Witness the chef of this restaurant coughing and spitting all over the street in his food safety shoes and clothes that legally are not meant to be worn out of the kitchen! I would be weary of this place

It took over 30 minutes for the food to come out (the customers who came behind us got their food first, and while we were waiting, everyone who went in before us ate and left). I just waited and went in, but the food took a long time, so I suddenly put a tick on the table for a reserved table. When they said the food wasn't coming, they just kept apologizing and asking me to wait. Thanks to this, my schedule was all postponed and I couldn't do anything. Later, he apologized for making me wait and gave me some sashimi, but I don't think I would have been offended if you had just told me the reason why he was late... It was really left abandoned. The taste is just average at a Japanese restaurant (the salmon tastes like Costco salmon) so there's no need to come all the way to the UK. The quantity is really large. There are a lot of people. Must wait.

Good food and good value. The serving was big as we had some bento boxes and it was worth it. The only thing is there is a wait to get in and have a seat. Otherwise the service was ok. Ambience wise it was not bad either. Lovely Japanese food.

Eat Tokyo is renowned for its reasonably priced and delectable cuisine, making it my preferred destination whenever I have a craving for Japanese food, given their numerous locations throughout London. However, I seem to be one of the "lucky" customers at this particular establishment. During my three visits to this branch, I was consistently served by the same server who, remarkably, on each occasion, forgets to input one or two of our orders into the system. Consequently, we had to repeatedly check with him to confirm whether the dishes would be served. While it is possible that this oversight is due to the high volume of customers at the store, there is ample opportunity for improvement in their customer service, as I have not encountered such issues at other branches.

Delicious food.Always fresh. Rice is perfectly cooked, sushi is freshly rolled. Teriyaki Salmon is always our favourite. Sashimi is always fresh and decent potions It pays to book otherwise there is a long wait in the queue outside, on both sides of Old Compton St. Only downside is that it's always packed and noisy with people's chatter. Not the place to go for a quiet night. Service can be a little slow , but considering it's always full with lines of people wanting outside, they do really well. The miso soup is also devine. The prawn dumplings were also fresh and very tasty. Certainly worth a visit if you love Japanese food.

I went to this place twice already in the last couple of years. My conclusion is that the sushi is nothing special and a bit overpriced for the quality. Maybe the other non-sushi dishes are very good, but both time I had sushi and felt overpriced for what it was. The queue tends to be very long, so I recommend booking in advance.

The foods are very yummy and nice, but their have too many people waiting outside. So, revember if you want to come to this restaurant, you must book it before you go, and it can help you save lots of time of waiting outside to getting in. I recommend the sashimi 刺身 it is very nice, and people can buy a set. This is quite a value of money. Hope this comment can help you. Also, you must go ONTIME. The food is always always excellent at great value. With so many branches, you have no excuse to try something on their vast menu. The hosts are usually nice, and there is a cute head chef intro in the menus. The staff on this occasion were not great, leaving us unattended, giving us the bill before we were ready and just taking a long time to bring us all our food (we had to chase for some dishes midway through the meal as it still hadn't come) but honestly, top tier food in central. Have been going to this branch for a few years, and the quality and size of food have gone down the hills recently. They have increased prices quite a bit (averaging £3 to £5 increase) which is normal for most restaurants in Soho, but the size and quality have dropped. I have ordered the set meals: sashimi rice (pieces of assorted raw fish pieces on rice) and pork cutlets on rice. Both came with miso soup. The sashimi rice size is very small, I’m pretty sure they used the kids size bento box and the fish pieces are not fresh (most likely cut out in the morning or day before). The miso soup were lukewarm. The pork cutlet (fried with egg) definitely dropped in size, in the same size with the sashimi box. The pork is super dry and taste awful. The rice is not great, and just generally a very disappointing experience. Will not visit again for this price point.

I recently visited Eat Tokyo in Soho and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food. The standout dish for me was the katsu curry, which was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. The crispy breaded pork cutlet combined with the rich, savory curry sauce made for a perfect comfort meal. One thing to note is the portion size. I ordered the double portion of katsu curry, and it was massive! While great for those with a big appetite, it might be a bit overwhelming for others. Despite this, the taste and quality were consistently excellent throughout the dish. The rest of the menu at Eat Tokyo was also very appealing, with a wide variety of options that cater to all tastes. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and beautifully presented, adding to the overall dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively and authentic, capturing the essence of a traditional Japanese eatery. The service was prompt and attentive, making us feel welcome and well cared for. One minor downside was that the restaurant can get quite busy, leading to a slightly noisy environment. However, this did not detract significantly from our enjoyment. Overall, Eat Tokyo offers fantastic food and a great dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone in Soho. Rating: 8.5/10

I don’t normally like going to chains, but Ear Tokyo is the exception. It’s a chain, yes, but, as all the things from Japan, the quality of the food is simply excellent, consistent, and offers fantastic food at reasonable prices. I forgot to take pics, but we had 2 bento boxes and a prawn tempura plus spinach in a Japanese sauce, and Asahi beer. There is normally a huge queue to get in at all times in this branch in Old Compton Street, in Soho, but, thanks to a football match, yesterday it was possible to go straight in and be seated immediately. The service is nice, fast and efficient. I highly recommend it.

We came to Eat Tokyo soho and ordered food at 16.01 on 22/06. At 16.55 we got part of our order served. When I asked when the rest of food is coming I was told ‘too long maybe’ ‘if you want I can cancel the rest of your order.’ Waiting for sushi for an hour and leaving hungry because we didn’t want to wait for ‘maybe too long’ again is really dissapointing. We are our sushi within 5 mins and left. It was supposed to be a special lunch for my mom and myself. Instead we were tired and hungry at the end. When I asked our server ‘why we weren’t informed in advance about waiting times’ he blamed his colleagues for not informing. Also when I asked for wifi password I was told it’s not for customers. But there was no signal! Really dissatisfying experience. Would not recommend. Attaching receipt to show that we really went.

Very affordable and good food for a Japanese restaurant in Soho, a wide range of items from hot to cold food and sushi. Quite narrow seating wise so better not come here with a large group. Normally I’d say I’m going to come here again after being here like 2 times but at my recent visit one of the female staff was SO rude (I think her name was Kim but that may be another server)💀 the other staff normally try their best (as someone in customer service i understand) but we were downstairs with a woman near us and she kept giving us dirty looks, being rude when we asked her for things (like extra chopsticks, how long one of our items will be to come ect.) and even spoke under her breath after leaving our table literally at arms length away from us as she went back to her station behind us. To be honest I will be avoiding this restaurant when I go to Soho next, I only went for their cheap sharing sized Katsu curry.

Also visit their branch that do ramen on bond street quite often as well. They serve best tonkotsu ramen. Always got to go with freshly crushed garlic that they provide. Great job at keeping consistency of the food for a such a long time.

In the toilet I witnessed one staff member not washing his hands after using the urinals and another one doing his hair that also didn’t wash his hands 🤢🤮

So much choice! There was sushi, sashimi, ramen, donburi, bento boxes, all the kinds of Japanese food you can think of. They also have a huge variety of local and imported drinks, from wines to sake to interesting sodas, teas, etc. Even though there was a queue outside the door, we were seated quickly and food also arrived quickly despite it being super busy. Food was also tasty and portions generous. I'm vegetarian and had a lot of choice to choose from too.

Very hearty meal at a reasonable price for London. I understand the queue better.

Had food poisoning after having dinner here. We learnt it has a 3* score on the hygiene rating, which is low and says it all.
