The best restaurants serving Italian food in East of England

Hey viewers. I felt compelled to write this to hopefully make you think twice before visiting this restaurant. When we visited on a Sunday, there were two young female waitresses who seemed to be a combination of overly shy and perhaps hungover. They barely said a word, didn't take our order and we had to ask, and got simple things wrong. Other first impressions: dirty glasses served, and one person on the pizza oven? I had clumsily managed to spill a drink, and after I returned from the bathroom, which was absolutely vile - completely disgusting and looking as if it had not been cleaned in a month. It was honestly foul... the kitchen roll my wife had to use to clean the spillage was still left on the table, and the drink was not replaced until we asked. These are simple things one would expect when paying to dine at a restaurant. Instead the staff had stood there and watched my wife clean up. 20+ minutes in with no food, and after seeing some of the pizzas being served at other tables, we decided to leave. The pizzas looked bland, undercooked, and generally terribly presented. The couple at the table next to us also mentioned that their food was chewy and dry, and it looked significantly worse than what you would get at a kebab shop at 3 AM, despite the expensive prices (around £16+ for some pizzas on the menu). After leaving, another lady who had apparently eaten there approached us and said how bad the food was and how disgusting the female bathroom was, which pushed me to write this review. I am baffled by the good reviews from others. Perhaps they have more experience with takeaways/deliveries where service is not a factor, or it may just depend on who's in the kitchen. To close, as a family who eats out regularly in many different locations, I would consider this restaurant to be in the top 3 of the worst establishments we've visited. Good luck if you're going, and squint if you use the toilets."

Lovely food. Lovely staff. Accomodating with the food allergies and preferences of the children

The food was good, but the service Terrible! We waited 20 minutes for drinks! After that the waiters forgot our mains and brought as the desert before the main! My fisrt and last visit.

Delicious pizza with fresh ingredients and a perfect crust. Friendly staff and quick service – highly recommended!

Disappointing service. We were rushed through the meal. On three separate occasions we had to ask for our unfinished garlic bread not to be taken away. I was still putting my ice-cream spoon down when the waitress grabbed the bowl to clear it away. At the end, it is was very pressurising to be talked through the "optional tipping" procedure while the waitress leaned over us and watched. We won't be returning.

Worst Chinese buffer I have even eaten 😞 very disappointed, how this can be be well rated??? My Chinese take away is so many time better. Everything tastes like curry! Avoid! Bad quality food! No no no

We visited Bella italia riverside as a date night as oppose to going to red lion street. We didn’t pre book but we were swiftly seated. It then took around 10-15 minutes to even get a drinks order and by this time we ordered our food too. Drinks orders should be taken 1-2 minutes after seated. Our starters arrived very quickly and the garlic dough balls were delicious. Soon after our mains arrived and our starter plates have not been cleared. We ate our mains and after finishing we waited 20 minutes before I decided to order dessert via the app. Meanwhile the front of house staff was chatting to an individual table whilst others were ignored. Multiple tables were in need of clearing or ordering. Our desserts arrived and the runner cleared our main plates. The runner was very friendly and polite and was more than happy to help. Running drinks and food and cleaning tables in between this boy was fantastic. The service was very poor and I was disappointed in our dining experience. Much prefer red lion street staff much more efficient!

Almondo, our waiter was absolutely amazing with our little toddler, kept her entertained and engaged. Very thoughtful and helped her with her drawing. Too service from a really friendly person. Made the meal even better

Saw that Bills was closing, which is a terrible shame as a favourite brunch spot of mine and my partners for the great gluten free options, so on Saturday 29th July we popped in for brunch. In the past we would always be warmly welcomed at the front. On this occasion we waited at the front for a few minuets with no sign of any staff. A few minutes later a young waitress walks down the steps, looks at us and then starts clearing a table, but putting items on a tray. She then looks at us again, then walks over to another table to ask how their food is, then returns to clearing the table. She looks at us again and finally decides to walk over after ignoring us for close to 5 minuets, it’s now been nearly ten minuets since we walked in! She walks over “table for two?” - I reply “Yes please” and I continue to say “one gluten allergy” but she interrupted me and said “just a second” before picking up two menus and walking off without us. My partner and I looked at each other and both said “nope” and we walked out. Service at Bills in the past was always superb. Always asked for allergies at the door and seated quickly. Which given service charge is included you’d expect. On this occasion is was severely lacking, I assume in part due to staff being aware the store is closing and there no longer being a reason to care about standards. We walked to Edmundos instead, we were greeted within seconds of walking in and as soon as we said a table for two the following question was “any allergies?” For me as someone with Coeliac this immediately settles me. The food was also great. Shame to lose bills, but thankfully Edmundos is there and doing a great job.

We celebrated my daughter birthday with this guys and the reality was way beyond expectations, the girls where engaged from the beginning to the end they had so much fun making their own pizzas and the staff was always so kind and patient even knowing that we started the party late. They managed every single detail with care from allergies to little demands, and for me the most important bit was that we were never felt rushed through the 2 hrs slot, all run spotless. In the end we had 12 young happy little girls. Highly recommend, thank you team for such good experience

Beautiful restaurant ! Delicious authentic italian food !

Service was good from the sole waitress ,however food was poor I ordered a cesar salad for 13.95 it was supposed to come with poached egg and cos lettuce ,came with spinach and rocket no poached egg ,I don't like to complain but when you're not told about its going to be different to what is on the menu because we have run out and they have made it up as they go along ,my first big question ,in this day of allergy, intolerance etc suppose I was allergic to rocket or spinach ??? I wanted to go the day before but I was told that they were going to be bust later on ,o they could not accomodate us ,I saw lots of free tables ,we just wanted to eat and go a complete lost opportunity ,I went to a restaurant opposite, when I came out i the same empty tables at prezzo were still empty and had not been filled,I also get annoyed at only card payments are excepted ,so what happens to the people that don't have cards, feels like discrimination on those that are unable to have cards we are over covid now I thought ! Will not return to a prezzo Sorry !!

Our first visit here, we have been trying to find a nice restaurant to cater for all for our daughters 21st. We weren’t having much luck as most places were Indian, Chinese or steak house or just had a very small menu & also we have one person that’s dairy free. Anyway my daughter come to me & said i think I’ve found somewhere. Booked online. We had a lovely time, restaurant is clean & nice looking, staff were lovely as was the food. Looks like we have found a new place to go to celebrate family birthdays etc. Many thanks

We came here for a family members birthday last year and food was amazing. However on Sat 29th March, 4 of us had the chicken which was very overcooked and tough, the potato wedges were burnt and someone's burger bun was burnt. There were 11 of us including 2 children so we pre-ordered. To be honest It looked like the food had all been cooked and left under heat lamps for a very long while? We were going to complain, but then it would of been very awkward for everyone involved. Will no longer be having any future meals here, sorry.
