Sadly a really disappointing experience. Very expensive for what we got. We went for afternoon tea. The bread in the sandwiches was dry, the lemon drizzle didn’t taste like lemon drizzle, the choux bun was raw and the scones were like bread rolls. The pizza was nice and the lemon tarts were too. We didn’t get asked if we wanted refills or more water and there was no atmosphere. We left feeling very disappointed ☹️

Absolutely amazing! Beautiful decor, the two young ladies that were serving were so so lovely, professional and polite. My Sister and I took our Mam for an early birthday afternoon tea, everything was just perfect and tasted delicious. . The scones were 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽😋 It was lovely to see Sophie the owner too, thank you to Sophie and her team for a 10/10 afternoon tea 👏🏽

Lovely tearoom staff were very welcoming and friendly . Tea room was very cold definitely needed a burst of heating on . Food was very bland no wow factor very basic not worth the money or another visit

Came here today with my mum and autistic daughter for a belated birthday treat of afternoon tea and all I can say is that it was beautiful. The cakes were stunning and just felt so comfortable in a friendly atmosphere. My daughter towards the end of our visit started to get overwhelmed before we left yet we were promptly told by the kitchen staff that from September, they would be starting a SEN hour which blew me away. For that reason alone, I will definitely be looking to go back!! What a wonderful first experience of afternoon tea I’ve had today

The food was average and they had run out of Prosecco despite knowing we were a hen do. However, the reason I would not return is the poor attitude by who I can only assume is the owner when we overran, threatening to charge us for overstaying our welcome. The reason we were delayed leaving was because only one toilet was usable (one of them didn’t have a toilet seat!) and the queue to pay. When I explained this she threatened to check the CCTV to see how long we had been waiting. Would not return because of the attitude and there are much nicer (and more elegant) places to get afternoon tea in Cheltenham.

I was SO excited to come here but left a little disappointed. I had the dairy free option which I totally understand is a difference. The sandwiches and scones were delicious and my husband's cakes also looked delicious! I however only had 1 cake option which was super dry and felt like such a let down. I would suggest maybe making a couple of vegan/dairy free cakes as they can be served to anyone and taste exactly the same as normal cakes so that others don't miss out!

Genuinely lovely from start to finish. Wanted to book afternoon tea here for Mothers’ Day, but had left it too late. However, got a text to say a table would be available the day before. Didn’t see the message for several hours, so thought I might have missed out - but no! They’d kept the table for me until I could reply, which was fantastic. As for the afternoon tea itself - huge pots of tea, and great choice of sandwiches & cakes plus freshly baked scones. Service excellent - friendly & attentive without being too much. Environment lovely too. Would highly recommend.

Booked for 3 of us to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. 2 normal afternoon teas and one gluten free. All were very good, plenty of food and unlimited tea! Staff were very friendly and efficient. By far the nicest GF cream tea I have experienced with different breads, scones and cakes. Cakes all made fresh by the owners, and I was even given some additional cake to take home! We will definitely be back.

We went for the birthday crafternoon tea to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We had winch a lovely time. The staff accommodated our little one perfectly. Sorting her a few sandwich’s o arrival to stop her getting hungry or eating all the biscuits we were decorating. Everything f we tried was perfect. And as there was so much we bought some home in boxes. Great service with friendly staff , lovely food and a nice atmosphere. We will be back soon.

We literally stumbled upon this establishment while walking from our holiday rental into town and are so glad we did. Beautiful setting and the afternoon tea is just divine'.....just perfect in place of a light lunch. We'll be back

I cannot recommend once upon a tea room enough. Their customer service and food is excellent! We ordered a brunch from here and it didn’t just stop at their standard brunch. They wanted to know the theme of the baby shower, so this could be included. The amount of food you get in 1 box for two people, went far further than that. Thank you so much the mummy to be (and guests) we're thrilled ❤️

Amazing afternoon tea!! We visited with a family group, and were completely overawed by the wonderful cakes, sandwiches, scones and tea we were served. We have never had such light Victoria sponge, the scones were feather light and extremely tasty with lovely strawberry jam and clotted cream, and the sandwiches had amazing and tasty fillings. A large selection of teas is available. The service was very attentive without being intrusive, and the attention to all details was evident. The decor is understated but very pretty.

We had the most amazing time doing the Bridal Crafternoon Tea. Despite being accidentally late for our booking, the manager was so accommodating and still ensured we got the most out of our time there. You get lots of equipment and biscuits to decorate and the actual food was delicious and plentiful. The venue itself is so pretty and I even got to take my decorative flowers home too. I couldn’t be more glad that we picked Once Upon a Tearoom as a hen do activity for my big weekend. It was definitely the highlight and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you to you all! I booked a table to celebrate my friends baby shower and honestly couldn't have wished for a better venue! The staff were very attentive, easy to contact and more than happy to accommodate the extra decorations I'd arranged. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was just perfect, we all had such an amazing time. I'd highly recommend a visit!

We organised afternoon teas from here for a small group of us to meet online. All were absolutely fantastic. Everything was of the highest quality, right down to the packaging. We had a variety of fully filled sandwiches, a scone with decent sized pots of clotted cream and jam, a macaroon, grapes, a brownie and two slices of cake. Plus of course a cold drink and a tea and coffee pack. Just wonderful. Can’t wait to try something else from the range on offer.

I was just please they did deliver that far.I dropped a star as I was given a delivery slot of 5pm-7pm and it turned up at 10:30am. This meant my wife - who I was surprising - answered the door because I was not expecting it then. I actually got the dispatch message at 12:30pm... two hours after it arrived.Cannot fault the food, it was delicious and will most certainly be visiting the cafe when lockdown rules allow.Oh, if the team read this, please give a smoked salmon option for the sandwiches. We ordered an afternoon tea for my mother’s 71st birthday during lockdown. On the day it had snowed and the roads were not good. The tea was delivered on foot and I was amazed it got to us.Everything was packed beautifully, there was more then enough cake for that day and the next. It was a good selection of sandwich’s and a fantastic selection of cakes. All the cakes were moist and delicious. We also had tea, coffee, proper milk in sachets and cold drinks of our choice.I will be definitely be recommending Once upon a tea time and will be using them again. It was a proper treat and great value for money.

I don’t usually write reviews but for Once upon a tea room I made an exception. The owner Sophie always goes above and beyond to make your experience perfect, she is lovely and very passionate about to her work which shows in her homely treats she bakes. I have had the pleasure of having going to the pudding club, tried her cheese selection boards and have also had the thick chocolate, all of which I would thoroughly recommend.If you are looking for a homely and welcoming place to take your mum, partner or anyone for lovely experience in the heart of Cheltenham, then please go to once upon a tea room. My friends gave us a voucher for Once Upon a Tea Room to celebrate our wedding. We ordered a Birthday afternoon tea and it was delicious. If I were to be picky, I would say that the sandwiches were quite dry and lacked flavour, but the cakes were fantastic. Really well baked and a lovely selection. Fab delivery and wonderful customer service! I would recommend!

As we were unable to go out and celebrate my husband’s birthday, we had the afternoon tea at home. The delivery arrived on time and the food was fresh and delicious. The sandwiches and cakes were perfect and there was plenty left. Thank you, it made the day special.

Superb dessert platter for one- which comfortably fed two! Delivered on time, and was absolutely delicious. I had followed the tea room on Instagram, after they provided a wonderful birthday cake for my friends daughter, and as my birthday fell in lockdown 2, I felt this would be a suitable way to celebrate! I wasn’t wrong- the food was generously portioned and tasted beautiful! It felt like a real treat. I can’t wait to visit in person when they open up again properly. If I were to make a recommendation (and it is only a very minor one) it would be to include a note of what I was eating, so I could order it again!

an absolutely splendiferous selection of the finest tasting pudding to amaze and delight, This was my first pudding box but not my last, so many treats spread out over many days, Ive had different boxes from once upon a tearoom and have never been disappointed with any, I am a repeat customer and highly recommend them to anyone, pre covid we have visited the tearoom also and that was also delightful, Looking forward to taking a trip over when things are normal again but till then I shall happily purchase boxes
