With a child that has a serious nut allergy, it is always hard to find new restaurants that are pleasing to the eye as well as their menu and their nut allergy processes. I’m pleased to say this was an absolute winner with my nine-year-old who is always very cautious of going into restaurants, he is an aware of. The care and attention taken to each plate of food was amazing. The service couldn’t have been any better, happy, cheery staff nothing and was ever too much for them. Thank you.

I recently went for lunch here and was surprised by the lack of attention given to to us by the waiter. After the waiter gave us our drinks order he left and didn’t return to take my food order. When a waitress came and gave my child his pizza order we place asked her to take our order while she did but the food didn’t arrive for over 30minutes. We saw another table arrive eat and leave before our order arrived at which point I had to ask the waiter when our food would be arriving. He said he’d check with the chef and within 15minutes ours order had arrived. The food was great but the service was very disappointing and makes me less likely to visit again for a quick lunch. If I had known the time it would take to get my order i would have eaten somewhere else. I recommend the food but be ready for a long wait and disappointing service.

My friend and I came here for my birthday. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. We’ve been here 3 times before as we know the service and food is good Again we had a lovely time, we weren’t rushed, just took our time. The food was good as was the service, never disappointed.

As a family of three, including a four-year-old, we were delighted by the excellent service and warm hospitality provided by Robert, the manager of the branch. From the moment we arrived, Robert ensured that our dining experience was perfect. He helped us select the right dishes, catering to both our tastes and dietary preferences. His recommendations were spot on, and we appreciated his attentiveness. The food was outstanding, each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. What truly set this visit apart was Robert's friendly and engaging demeanor. He took the time to chat with us at the table, making us feel valued and welcomed. I really enjoyed my visit at Ask Italian today. I had just come back from Italy and was still in the mood to eat some pasta. My food was very nice and the waiter Robertas offered a good recommendation which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ll be back definitely!

A friend and I visited Ask Italian at Lakeside yesterday. The visit was fine, until my friend ordered a pizza with prawns that tasted spoiled. She had only had one slice of the pizza and immediately raised it with the waiter. As my friend raised this with the waiter, the waiter looked at my friend disbelievingly, but took the plate back to the chef. He returned shortly to say that the chef said the prawns were fresh and would therefore not be taking the food off the bill and would not offer my friend an alternative dish. My friend asked if the waiter had tasted the food, he said no but he trusts the chef?! This kind of response expresses that AskItalian does not value their customer base. My friend had stomach pains the rest of the meal, and we did not order anything else as a result, and on principle! As a courtesy, for the fact that food quality had been questioned, Ask Italian staff should simply offer their customers an alternative or remove the food from the bill. No further questions asked. What does Ask Italian gain from this, if it means you lose future custom? We came to Ask Italian due to online recommendations but will not be back! The service was terrible, no wonder the restaurant was half empty! Highly disappointing.

Our waiter was absolutely fantastic! He was on by himself, but made sure every table was given the exact same top notch service!

A nice freshly cooked lunch with excellent service from Rob and Nico. Loved the Pollo Milanese and hot fresh chips. Tasty and filling. Well done chefs Dani and Carina, keep up the good work!

Lasagne didn’t have enough beef, it was just pasta sheets and cheese and it wasn’t filling at all.

Staff and food excellent! A party of 16 all served their meals within minutes of each other, with no one waiting. Well done Anna,Rob, Alex, Nico, Rafal, Daniel, Khalil and Sanaur for a great night!

A group of us visited here, on a weekday (early evening). The restaurant is decorated lovely, feels nice and open. Tables are spread out well, so you don't feel like you are sitting on top of each other. The restaurant was clean. All of our meals were served pretty much at the same time. So nobody was waiting for a meal to turn up while everybody had theirs. All of the food was served hot and presented nicely. The garlic bread is delicious. The sizing is enough for one or two people to eat. The carbonara was lovely too, there was a good amount of pancetta (they did not skimp). The baked chocolate gnocchi is also delicious! If you are a chocolate lover, I recommend this dessert. We all enjoyed our meals here. I have visited this ASK Italian multiple times and will continue to visit here.

Me and my boyfriend went to the restaurant in Lakeside and left extremely disappointed! We have come here many time's as it was our favourite restaurant. When we arrived the restaurant was near enough empty which suited us, the waitress showed us to our table and everything seemed normal. We then got given the menu's and it wasn't until my boyfriend remembered seeing your Easter special menu so we had to request these menu's. As we was deciding what to order we saw the still raspberry lemonade in a hyge glass container had bits in it and was separated (obviously been sitting there a long time!). Our waiter came over and we placed our order to then being told that they didn't have half of the menu's ingredients...we had to decide again....final after placing our order the starters came out in no time at all, then our mains took about 40 minutes! by this point I looked around the restaurant and noticed there was only 5 tables (including ours) and one of the chefs was sitting in the restaurant with someone who just walked in and got her food (way before us!) they obviously knew eachother and he was going to and from the restaurant to the kitchen (health and hygiene right there! someone needs to refresh on their course!)...when our food finally arrived the waiter automatically put parmesan cheese on my food the time I told him to stop there was already a fair amount on my food, so I ignored it. I then go to eat my lasagne around the edges and noticed my food was lukewarm. I then gathered food from the middle and it was stone cold!. There was no meal checks and I had to get up and find the waitress to inform her. She was apologetic and offered me another meal I explained that we waited long enough and had a movie to go see and for it to be taken off our bill. I am truly gutted cause like I said it was mine and my bf's favourite restaurant and we was out for the day and drove 40 mins to visit this restaurant, all the staff spent most of their time chatting and catering for individuals who came in and obviously personally knew the staff! it was absolutely appalling and now I am avoiding this place and will be informing others. Also the drink portion was shocking I paid over £5.00 for a rum and coke and it was in a very small glass was loads of ice, I took the ice out and it was half a inch of drink! disgusting. I have worked in hospitality for years and there is no excuse for this! the restaurant was dead, half of the menu wasn't available and no meal checks, staff seemed more bothered about having a chitchat!

We have been coming here for a few years now but unfortunately today was extremely disappointing. The spaghetti bolognese was such a let down. Asked if the recipe had changed and was told no, but I eat this oftern and it was unpleasant. The folded garlic bread was fine but slightly over cooked. The waitress offered no apology even when we said it didn't taste nice, just took the bowls and walked off. Shame as we won't be retuning now.

We often visit branches of Ask Italian, and today we had a lovely experience that was worthy of a review! The manager Alex and her team were extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was prepared efficiently and was very tasty. The chefs were able to accommodate our requests for additions and changes to our food with no problems. We would definitely recommend this branch of Ask Italian. Thank you Alex and your lovely team of staff.

This was our first visit to this branch of ASK and we were impressed with the decor, music and general ambience as some we have been to are way too loud! Service was very attentive, it was a quiet lunch time and food was fresh and served quickly! Arancini were ok not the best we’ve had a little soft but they were still nice enough, lasagne bites a little unusual and not instantly recognisable as lasagne, but ok. Calzone was really good, lovely dough and plenty of filling! Would definitely visit again!

Pleasent atmosphere and lovely service. Awful and small portions food. We kinda likes the starters which was salad and frozen calamari tbh, so nothing hard to cook there. Pizza was as thin as a newspaper and burnt, it seems big but it isn't really. My carbonara was the worst I ever had and it's my to go dish in every Italian restaurant. The pasta was as soft as it was made for someone without teeth. I requested another one and the waitress kindly offered me another me one. Second pasta was the same overcooked, underseasoned(cook must have never heard of salt), pancetta was raw that I could literally chew on it for hours. Paid 70 pounds just for 1 nice cocktail and some starters. My husband forced himself with the pizza as he was very hungry, I had less than half of the already small portion pasta. Avoid wasting your money.

Delivery time kept changing and getting longer and longer. When food arrived, the lasagna and garlic bread were cold. The garlic bread was meant to be cheesy but didn’t appear to have any inside it. The cheesecake was melted and basically a mess. None of it was worth £36. Very disappointing

Eating in is okay and the food and pizza is good if it is quiet in the restaurant . However don’t make the mistake of ordering Deliveroo from here . The pasta was clearly day old , thrown in the microwave and dry as a bone and the chips were stone cold. The food also took an hour and a half to arrive !

Can’t give less than one star as got a completely different order. I mean it was nice, but if you can’t give the right order to the right driver, then you’re a bunch of idiots.

I went in with my family of four and the restaurant was almost empty with only 6 people max. One of the manager's, Nicola asked us if we made a booking online otherwise we could not be sitted with a rude tone. We responded it was almost empty, then she hit us with the truth saying there is only one chef that afternoon and too much for the chef. We went online and realised the restaurant does not require a mandatory booking. The other female manager came and noted the same thing. She also refused to give me her name when I politely asked to report my experience to customer service. She declined and said she is not obliged to provide her name. It is totally out of other and strongly feel there were being lazy, u bothered and lacked customer focus. These managers will run the business to the ground as they only care about their wages and not the customers or the business. No wonder it was the only restaurant with 6 customers and almost empty at the time of the day when others were extremely busy.. Ask italia should investigate this to avoid more negative customer experience.

I’ve never walked out a restaurant before and I’ve been to many! The food was awful, no pasta of choice even the ones stated on the menu. When the food arrived all with same pasta it was cold and hardly any sauce, sent it back and it was microwaved so any sauce that was on there disappeared! We apologised to the very lovely staff, they couldn’t do enough and left!!! Now sitting in another relieved we left !

After visiting Ask italian yesterday with my family we thought we would not get a table as the resturant was so busy and full, however, the manager managed to find us a table which was amazing as we had our children with us and needed a large table for four, she was so helpful and understanding and given the circumstances of how busy they were on the day she made every effort to take care of us and kept checking on us to make sure we hade everything we wanted ! Amazing staff and especially the manager thankyou so much we all enjoyed our meal and left satisfied, even our youngest cleared his plate !!! Well done Anna we will surely be back x

Very disappointed in service. Wanted to have a nice dinner but we had to leave as we were told that all chef’s are on brake and so we gonna have to wait for food for 2 hours. And it’s Friday evening. Manager was very rude , we felt very uncomfortable.

Just because you used a gift card with the meal doesn't make you less of a standard customer, the servers here need some retraining

Missing the spicy tomato dip with the calzone, furious. Got the garlic sauce with the chips though. Not the cheapest pizza and missing a sauce and had to cut it myself.

The Food was ok, it wasn’t good though that would be pushing it. The service on the other hand was terrible. I would never go back again because of this alone. I am spoiled and I am use to excellent service in great restaurants but these people couldn’t even get the basics right.

Lovely accommodative staff unlike another pizzeria further down who wasn't interested much in joining our party 6 onto 1 table in the outdoor seating area. The sharing garlic bread with cheese was tasty, as well as the calamaris. We weren't a fan of the King prawn and gnocchi dish. Ceaser salad was good, the king prawn spaghetti dish was a bit dry.

A bit disappointed this time. I'm usually a huge fan of Ask Italian but on this order, the lids to my items weren't on properly (I assume) as by the time it was delivered, I'd got a lot of spilt food. My pasta (for the best way of describing it) was almost like the pan had boiled dry and the pasta had stuck/burnt to it as I had dark brown patches on it. It was also very chewy, not al dente by any means. The cheese was in a separate pot all clumped together and a bit questionable looking and the pancetta in the pasta was more gristle than meat. I don't know what happened to the asparagus, I literally had 2 small chopped pieces in the dish. Lecca Lecca undercooked and dough balls were soggy. Not very happy as most of what I ordered was not pleasant to eat so thrown away. £50+ in the bin

Food is too costly but the quantity is small. We tried pizza, prawns spaghetti and some starters but no one was satisfied with the food but the atmosphere is nice and you will enjoy the ambiance. I am Indian so we like spicy food, that might be the reason, but I will not recommend this restaurant especially to Indians or Asians.

Our first visit ever to this place. Pleasantly surprised with good quality food and friendly service. Looks like it is Italian family running this establishment. Maybe parpadalle beef dish could have bit more meat as my wife enjoyed it very much. My sea bass was really 👌. Next time we are going there for pizza.

The pizza and pasta which we ordered were both terrible. No fresh ingredients! Mocktails tasted of just sparkling water.

We didnt Even set up at the table and the blonde lady straight away shouting to us . Very bad . We felt embarrassed and had to left . Very bad service.

Though there are quite a few empty tables. We get told they fully booked and we need to make reservations. Won't be going there again. We went to zizzi Italian restaurant also in the mall and they were superb.

Came here during the weekend. We were intending to go next door to Wagamama, however seeing that the queue to the restaurant was long, we came here instead (given also as there were quite a few tables free). Upon stepping inside, we quickly knew why this place was a lot less busier; we were told that only 2 chefs were working that day (down from 5), so should we still decide to eat here anyway (which we did), we were advised to only order pizza as cooking times would be quicker. So three of us each ordered a 'Pollo e Pancetta' pizza, which was served pretty quickly. It was slightly burnt at the edges, but otherwise it tasted alright, nothing spectacular. That said, I ordered the signature Craft Still Lemonade to drink, which tasted surprisingly good, so would definitely give that a recommend. Overall, food was okay, and given the shortage of staff when we visited, I'm giving this 4 stars for effort.

Worst service I received in a long time. Butterfly chicken was from frozen, even heard another customer commenting the same. Waited an extremely long time between courses. Also requested water before any food was sent out but that didn't happen. When trying to get anyone's attention feels like you're bothering them. Had to start cleaning up the plates and stack them to show we were finished. Also when we all got home there was a queue for the toilets. The food was definitely not fresh, tasted frozen and reheated. It's out me off Italian full stop.

Worst Risotto con pollo e funghi I've ever had. Just ordered via Uber and I'm totally disappointed as the taste is not even close to a risotto.

I don't normally bother leaving a review but I had to this time - I want to understand what the actual situation and problem is with payments ? My bill came to £109 of which I wanted to pay with cash from my birthday and I asked the waitress if this was ok , she said we usually prefer card but will ask if we can take cash The manager came and said since covid we don't take cash but can still leave a tip by cash I didn't ask for change, I was willing to leave a £10 tip as well but how come you do not accept cash for the bill but you will for the tip? What an absolute double standards joke

Only been once and it was quite a poor experience from a service perspective. Bearing in mind, one can create most dishes at home these days or there are other options to eating out, we might expect good service when we choose to eat at a specific place. This was not the case here. First the table we were given was right by the door which caused cold drafts when the door opened and closed (a real problem). Staff were friendly enough but was constantly harassed to choose something from the menu (after 5 minutes), and then a few minutes after that. They brought the mains out before the starters had been cleared away as well which leads me to believe they are trying to literally shove clients in and out as quickly as possible to earn from the table. Nightmare! I felt like asking the waiter if he'd like us to leave because we're not eating quickly enough. Wasn't good value either and the food was mediocre. Will not be eating here again anytime soon. Much better options out there who actually want your business.

We went there with our kids (one 18 months, the other one 2 years old, bith girls) willing to have some nice time and delicious food. The biggest mistake parents can do is to visit this place with their little ones. Since the begging, we were NOT welcomed. We were only offered a table near the main door, eventhought we kindly asked to have another one ( it was windy near the door). We were rejected because of the kids. They will do a mess, the manager said to her staff and then we were explained that the tables were reserved.  We sitted there, kids were very well behaving, sitting on their high chairs and eating most of the time. Food came fairly quick and it was OK, but the staff and especially the Manager ( a lady) were missing customer service skills. We were told to look after our kids so many times, that we felt pushed to leave. The kids were only playing around the table at all times. We asked the bill, so we can leave, as we didn't enjoy it there anymore. The reaction of the manager was 'Perfect' . How can this place be successful with a lacking skills manager and staff. Awful service.

Food was so bland, ordered garlic cheese chips it’s frozen not even fresh. The cheese fondue is good but the bread that goes with it is proper weird it’s like a biscuit hard and breaks. Had courgette fries it was bland. Got a pizza, it was okay not all that. The chicken pasta was okay but the chicken pizza I got the chicken was proper dried up did not taste good. Still hungry after this place it’s defo not worth the money won’t be returning

Food was very nice, didn't have to wait long for service which is always nice. Got asked about our dietary needs and allergens before we sat down which was really nice. The place itself also looks nice, a very relaxing vibe.

Decent Italian food with friendly staff

Manager and other staff were very understanding x1 staff who met us at reception was absolutely unhelpful and told us on entry we will have to check all our own dietry requirements ourselves before ordering and they will not help. Fortunately other wiater were understanding accomodations

Waiting 20 minutes for the staff to find our table to say they couldn’t see the booking but after providing the booking they carried on making us wait. Eventually after 30 minutes the manager came over an apologised but they accidentally gave our table away and said they will offer us to rebook

Ordered on Justeat £50 worth of food to be boxed up two starters that we didn’t order and our recipe stapled to the bag. Rude customer service wouldn’t accept there fault had to drive up there to collect our food.

Was waiting to go into Wagamamas that is next to ASK, a very rude member of ASK staff who had either not started their shift or was on their break decided that they would take it upon themselves to very aggressively try and order waiting customers to cue in a different area to where they waiting. Considering the boardwalk is currently not open for customers to walk down it was incredibly inconvenient for them try and do this - in a way that was so so rude. Completely unimpressed.

Pasta was overcooked, no flavour and overpriced. Atmosfere is very good and staff was good.

Love ASK usually just wouldn’t go to this particular one again. Tried to refuse us a table when we arrived - luckily we had one booked. Staff were just chatting and looking at their phones. Served us in a massive rush & we were given our bill before we could look at the dessert menu and left without even finishing our drinks.

Lucky to have got served. Many people had been turned away or not got welcomed at all. Sat just by the front door, saw many people got refused service and some not even been welcomed. Once seated and served, food is very nice. Depending on when you catch them if they are busy or not. The 2 stars given is because people get refused service, I was one of the lucky to be served. Visited on a Monday night at about 6pm. Otherwise would have received a 5 stars for sure. Not nice seeing other people not being welcome or refused service, could happen to anyone. Also, two drinks were sold out on the menu which was disappointed.

Poor service. Sent an order with missing items and took no accountability for messing up the order and just sent me to just eat. British customer service is one of the worst in the world. The lady on the phone who claimed she is one of the managers showed no level of remorse for the mishap and couldn’t tell me why her store didn’t have the items I ordered. Very disappointed!!! And discussed.!! We went there Wednesday 8pm and we were refused table, (there was a lot of empty tables and only a few guests). We were told that the restaurant is closing soon. When actual closing time is 10pm!!!

My partner and I went to the Lakeside one (usually go Bluewater and that one is unreal) The staff were not friendly at all especially the one that served us the starter we was waiting for a menu for a long time and had to ask them in the end, then waited a extremely long time to then order even though there was only 3 other tables. When the food came (starter) she just put the food down without saying a word. Then we waited for the bill for ages and had to ask for that as well again. The chefs did amazing the food was like always amazing so its nothing that they're doing but most of the staff need some customer service training. Just a really unwelcoming place, will stick to Bluewater from now on.

Looks like a nice restaurant but was told they were only serving drinks and no food at 8pm. Google says this restaurant is open until 10pm so a bit confused and disappointed, may try another branch as menu looks good. Maybe should change your info on google if this is the case

Monday evening. Not a lot of staff. The restaurant was turning people away so that they could maintain good levels of service. Food good as always.

I came to the Lakeside Ask located on the Boardwalk for a late lunch with family. The staff were really polite and welcoming and the food was excellent! It was the best experience I’ve had with ‘ASK’ compared to some of their other branches. For starters I went with the folded garlic breaded with mozzarella which was yummy, and for mains I thought I would try a new dish instead of playing it safe with the usual Margherita pizza. I tried a completely new dish - the ‘Purple Pesto Genovese Frilly Tagliatelle’ and it was DELICIOUS! Completely full of colour and flavour I will definitely be returning for this, it’s my new favourite at ASK. All in all it was really delicious food, great location and reasonable prices. Wouldn't be going back. Used to enjoy ASK Italian years ago. Decided to give it a try and was very disappointed. Didn't enjoy anything I ordered. The only positive is that my daughter enjoyed the kids meal spaghetti Bolognese and finished it all. Hence the 3star.

Beautiful day sat down at table. Ignored … Asked for menu to be told only accept bookings! Was half empty, both inside and outside 5 staff standing around front at till chatting. Rude and lazy …. We found a table in restaurant few doors up So Thankyou Ask, you’ve lost a customer We found another beautiful restaurant, had a lovely meal there … Don’t normally leave reviews but management need to sort this place out. You turned away at least a dozen customers after us… and tables still empty
