Have enjoyed visiting Eat Tokyo in London for a number of years, and it's always been a good choice. I particularly like their bento boxes (the chicken and salmon one being my favourite). Have added photos of the bento box menus to help others. The place itself is quite small and 'cosy', which is good and bad. But the staff are courteous, food is great, and things reasonably priced - so a big thumbs up from me 😃

MORE AT Google

Eat Tokyo in Holborn is a popular spot for authentic Japanese cuisine in the heart of London. Known for its extensive menu and affordable prices, it’s a go-to destination for sushi lovers, ramen enthusiasts, and anyone craving traditional Japanese flavors. This bustling restaurant offers a casual dining experience that’s perfect for both quick lunches and more leisurely dinners with friends or family. The menu at Eat Tokyo is impressively broad, with a wide range of sushi, sashimi, donburi, and noodle dishes. Each dish is carefully crafted, and the freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite. The sushi, in particular, is a standout, with generous portions and beautifully prepared fish that rivals some of the more upscale sushi spots in the city. Their sushi rolls and nigiri come in a variety of options, from the classic salmon and tuna to more creative rolls that add a twist to traditional flavors. Additionally, their bento boxes are a great way to sample a little of everything, offering a well-balanced meal that includes sushi, tempura, and other classic Japanese bites. Ramen and udon lovers will also find plenty to enjoy. The ramen is rich and flavorful, with a broth that’s simmered to perfection and paired with tender noodles and a choice of toppings. Whether you go for the spicy miso or the classic tonkotsu, each bowl is satisfying and hearty, perfect for colder days. The udon dishes are equally delightful, featuring thick, chewy noodles in a comforting broth that brings out the umami flavors beautifully. Beyond the food, the ambiance at Eat Tokyo is vibrant and bustling, reflecting its popularity. The interior is simple and straightforward, but it works well for the restaurant’s casual style. There’s a strong sense of authenticity here, which makes you feel like you’re stepping into a local eatery in Tokyo. The open kitchen is a nice touch, allowing diners to watch the chefs at work and adding to the lively atmosphere. Service is prompt and efficient, though it can get quite busy during peak hours, so it’s worth booking a table in advance if you’re visiting during lunch or dinner rush. One of the best things about Eat Tokyo is its value for money. For the quality and portion sizes offered, the prices are very reasonable, making it accessible to both students and professionals in the area. It’s rare to find Japanese restaurants in central London that combine quality with affordability, but Eat Tokyo manages to strike that balance perfectly. In terms of drinks, they offer a selection of Japanese beers, sake, and teas that complement the meal well. The sake menu includes a few interesting options that are worth trying, especially if you’re looking to explore traditional Japanese beverages. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, the green tea is a refreshing choice that pairs nicely with the flavors of the meal. Overall, Eat Tokyo in Holborn is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine without breaking the bank. Its extensive menu, high-quality ingredients, and affordable prices make it a standout in London’s Japanese dining scene. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or a ramen enthusiast, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. With its convenient location and consistently excellent food, Eat Tokyo is a place you’ll want to visit again and again. Highly recommended for anyone in the area or willing to travel for a great Japanese meal.

This branch of Eat Tokyo is a 5-10 min walk from Holborn station in a street strangely dominated by Asian restaurants. It's a really cramped place, with tables crammed into several small spaces on three floors. The were six of us and I had to sit at one end of our table due to a step to a raised area. The menu is contained within an astonishingly large book that contains photos of all their staff and other restaurants in the chain. The reason for going is the consistently good quality of very reasonably priced, authentic Japanese food. We ordered an extensive variety of dishes and ended up paying £25 (which included service and a large draught beer). The service is efficient and pleasant (although we were brought a bento box that belonged to another table).

During my stay in London, I was searching for an authentic Japanese culinary experience, and I found exactly that at Eat Tokyo in High Holborn. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by experienced sushi masters, and the atmosphere, along with the décor, instantly transports you to Japan. The menu is impressive, offering a wide variety of options - from sushi, ramen, and bento boxes to tonkatsu and bowls. I ordered nigiri with salmon, eel, and tuna, which were incredibly delicate and flavorful. Accompanied by uramaki (salmon and tuna) and futomaki with shrimp, the meal was perfectly rounded off with mochi for dessert, in mango and matcha flavours. A unique touch was the grapefruit lemonade with a splash of alcohol, which you can customize by adding fresh grapefruit yourself. The staff were friendly and attentive, making my experience even better. Eat Tokyo is a place that combines excellent food with an authentic Japanese atmosphere. I will definitely return to explore other locations of this chain in London!

The food hygiene at this restaurant is terrible. Truly. Do not eat here. I wandered down the alley next to the restaurant and peeked in at the back and saw fish sitting on the floor in an old box, right next to a dirty mop and container of Domestos bleach! Surely this isn't legal? A little later I saw a large piece of tuna fish wrapped in plastic wrap sitting on the floor! I couldn't believe my eyes. When I took a photo the kitchen worker picked it up. I did not dine in at the restaurant this time, but I have eaten there a few times before and know what to expect. However, I decided to order through UberEats on this occasion, and what I received for £62 was quite surprising. For the Otoro sashimi, I was expecting at least four pieces, as that's what I typically receive when dining in but I got 3 as you can see in the photo. Additionally, I paid £28 for Uni, but what I received was disappointing only 3 pieces,As you can see from the photo, the quantity and quality are shockingly inadequate. Do you think the price is reasonable? Why is the portion size not the same as when dining in, even though the price remains the same? When I dine in, I receive more for the same price. If the portions are reduced for delivery orders, shouldn't the price be adjusted accordingly?

Being able to watch the chefs work is always something I enjoy, and being able to see the food being prepared really adds to the experience. We really enjoyed the food. I LOVED the agedashi tofu it was absolutely perfect. It was crispy yet soft, and the flavour almost felt addicting (even enough so that we decided to order take out a few days later before we left London) The fish was also really delicious and tasted so freah, there is a variety of different sashimi which is really refreshing. I recently visited "EAT TOKYO" in Holborn and had an exceptional dining experience. I started with the chicken and salmon teriyaki bento box, which offered a perfect balance of savory teriyaki flavors and tender, juicy meat. The miso soup was a comforting prelude, rich with umami and just the right amount of tofu and seaweed. The fried squid legs were delightfully crispy without being overly greasy, and the fried chicken was a standout with its juicy interior and perfectly seasoned crispy exterior. The crispy soft shell crab sushi and Chef Lin's special sushi were both highlights, showcasing fresh ingredients and expertly crafted rolls. For dessert, the strawberry cheesecake mochi was a refreshing finish, with a creamy, strawberry-infused filling encased in chewy mochi. The ambiance of EAT TOKYO was cozy and inviting, making it a fantastic spot for enjoying authentic Japanese cuisine in the heart of London. The floor manager and all the staff were very friendly and suggestive, offering excellent recommendations. The menu was impressively large, providing a wide array of options at amazing and affordable prices. The best part is, you can dine at a sushi bar for the most pocket friendly prices!

Always good service in the Eat Tokyo branch in Soho, Notting Hill, and Bond street, but the waitresses here were very rude. I came on Saturday night for a seat for 7 and understandably needed to wait a long time - and I honestly wouldn’t have minded if I was told that they couldn’t accommodate 7 in such short notice. However, the waitress was short and rude and told us to wait without keeping us updated throughout. No one was managing the line outside too, and I had to direct every new guest coming to ensure they form a line… haha. Thought the rude service wasn’t worth the wait, so left for another restaurant.

I've been coming to Eat Tokyo for well over 15 years, and the Holborn branch in particular. I've started frequenting the Covent Garden branch as well with friends as it's close to my new office. Both branches are run by Mr Minto, who has always been a great host and we are always extremely well looked after by him and his staff. I loved in Japan for 3 years, 30 minutes north of Shinjuku. All the best times I had were in Izakayas, where the drinks were cheap and the food was delicious. You could sit there for hours, ordering a little at a time, each dish as great as the previous one. Izakayas don't specialise in one particular dish, but they don't a variety of dishes very well. The range of dishes you can get at East Tokyo is without rival, no other Japanese restaurant will give you the variety of dishes you can order here. There are dishes you can only order here, no other place will do it. And they reflect the dishes you would get when in Japan and at a local or chain Izakaya restaurant. One of my favourites is the Kaki Frai (deep fried oysters), which is a Kyoto speciality dish. Everything is great here, sushi/sashimi is a must, they have won awards for their dragon rolls. I have made the mistake of trying newly opened 'izakayas', which all have left me deeply disappointed. We will continue to be regulars here, we have never had a disappointing meal. If you're looking for great, authentic Japanese food at an incredibly affordable price, you won't find any better than here. Save your time and effort and give it a visit. I promise that you'll love it as much as we do.

We were greeted by an EXTREMELY RUDE waitress with a strong accent who was speaking really fast. My girlfriend walked in first and I didn’t hear what the waitress said. I said sorry she just repeated what she just said really fast and I still couldn’t understand so I just said sorry again. She then proceeded to just STARE at me for 10-15 seconds. During our dinner she kept shouting and shouting. Why is she the only one shouting? None of the other staff were shouting. She was not wearing a name tag, I tried to look for her name in the menu as there was the name of other chefs but she wasn’t there. I will not go there again, if you want to eat at eat Tokyo just go to another branch where I am sure the service will be much much better.

Very good Japanese food, the menu is very thick, there are so many choices, there will be a choice barrier. The service is also good and the food is served quickly. But the restaurant is very small and there are a lot of people. It’s not suitable to stay there for too long. Just leave as soon as you finish eating.

The food is delicious with a lot of options. Fish was fresh and soft. Amazing! The place is tiny and you might want to reserve a table before going just to make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to eat amazing Japanese food!

Appalling service. Bland and tasteless food. The noodles were hard and cold. Bad communication due to poor English. Not a good knowledge of what is in the food. Very dissatisfied and disappointing experience

Tried the place once out of curiosity and it quickly became one of my favourite places to eat in London. Staff is super friendly, atmosphere is nice and food is incredibly delicious

Super friendly staff and very fresh sushi! Definitely one of the best sushis I’ve had and I will definitely be coming back
