Absolute gem of a restaurant.
It's quite small (I counted seating for 26) so I would recommend booking. The owner and staff have created a warm, very friendly atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome. The menu caters extremely well for the majority of diets and everything is freshly cooked. The owner is very helpful and is happy for you to pre-order your choice of meals in advance. This means you don't run the risk of something not being available , which is always a possibility when it's fresh ingredients and cooked to order. We had pizza, tiger prawns and jerk pork burger, all of which were fabulous and the tiramisu dessert is amazing. The level of service was perfect, not rushed, attentive, extremely polite and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening, Desmond's has just become our first choice restaurant in Lowestoft.
Visited the new location in Caledonian Road, just opposite tube station. The chips were AMAZING!! The flavour of the chicken was also very nice. Management was very friendly and hospitable. Overall 10 out of 10 service!
Excellent - 100% best coffee I have had in a long while.
Great service, lovely bagette and coffee -
Will certainly come again!
Nice to chat to Sean and his colleague :)
This is the best place for food, we are from Norwich and always have our fish cake and chips and sausage and chips here, worth every penny, 10 out of 10 for service too so if you like a good chip then this is the place for you
We were guided hereby the restaurant next door while we waited for a table, great recommendation! Very bubbly friendly waitress served us Pornstar Martinis that were so nice we returned for premeal cocktails the following night, well worth a visit, superb tasting cocktails
Introduced to this lovely place by a friend and it’s just lovely. Popped in for a quick coffee and a bagel- really friendly and I feel comfy popping in on my for a quick coffee and snack!
First visit and found by accident lucky to spot it as its a little out of the way just past the library on the corner.
Spotlessly clean and a nice variety of food and drinks.
Ukrainian lady running the show and does a good job so all the support we can give her here.
We have been coming to Coffee at Star for a good number of years, for as long as we’ve been parents of a Junior rower!
Firstly, it’s an incredibly welcoming and inclusive place to come. You don’t have to be a member of either Star Club or Falcon. Dogs are welcome and it’s so nice to see so many there on a weekend especially.
The service has always been exceptional, it’s run by Ann and her team. They offer the best hospitality, which we’re not always known for
in the UK!
The location is very special, with immediate views of the Great River Ouse from the balcony. There is also a modern, cosy space inside with sofas, tables, chairs with plenty of blankets and cushions to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible.
The selection of food never disappoints. I can vouch for all of it that I’ve tried (and I’ve had a lot!). I am a regular consumer of their waffles with yoghurt and fruit, I enjoy the granola bowl too. My kids enjoy the waffles with bacon, the halloumi breakfast bap is a family favourite and of course they sell essential bacon/egg baps as well as just toast! Breakfast, brunch isn’t where is stops. There is always cake available, meaning it becomes an ideal place to drop in, have a bite to eat and drink and enjoy the views! Have I mentioned that the coffee is AMAZING, they have a wide selection available and I can vouch for their delicious skinny flat white and chai latte. The smoothies are a hit with parents, the kids and everyone else it seems.
A must for your trip to the Riverside in Bedford!

I tried the food.... Blew my mind I thought I know what indian cuisine food was supposed to taste like but this was on a whole new level. 100% recommend, you can tell the food is made with love and care.
