Always a delight to visit the station cafe in Knaresborough ! Great owner and staff who always give you a warm welcome . A lot of railway memorabilia adds to the character ! Sausage sandwich went down very well and kept me going while I further explored the town ! Highly recommended ! 😊

We spent the day in Knaresborough for the first time today and visited the Old Ticket Office cafe. Their homemade cheese scones were served with homemade chutney made with homegrown veg, the scones were huge too. Both were absolutely delicious and the coffee was fantastic too. The Old Ticket Office is a lovely little tearoom cum cafe situated on the platform of Knaresborough’s delightful railway station. As you would expect, the cafe is furnished in a distinctly railway style with lots of memorabilia. They offer a nice selection of hot and cold snacks, cakes etc., and a good range of teas and coffees. We enjoyed a large pot of tea and a fabulous lemon citrus Bakewell cake. Service is efficient and charming and, as local residents, we are fortunate in that we will be able to visit this lovely cafe more often. (Can’t wait to try the breakfast!).

It makes a change to meet real people with lots to talk about. We could have stayed there a lot longer than we did. Thank you for making our day really nice. Hopefully we’ll be back soon.

Stopped today for a hot breakfast sandwich and tea . The cafe was cold 🥶 no heating on at all . The tea cups and saucers were stained, and that made them look grubby, they needed de tanning. We ordered one bacon and one sausage sandwich asked for them to be cooked well done. When they came the bread was cold and felt like it was not fresh , it also made the sandwiches lose heat very quickly and the fat solidified , the tea was cold in minutes because it was so cold in the cafe . The sausage was good quality but needed cooking longer for us . Hp sauce was missing, again just our preference to the brown sauce that was served. The price was good value. Large cobwebs on the old suitcase above. Sorry we could not give 5 stars. It was missing attention to detail and warmth.

We had crossed the border from my native Lancashire, still had lots of Yorkshire to go so we were both fearful and apprehensive, especially as we had forgotten our passports. All this was quite exhausting and it was also approaching lunchtime.I asked my phone about cafes in Knaresborough. It told me wonderful things about the scones at The Old Ticket Office. I am something of an aficionado of scones and I have to tell you that I am almost always disappointed. If the scones are not from a supermarket they are frequently antique or at least several days old. These sounded promising. And I was not to be disappointed. The scones were barely 20 minutes old, they were plumptious and they were extremely tasty. I had a cherry scone but there were two other types and it is a great sadness to me that I did not have the capacity to try the others. Rest assured this will happen someday because I will not pass Knaresborough again without being lured to this wonderful little cafe. The two young ladies who were running the place were delightfully friendly and helpful. A credit to their scones. My wife enjoyed her hot sandwich and we were both happy with our drinks. A great find.Vic Heaney, Author of Vic's Big Walk from SW France to NW England

I called in for a cuppa and a snack while waiting for my train. It is the most delightful cafe inside. So quirky that people come in just to take photos of the train memorabilia as it was the original ticket office. The lovely owners are accommodating of this. They even let non customers use the toilets for a donation to charity. My drink and snack were quickly served and delicious. As I was alone I welcomed their friendly chat about where I was going and they then gave me some great advice about alternative train routes etc. This is much more than just a cafe. On a recent trip to Knaresborough we stumbled across this little cafe. It was a freezing cold day and we went inside for a warm drink and a homemade scone. We emerged two hours later. Its a family business run by Amy and her Mum they are so interested in their customers, where they come from in our case Liverpool and so welcoming. Not only was the food and coffee good we were introduced to some locals and had such a good time we had to tear ourselves away. Good quality home made food served by people who care about their customers. I had almost thought this type of place had disappeared under the relentless march of chains. The difference between here and the mainstream offering is remarkable. Not least of all price. Why go somewhere with less to offer in terms of quality and quantity and pay considerably more ? Great views from the windows also. Lots of railway bits and bobs around the place decor wise in keeping with the location. I consider that any visit to the National railway Museum should include a trip here if possible as it recreates the ambiance of rail travel more than the museum ever manages to. With better food and drink on offer also. Best cafe in Knaresborough. Long may it continue to prosper

I hadn't realised there was a café on Knaersborough Station but was a fabulous find it was - quaint, homely and friendly. It offered a great selection of lunches and afternoon delights at good prices. We chose afternoon tea. We were offered a choice of sandwiches and a choice of cake but having opted for the traditional scone, what a surprise to see the size of it! It arrived with plenty of jam and cream and tea was topped off with any choice of hot drink rather than just a cup of tea. The staff are wonderful - so friendly and warm - a delight to chat with. The café stretches through a couple of rooms all of which are decorated with quaint railway memorabilia and other trinkets. There is reading material and a couple of Thomas the Tank Engine's for children to share whilst there. This café is well worth a visit even if an afternoon down by the river is planned.

The old Station Master’s office and two other rooms have comfortable seating for patrons and are full of railway memorabilia. Scones just out of the oven with jam and clotted cream-delicious. Cafetières of coffee with lots of warm milk were very tasty. Service from owner and her daughter was friendly and efficient. Looking forward to having a light lunch or afternoon tea on next visit.

Best Ginger Cake Ever🙂 I tried to leave you a five star review but unfortunately the system wouldn’t allow me - I received a message saying reviews were disabled.
