The best restaurants serving Japanese food in London

Sashimi taco and dragon roll are nice - would order again. Beef onglet and lamb chop are well cooked, would be better with different seasoning. Beef and sour radish don't go together.

A very tasty and very reasonable meal bang in the centre of London. I had the pork noodles, the octopus ball, the soft shell crab, the pumpkin tempura plus an Asahi bottled beer and water and it was all delicious. The total was less than 30 pounds. The space is very clean and the service is smiley, fast and efficient.

No recuerdo quién me habló de este restaurante hace tantos años y no habíamos tenido la oportunidad de probar a pesar de que caminamos por él con frecuencia en el camino a Kensington desde Chelsea. Lo conseguimos en una reserva 930 en un viernes día de decisión de última hora antes y simplemente nos encantó nuestra “noche de citas”. Sentado en el bar de sushi con vista directa del chef y la magia que se estaba creando. Nos encantó la experiencia y la comida era divina.

We've been to Sushi Masa three times now, and never disappointed. Their sushi is better than some of central's best offerings. Our platters were beautifully crafted, and we savoured each piece! The restaurant itself is nice with lovely decor, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Recommended and will definitely will be coming again.

A very busy spot—clearly a popular place! There are plenty of seats, but it does get quite noisy, so it’s not the most relaxed atmosphere. That said, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a quick, affordable lunch. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. I ordered ramen and a sushi bento, which came with miso soup. The fish was fresh, and everything tasted solid for the price. Staff were friendly and efficient too. Overall, a good value sushi place—perfect for a casual, no-fuss meal.

The best food and the best service!

Ordered a 'kotteri' tonkotsu ramen here. For context, kotteri is supposed to be a richer version of the standard tonkotsu soup. The noodles and the toppings were fine, but the soup was not rich enough to live up to the kotteri descriptor. If anything, the thickness, or lack thereof is more comparable to a shio ramen than tonkotsu, let alone kotteri. For a bowl that cost more than their standard tonkotsu I expected the soup to be actually rich. This kind of quality is only good for fooling people who have never had an authentic bowl of ramen.

Extremely disappointed in the ramen. First time ever experienced ramen soup that’s warm not hot and the tofu was warm on the surface and cold in the inside. That’s a disgrace. The saving grace was when I relayed the complaint to the server at getting the check, she on her own waived the cost of the mushroom ramen of my friend and only charged my pork bone soup ramen. But I’d not return.

Great Japanese food, amazing service, place little bit small…

I had a genuinely shocking experience at Wagamama Marlborough yesterday. I ordered the lighter chicken broth noodle soup, expecting a comforting, clear bone broth that had been simmered for hours — the kind of thing that feels nourishing and subtle. Instead, what I got was literally just water with flavouring. It tasted like an MSG-heavy stock cube dissolved in hot water, with none of the depth or care you'd expect. It was so disappointing — actually shocking — that I forgot to even ask for a refund. I've been a fan of Wagamama since 2006, but this really felt like the end of the road. There are now so many better places to get a proper light chicken soup — Pho, for example, actually understand broth. Wagamama can't even get a simple light chicken broth right anymore. Never again will I waste money here.

Average sushi good value for money service is quick, the conveyor is great sushi is freshly prepared in front of you.

Wonderful location, very close to our hotel when we stayed in Kingston. Ended up going there 3/4 nights!

Johann was warm and welcoming - saying hello as soon as I walked in, he got my chopsticks ready and even helped with filling up my water bottle - nothing was too much trouble and he made it a nice experience. The food was tasty and hot and much appreciated after a long day! Thank you.

Amazing food and service. This is a hidden gem in the area. The sashimi salad was refreshing and contained quite a lot of sashimi too. The udon noodles were bouncy and the sushi were good too.

Little selection of Japanese items, sashimi counter smelt of old fish. Does not live up to the high quality of atariya. Full refurb is required and needs to keep up with the quality and choices of new Japanese shops in London. I would not visit again.
