The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

We have been here several times over the last few years as we love the food and have never had a bad experience with it. Our latest visit for my wife's birthday was a mixed experience for us. The food was superb as always but we were let down massively by the service. The staff are all very friendly but there appeared to be no management of the staff. There did not appear to be a server assigned to a group of tables rather each member of staff just served who they could. The problem with that is that none of the staff appeared to know what each other member of staff had done or not done and didn't know were tables were up to. We were left feeling abandoned and had to flag staff down to order more drinks and then subsequently chase drinks and also chasing staff to provide us with dessert menus. Overall a disappointing experience for my wife's birthday.

Had lunch with a friend . One meal was incorrect when it arrived and the waiter offered to keep the other meal warm whilst another meal was being prepared . Unfortunately pasta doesn’t keep warm so decided to eat slowly but not ideal by any means . Also no gluten free tagliatelle so had to have gluten free penne instead . There was no offer of an apology and a service charge was added to the bill which , of course , we declined to pay . The food itself was nice but service and staff attitude need to be addressed . Wouldn’t go again .

Great food and the best coffee! Lovely authentic Italian cafe! I would recommend the pescatora pasta and the pepperoni pizza!

Nice place and atmosphere. It was my first time in there, and I felt totally relaxed. Well as much as you can be, when chasing kids around. It's a nice place for kids, but even better if the weather's nice enough to go in the beer garden.

Pizza was good and staff was friendly

There are two ladies who work in here who are unfailingly polite, cheerful, unobtrusive and friendly. The reason for my adding of an extra star from my previous review is because of them. However, it seems that this branch of Costa attracts young male staff who are loud, use audible bad language and are over familiar (I object to being called ‘mate’). When I come to a Costa, I am expecting/hoping that I won’t be disturbed or distracted by very loud conversations, lots of ‘f’ words and inane ‘banter’.

Great taste, Excellent service, Reasonable prices. The guy at reception “Nafees” is a polite and friendly person. Highly Recommended

Clean and tidy but had a cheap feel. Serviettes disintegrated on the first use. Penny pinching! Service was very good but the food wasn't great. The house burger was apparently good but the chicken burger was tiny. The roll was fine and nice salad filling and accompanying salsa. Side salad excellent. Chips were unseasoned and there was no salt and pepper on the table. Penny pinching again. Ketchup came in those little sachets which, even as a man, I find tricky to undo without making a mess. Didnt have brown sauce. Penny pinching. Wouldn't take much to improve to a better standard

They deserve a sixth star on food. My friends and I highly rate their steaks.
