby. The pub is dog friendly which is always a bonus. The welcome from the owner was fantastic and he couldn’t do enough for us and our 2 dogs. The menu is excellent with something for everyone, with a good selection of veggie options. I had the koftas and my wife had the lamb casserole both of which were excellent. Highly recommended

Me and my girlfriend have been on and off going here for a while, but sadly today was a poor experience. Living local, it’s an ideal dog-walking location to then stop in and have a bite to eat. Sadly, today was not a good experience. We walked in the main entrance and saw a couple of reserved tables and some that did not have reserved on them. With the front being very busy and people loitering, it’s not an ideal place for two people and a dog to stand when there are already about 8 other people standing. Immediately when we saw a table with no reserved sign, we went to sit down. Unfortunately, a young blonde lady asked, “Can I help you?” with a poor tone and, frankly, quite a rude and abrupt attitude. The other lady with dark hair sat us down, but by that point, it was, in my opinion, a sour atmosphere left from the previous staff member. A simple “Hi guys” or “Hello, how are you?” and then, after exchanging pleasantries, checking if there is a seat available would have made all the difference. In the end, we decided to leave before ordering. We told the blonde lady, who said, “I am sorry to hear that,” to which I replied, “Next time, work on your manners when people come in.” Disappointed, as the food is genuinely quite good, but unfortunately today, I am afraid you have lost a customer for the future! **T-Post replied on their Facebook page to the same review below, with my replies being calm and honest. The reason I am posting this here is because I want people to see what an organisation does when they lie about how customers act. When there was CCTV which shows myself and my girlfriend getting up and leaving calmly and how they reply and speak to people that have been mistreated in their establishment. please see their reply attached.. as you can see it was completely mishandled by the owners/management and my review stands justified. If the owners will speak like this from criticism and feedback and If owners and management will speak to customers or former customers like this and allow staff to act like this with this mentality, then my review is honest and quite frankly it will be down to the calibre of who they employ. ** **to further add TPost have said they will release the CCTV footage which I agree with**

What a delightful find Renoufs was! We are lucky to travel around Europe a lot and we both enjoy our “tapas and wines”, or whatever the local equivalents are, and so finding somewhere of such quality in Wimborne was wonderful! Superb cheeses, really superb, and the best range of wines I’ve seen anywhere in U.K. outside of ridiculously over priced London places. You’ve got to try the wine flights!! We got try experience 9 different wines! Where else can you do that with quality wine?? And to cap it all off they have delightful staff and a really buzzing atmosphere……..but make sure you book as it’s busy! (maybe I shouldn’t write such a glowing review in case WE can’t get a table 😂)

These guys need a lesson in manners and customer service. I understand it’s not a great job stuck in a smelly van all day but at least treat your customers better. Food is bang average and you’ll need to remortgage your house to pay for it. £25 for 2 chicken wraps??? Absolute clowns mate!!!
